Love Island producers slammed for 'setting up' Shakira as fans beg 'leave her alone'
Viewers of Love Island said they were "getting bored" of producers "trying to set up" contestant Shakira Khan, after another drama was set to kick off.
Throughout the series Shakira has found herself in the middle of villa drama, from love triangles to war of words with some of the other girls, and secret conversations being exposed. This week fans saw Shakira and villa pal Toni Laites discussing their co-stars Meg and Dejon deciding to make their romance official.
Dejon had asked Meg to be his girlfriend on a date away from the villa and she said yes, before they told the other Islanders. Both Toni and Shakira made it clear they weren't sure about Dejon's motives for this, only seeming to think Meg was being genuine.
Not even a day later, and this very same moment was featured in a public vote which made it clear it would be played out to the villa. With the annual villa awards, The Grafties, back it means the contestants will be treated to some moments they may not know about.
With different categories and different nominees, it's bound to cause drama when it airs. Toni and Shakira's comments featured as a nomination in one of the categories, and fans are not happy.
Viewers have claimed for weeks that the producers "have something against" Shakira, and Toni, believing they are constantly being "set up" to look bad, or like "mean girls". Just the other day fans believed those editing the show were trying to make Shakira look unkind despite all the drama she had been through.
So when this latest incident happened and it became clear the villa would see this private chat about Dejon and Meg, fans fumed once more over it all. They accused producers yet again of stirring the pot to try and get Shakira booted off the show.
Taking to social media one fan said: "The producers are really trying to make Shakira and Toni feel bad with the grafties. Can't stand what they're doing. Hope the girlies stay strong!"
Another fan agreed: "The only reason the producers brought Meg back was in the hopes Connor would choose her and Shakira would be dumped from the island. Wtf is with this biased bs." A third fan said: "Producers. Can we stop with the anti Shakira agenda please."
This was echoed by another fan who begged: "This year love island producers are weirddddd leave Shakira alone," as another said: "I mean the producers agenda against shakira is getting boring now." A further comment claimed: "You can tell Shakira is going home in the upcoming days the producers are setting her up."
Meanwhile one viewer posted: "The producers are trying to mess Shakira up and I don't like it and they are trying to make her out to be a villain and it's not right and bringing Megan back for what she a mean girl. Why can't they leave Shakira alone they are setting her up I don't like it."
Viewers will have to tune in this week to see which moments win, and what the Islanders make of all the secret goings on. Amid another big dumping on the show, there's less than two weeks before the live final.

Lying on the daybeds, Blu could be heard saying to the boys: 'From the outside you see two sides. 'There's a good side and a bad side, and Megan is sitting on the fence because she doesn't want to get really involved in the whole drama.' He continued: 'It seems like they're really loved,' referencing Shakira and Toni. Adding: 'And the other girls look like the mean girls.' And fans have had their say on social media, hitting out at the 'massive rule break.' One person said: 'Anyone catch Blu literally spilling the beans on public perception. I swear past islanders said there was a rule where they couldn't talk about the outside? All of a sudden that doesn't matter??!!' Someone else penned: 'Producers clearly told them to have the conversation. Blu is trying his hardest to cause as much drama as he can.' A third echoed: 'Love Island should be a bubble once out. No getting back again!' Love Island star is 'sabotaging' rival couple ahead of the final, insist furious fans Someone else added: 'This is awful - the Islanders should not be told what's going on on the outside or it'll change the way they act around each other. Rule break at its finest.' Blu's comments about popularity weren't the only ones he shared from the outside world on Wednesday evening. He also spilled details on what Megan had been up to outside of the villa before she returned. He told the boys that he'd heard she had caught up with ex Tommy on the outside. This information was then relayed to Conor, who then pulled Megan for a chat by the fire pit to question what had been going on in the outside world. But Conor ended up being wary of the boys - something he then relayed to Megan. Megan and Conor were seen chatting casually about the behaviour they've noticed in the villa and wanting to do their best to be there for each other. 'What I will say as I've seen it a lot in here is that when couples are going good, and it's getting to crunch time now, it's convenient that the boys come up with a problem for me and a problem for you to make you act out of character and to make me act out of character and to turn us against each other,' said Conor. Fans have been quick to spot the slights aimed at Megan and Conor's relationship, claiming that Dejon is doing all he can to sabotage them as he feels threatened by the rival couple. One fan said: 'Dejon is just straight up sabotaging other couples now?!' Another added: 'Conor don't feed into it! Doing everything to get the heat off themselves, it's actually so applaudable', followed by laughing face emojis. 6 Blu told the boys that Shakira and Toni were popular Credit: Eroteme 6 Blu said the public can see the divide going on Credit: Eroteme

Love Island series 12 is wrapping a close soon, with fans raving over the latest series of the hit ITV reality dating show. From shocking dumpings and recouplings, to wandering eyes and heads turning, the show has hooked viewers in once again with its never-ending source of drama. Ex-islander Shaughna Phillips spoke to NationalWorld in an exclusive chat on behalf of Card Player and gave her thought on the show's 10th anniversary series. Shaughna, who appeared in the sixth season of the show in 2020, said: 'I think it's been great! I mean, it's been the 10-year series so we were definitely expecting fireworks. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'There's also been less challenges and more twists and turns. As a viewer, that's been great because we all like to see the odd challenge here and there, but they don't actually make any difference to the storyline. Whereas the twists and turns that they've added this year, the dramatic effect is just unmatched.' Former Love Island star Shaughna Phillips has spilled her thoughts on series 12 of the ITV reality show. | Getty Images As for standout moments this series, Shaughan joined Love Island viewers in being hooked into the love triangles that have powered this year's drama. She said: 'The word of the series has been 'triangle'. Every single person in there has been in a triangle at some point. It's the shape of the series!' Shaughna is no stranger to iconic villa moments, having famously uttered 'congrats, hun...' after her then-villa partner Callum Jones shocked fans and his fellow islanders by bringing Molly Smith back from Casa Amor. As for iconic moments this series? 'The whole situation with Harrison, Toni and Lauren. I was actually quite impressed with how the girls handled that,' Shaughna said. 'The girls have had their own issues this series and that could've turned really nasty and it didn't. What I liked personally to see is instead of turning against each other, they turned on Harrison which was just great.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Love Island series 12 has been the year of the 'triangle', according to ex-islander Shaughna Phillips | ITV Series 12 has become a fan-favourite installment of the ITV2 dating show not only for the drama, but for the lack of 'solid couples' in the villa with fans still unsure of a standout winning couple just days before the final airs. Shaughna gave her thoughts, and explained who has impressed her so far, saying: 'It is completely still up in the air. I think this will be the closest vote in years because there are no clear winners. I like that though, it's keeping us all hooked! 'I really like Yas. I think she is real, she doesn't mince her words, she doesn't look like she's putting an act on, she is just who she is. I also really like Cach. Cach is such a lovely guy. So either of their couples. 'But then the thing is, it's not just one person in a couple and I don't know whether Toni or Jamie have enough pull to swing it. I honestly have no idea! I genuinely have no idea who could win it, which is the sign of a good series.' While there has been little solid connections formed in the villa this year, there is one couple who have appeared to speed-run their Love Island relationship. Meg and Dejon have made it exclusive, with Dejon dropping the L-bomb in recent days. Despite taking big steps in their relationship, some fans remain unconvinced of their true connection following Dejon previous wandering eye. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Shaughna has also issued some advice to the islanders on making it 'exclusive' inside the villa, saying: 'I think the worst thing you can do in there is make it official as in 'boyfriend-girlfriend'. Because you have no idea what life is going to be like on the outside. Although you can come back out and you're all in on one person, you should definitely try and stay single until you are outside because the circumstances are just so, so different.' She added: 'You are only in control of yourself. The work opportunities for girls and boys when you come out are so different. Boys often get so many personal appearance opportunities and they're coming out, they're being bombarded with girls, drink, money. It's great, but it's not great if you're in a relationship. So I would stay single for as long as possible.' Love Island, which first aired as we know it in 2015, has faced criticism from some fans who labeled the show as tired and boring before the start of this year's series, but viewers have flooded back in to the show with an uptick in social media interest as drama kicked off in the famous villa. Shaughna said: 'I don't know another show on telly that is quite like it. And I know there's a conversation every single year that goes 'Oh is it not time for Love Island to take a break?'. But they pull in the viewers every single time, they hook us every single time. So no, I don't think it is time.'
