Previewing the 2025 season for Texas A&M LB Scooby Williams with his player profile
As we gear up for the 2025 football season, Aggies Wire is breaking down every player on the Texas A&M roster. Throughout the preseason, each profile will highlight a player's background, recruiting rankings out of high school, and projected role under head coach Mike Elko. Scooby Williams is one of Elko's first-year transfers who contributed immediately, bringing familiarity to the defensive scheme led by Jay Bateman, who also joined from Florida. Paired with York, they provide a veteran presence on the field with solid depth behind them. Williams played much of the 2024 season with an injury, yet still managed 10 starts across 11 games. Over that span, he finished fourth on the team in tackles (43) and tackles for loss (7.5). If Williams returns fully healthy, his sideline-to-sideline range and blitzing ability from the linebacker spot give the coaching staff flexibility to disguise defensive looks. Preseason Player Profile Recruiting Rankings (Class of 2021) The former four-star prospect coming out of high school was a tweener and elite edge rusher, tallying 107 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, and 15 sacks across his sophomore and junior seasons. He played in the Mississippi State All-Star game and was selected for the Army All-American Bowl. Depth Chart Outlook Linebacker is loaded with young talent, and at some point this season, we could see a rotation next to team captain Taurean York. However, Williams is projected to start the season alongside York, and barring any surprises, he should hold down that role throughout the year. Previewing the 2025 season for Texas A&M WR Ashton Bethel-Roman with his player profile
As we gear up for the 2025 football season, Aggies Wire is breaking down every player on the Texas A&M roster. Throughout the preseason, each profile will highlight a player's background, their recruiting rankings upon graduating from high school, and their projected role under head coach Mike Elko. Besides KC Concepcion, the wide receiver room features a wealth of youthful talent. Terry Bussey and Mario Craver combined for 584 total yards last season, and numerous opportunities will arise for others to prove themselves. One standout who flashed potential is second-year Houston native Ashton Bethel-Roman. Much like his freshman counterpart Izaiah Williams, Bethel-Roman saw limited action, appearing in only four games. However, he made the most of his time, recording four catches for 44 yards and a touchdown. Preseason Player Profile Recruiting Rankings (Class of 2024) The former four-star prospect Bethel-Roman brings exceptional speed to the position. On the track, he was part of the 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams that both earned top-three finishes in the Texas Class 6A Championship. His strong junior season included an average of 24.1 yards per catch and a third-round playoff appearance. Based on speed alone, sources have stated that Bethel-Romas has run as fast as a 4.3 40-yard dash. Depth Chart Outlook KC Concepcion, Terry Bussey, and Mario Craver are penciled in as starters, while Bethel-Roman and redshirt freshman Izaiah Williams will battle for the fourth receiver spot. Watch Texas A&M running back's latest hype video ahead of the 2025 season
Texas A&M's 2025 running back room is loaded from top to bottom. Compared to last season, this unit will be able to sustain any potential injury with the return of seniors Le'Veon Moss, Amari Daniels, EJ Smith, and most importantly, former five-star prospect and redshirt sophomore Reuben Owens, who missed all but two games last season after tearing his ACL during fall camp. While Moss will be the focal point, Daniels and Owens will compete for the No. 2 role, while Daniels has a leg up based on his play last season, including his role as the starting running back after Moss's season-ending injury during the final five games of the season. However, Owens is by far the most versatile back on the roster and will finally be utilized in the passing game once the Aggies get through fall camp. Under OC Collin Klein, Texas A&M's offense should be a well-oiled machine with starting quarterback Marcel Reed running things due to his elite running skill set. At the same time, his throw game should improve with the addition of new wide receivers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, as well as Rueben Owens, who will be a valuable asset during screen plays and the quick game. On Friday, Owens released a new video showing just how healthy and ready he is to get back in the swing of things, as his footwork, burst, and overall speed appear to be back on track after a full offseason of getting back to 100%. Owens has also built more muscle on his frame to take the blows coming his way, which is necessary given his injury history. This is a critical season for Rueben Owens, given the future of the current running back rotation, as a solid campaign would solidify him as the 2026 starter once Moss and Daniels depart. Previewing the 2025 season for Texas A&M TE Theo Melin Öhrström with his player profile
As we gear up for the 2025 football season, Aggies Wire is breaking down every player on the Texas A&M roster. Throughout the preseason, each profile will highlight a player's background, their recruiting rankings upon graduating from high school, and their projected role under head coach Mike Elko. There was significant turnover at the tight end position, with several players either graduating or transferring out of Aggieland. The only returning player with meaningful game experience in the current system is Theo Melin Öhrström, otherwise known as 'Thor.' Coach Elko had to hit the portal to add experience and depth, creating competition at the position as Coach Klein's offense requires a variety of tight end types. Öhrström is entering his fourth season at A&M after spending most of his early career on special teams. In 2024, he played in all 13 games, recording 10 catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns. His breakout performance came against New Mexico State, where he hauled in five catches for 111 yards—making him the first Aggie tight end since 2018 to eclipse 100 receiving yards in a single game. Preseason Player Profile Recruiting Rankings (Class of 2022) The former four-star recruit was the top-rated player out of Sweden, known for his impressive size and athleticism. He drew interest from several Power Five programs, though, like many international prospects, the lack of top-tier competition was a concern. Adjusting to SEC-level play required development, especially in his in-line blocking skills. Depth Chart Outlook Depending on how offensive coordinator Collin Klein evolves the scheme, expect plenty of two-tight end sets featuring a pass-catcher and a traditional blocker. On passing downs, it'll likely be between transfer Amari Niblack and Öhrström, though Niblack holds a slight edge in explosiveness and experience. That said, anticipate a heavy rotation among all four tight ends until someone separates from the pack. Previewing the 2025 season for Texas A&M DB Bryce Anderson with his player profile
As we gear up for the 2025 football season, Aggies Wire is breaking down every player on the Texas A&M roster. Throughout the preseason, each profile will highlight a player's background, their recruiting rankings upon graduating from high school, and their projected role under head coach Mike Elko. Much like the defensive line, the safety position remains an open competition, with multiple players earning starts last season. One of those part-time starters is Bryce Anderson, who has played extensively at Texas A&M but has struggled with consistency, making it difficult to solidify an every-game starting role. Despite his ups and downs, Anderson's athleticism ensures he will see plenty of playing time. Anderson's junior season was a mixed bag—new coach, new system, and new faces in the secondary. Still, he appeared in all 13 games and started five, recording 24 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss (TFL), and one interception. Though his production dipped, he still showcased game-changing ability, most notably with a 45-yard pick-six against Florida. Preseason Player Profile Recruiting Rankings (Class of 2022) The former four-star recruit, Anderson was a dynamic dual-threat quarterback in high school whose 10.4-second 100m sprint gave defenders fits. He earned 21-6A Sophomore of the Year honors and was named first-team QB as a junior. He also competed in the Under Armour All-American Game. Depth Chart Outlook Anderson is projected to start at free safety alongside Marcus Ratcliffe, with Jordan Shaw likely playing the nickel spot.
