FPL: triple captain Salah, back Ndiaye, and keep an eye on transfer window
The first Double Gameweek of the Fantasy Premier League season kicks off on Saturday, thanks to the rearranged Merseyside derby.
Liverpool's first of two games will be a tricky fixture away at Bournemouth, and this is followed by the short trip to Goodison Park, while the Blues' pre-derby match sees them welcome Leicester City.
So, after a quick Gameweek 23 review, we'll get into the best Double Gameweek transfers and team selection. Gameweek 23
Like many FPL managers, I benefited massively from bringing in Cody Gakpo (£7.6m), who scored two and created one for 16 points. Bournemouth's Justin Kluivert has been flying in recent weeks but is up against Liverpool next. Photo: Reuters
And those who opted for Bournemouth's Justin Kluivert (£5.7m) after his hat-trick against Newcastle were rewarded, with the midfielder again making the team of the week after his goal and an assist bagged 13 points.
But it was a different story for anyone who signed up Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.4m) with an eye on the Double Gameweek, as the Everton forward went off after 12 minutes with an injury. Last week , I correctly backed Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) and Alexander Isak (£9.5m) to score big. My captain Salah scored 16 points and Isak got 13.
OK, I may also have told you to bring in Cole Palmer (£11.3m), who scored a blank for a second week in a row. But let's forget about that.
Overall though it was a great week, with my 77 points haul catapulting me 100,000 places up the world rankings to 181,000.

Champions Liverpool waste no time with Frimpong swoop
Champions Liverpool waste no time with Frimpong swoop Jeremie Frimpong promises the Reds faithful he will give all the energy that they want. File photo: AFP Premier League champions Liverpool have signed defender Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen on a long-term contract. Financial details were not disclosed by either club, but British media reported that Liverpool triggered a 35 million euros release clause for the Dutch international, whose deal with Leverkusen was valid until 2028. The transfer was announced hours after Trent Alexander-Arnold joined Real Madrid from Liverpool on a six-year deal, with Frimpong set to replace the England defender as he becomes manager Arne Slot's first signing after they won the Premier League title. "It went quite easy," the 24-year-old told the club website. "Liverpool came and said they had interest, and obviously for me it was a no-brainer. "For me, it was like, 'Whatever you guys do, just get this done'." Frimpong, who will officially join on June 1, signed a five-year contract, media reports said. The right back, who can also play as a winger, played a key role in the Leverkusen side that won the German domestic double in 2023-24, chipping in with 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions. Frimpong also recorded 12 assists this season, adding five goals, from 48 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga runners-up. A product of Manchester City's academy, Frimpong joined Leverkusen in 2021 from Scottish side Celtic. He has represented the Netherlands on 12 occasions, scoring one goal, since making his debut with the senior squad in October 2023 in a Euro 2024 qualifier against France. "Liverpool fans, I'm going to give my all, my energy, my work-rate and hopefully we can win together, we celebrate together, get everything together," Frimpong added. "I'm just excited to be here. Thank you guys for accepting me and I won't let you guys down and I'll give you the energy that you guys want." (Reuters)

UK man appears in court over Liverpool parade crash that injured 79
A British man appeared in court on Friday charged with causing grievous bodily harm after a car ploughed into a crowd of Liverpool soccer fans injuring almost 80 during this week's Premier League title victory parade. Advertisement Paul Doyle, from the West Derby area of Liverpool, is charged with seven offences including dangerous driving and two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The 53-year-old appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Friday morning and confirmed his name, address and date of birth. Prosecutor Philip Astbury told the court: 'These charges arise from events around about 6pm on May 26 … in the city centre. 'As significant crowds left the waterfront after the parade for the local football team, this defendant, say the crown (prosecution), drove deliberately at people among the crowd as they tried to leave the area.'
