Georgia Mayor, Wife Arrested on Child Molestation, Cruelty Charges
The Decatur County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) announced on Sunday evening the arrest of 38-year-old Joseph Kelly, and his 44-year-old wife Natalie Kelly.
Joseph Kelly is the current mayor of Climax, Georgia. He has been charged with two counts of child molestation. His wife, Natalie, is charged with two counts of cruelty to children in the second degree, as reported by The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
According to the Sheriff's Office release, DCSO had been called Saturday to assist the Georgia Bureau of Investigations. GBI was investigating allegations that Joseph Kelly had sexual contact with multiple minors.
Both Joseph and Natalie Kelly were arrested later that same day by GBI agents and Decatur County Sheriff's Office investigators. They were booked into the Decatur County Jail.
GBI said Joseph Kelly is also employed by the Decatur County School District. According to this Facebook post, Joseph Kelly was a teacher at Bainbridge High School and was also awarded with the "Teacher of the Year" honor. DCSO says at this time, there is no indication that the alleged acts are related to Kelly's employment as Mayor.
Once GBI's investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for prosecution.

‘Winter has arrived': Brisbane, Sydney hit with coldest morning of the year
Millions woke to an icy chill on Thursday morning as a polar snap blanketed much of the southeast coast, marking the coldest morning of the year for Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane. The first week of winter has arrived in Australia in spectacular fashion, with a pressure system and southerly wind bringing cold air and frost to Sydney and spreading into South East Queensland and much of Victoria. Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Jonathan How said the polar conditions were just the beginning. 'We're already sort of feeling the chill across much of eastern Australia,' he told NewsWire, adding it was already stretching into neighbouring states. 'Yesterday was very cold in Sydney and then this morning we've had some very cold temperatures, particularly through the Darling Downs and also inland parts of NSW,' Mr How said. Overnight, temperatures dipped to a chilly 0C in Oakey, 1C in Dalby and 3C in Toowoomba, but conditions were even colder in NSW, plummeting to -7C at Goulburn Airport and across the coast. Sydney woke to a teeth-chattering 7C on Thursday morning, nearly 2C lower than the June average and marking one of the iciest mornings of the year. It was an exceptionally chilly start to the day for Canberra, which recorded -4C on Thursday morning. Temperatures dipped to an icy 4C in Melbourne, also dropping past the 5.3C average for the month. Thursday morning was the coldest for residents in Queensland, with a polar blast so intense that some residents in southern Queensland could be hit with a rare sight of snow. 'Winter has arrived,' Mr How told NewsWire. The chill is set to stick around for the several more days as the icy blast spreads into Victoria and parts of Queensland. 'We are expecting to see some very wintry conditions coming through for NSW and Victoria,' Mr How said. 'Queensland will see that cold air really pushing in later the week, on the weekend and into sort of early next week.' While the skies will be dry for most of the week in Sydney and Brisbane until Saturday, the cold front is expected to trigger thunderstorms, widespread rain, frost and 'lots of snow'. 'We'll see some snowfall from across the Central Tablelands to the west of Sydney on Monday,' Mr How told NewsWire. 'Then by Monday night, that cold air will stretch all the way up into the tablelands.' Between Thursday and Tuesday, Mr How said there could be between 60cm and 70cm of snow across the alpine resorts, spanning Perisher, Thredbo, Mount Hotham, Falls Creek and Mount Buller. '(It's) really good news for the start of the ski season,' Mr How said. 'It would be very windy, so we would see blizzard conditions as well, but very good news for the ski resorts.' As the ski season kicks off on the King's Birthday long weekend, it's not just the tourist alpine regions set to be blanketed with snow – Queensland may also witness a rare sight of snowfall in the southern regions. Snow and flurries are forecast to settle in the southern regions of Queensland, with a forecast of 14mm of snow to fall from late Monday to Tuesday. 'We'll see minimums getting down to below 5C along southern Queensland,' Mr How told NewsWire. 'Brisbane will get pretty cold as well.' Brisbane residents can get used to the cold mornings, with temperatures forecast to dip to single digits for 'some of those mornings next week', though there will be very little chance of rain. While it's not particularly rare for parts of southern Queensland to experience a cold snap, Mr How said the timings aligned perfectly with the first week of winter. '(The conditions) are not out of the ordinary, but given how mild it has been across Queensland (recently), it might be a bit of a shock to the system,' he said. It's a good time to take out the blankets and slippers, as cold conditions are set to stick around for several days. 'It'll stay cool across Queensland for much of the week with those cooler southwesterly winds but mostly dry,' he said, adding temperatures would start to creep back up by the second half of next week. For NSW and Victoria, however, the icy temperatures are likely to continue for much of next week. 'So certainly winter has arrived,' Mr How said. Brisbane residents will feel the chill on Thursday morning but conditions will improve in the afternoon, with sunny skies and a top of 21C. Sydney residents can anticipate a mostly sunny day, with clouds and a slight chance of a shower in the morning near the coast, reaching a top of 17C. It's frosty and a cold morning in Canberra, with light winds and sunny skies and a maximum temperature of 14C. Melbourne residents are also in for a frosty and cold day, with light winds and partly cloudy skies, reaching a top of 15C. It's cloudy skies, frost in the east and a possible shower in the early morning for Hobart, reaching a maximum of 13C. It will be a wet day for Adelaide, with a medium chance of showers in the evening and cloudy skies, with a top of 17C. Perth residents can expect a partly cloudy day with a medium chance of showers and a maximum of 20C. It will be mostly sunny in Darwin, with light winds and a top of 31C.

Qantas reveals major partnership with Aussie retailer
Qantas has just announced it will partner with major Aussie retailer David Jones in a move that will see travellers and shoppers alike benefit hugely. The partnership comes as David Jones prepares to launch its new loyalty program, David Jones Rewards, in October this year. The long-awaited program means shoppers can earn and redeem David Jones Rewards Points and also Qantas Points. Equally, David Jones shoppers will be able to redeem their Qantas Points on a wide range of rewards across the airline's frequent flyer program, including over 20 million reward seats, flight upgrades, hotel stays, and other travel perks. Qantas Loyalty CEO Andrew Glance told the two Australian companies have been in talks for 'several months' over a collaboration. 'We felt the timing was right with David Jones relaunching its loyalty program later this year,' Mr Glance said. 'We also share a really rich history if you look back into the archives. When we recruited our first female cabin crew in 1947, they would actually visit David Jones department stores to be fitted for their uniforms. So, it's great be launching this landmark partnership 80-odd years later.' The move comes as retail rival Myer is set to relaunch its own customer loyalty offering, designed by Myer boss and former Frequent Flyer executive Olivia Wirth. Ms Wirth, who over six years built the Qantas points scheme into an earnings powerhouse, is now ensconced as the executive chair of Myer where she has partnerships with companies like Virgin Australia, Commonwealth Bank and Coles, the Courier Mail reports. Myer does have Qantas as a partner in its Myer One rewards program, however Mr Glance signalled Davod Jones had the better deal, describing it as 'simplistic'. 'This (David Jones) is a deeply integrated partnership, not only through the 40 stores, but also through online, it will provide a deeply integrated experience point of sale and effectively provide benefits across the entire program,' Mr Glance told The Australian. 'So fundamentally different (from Myer). And from our perspective, this is a cornerstone partnership that will be showcased across our audience.' More than half of Qantas frequent flyers have earned points with retailers in the last 12 months – and once launched, shopping at David Jones will unlock billions more points for members in the coming years, according to the airline. 'David Jones is going to be an absolute cornerstone partner for us,' Mr Glance told 'Around two-thirds of all Qantas Points are actually earned on the ground, and a significant portion of that comes from retailers. 'There's an undeniable appetite from our Frequent Flyers to collect more points through their everyday spending, which is why this partnership with David Jones is so exciting.' He said it will help expand the airline's footprint across categories like fashion, beauty, homewares, and electronics. 'Members will be able to earn Qantas points on their everyday purchases at David Jones and then redeem those points for incredible travel experiences or shopping their favourite brands in-store.' David Jones CEO Scott Fyfe said of the 55 million visitors to their physical stores and 110 million visitors to each year, 'we know a large number of our customers are also frequent flyers, so we're thrilled to welcome the national carrier to our department store'. Mr Glance said given two Qantas Frequent Flyers are already loyal or regular David Jones shoppers, they expect the partnership to be 'incredibly well received'. Trump says Putin could participate in Iran talks and will retaliate against Ukraine drone attack
President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin spoke by phone on Wednesday, with the US leader saying his Russian counterpart told him he wanted to participate in Iran nuclear talks and that he would retaliate against Ukraine's recent drone attack. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Mr Trump said that the phone call lasted more than hour, and that the two leaders agreed Iran could not have a nuclear weapon. "President Putin suggested that he will participate in the discussions with Iran and that he could, perhaps, be helpful in getting this brought to a rapid conclusion," Mr Trump said. "Time is running out on Iran's decision pertaining to nuclear weapons, which must be made quickly!" The post also said Iran has been "slow walking" talks. Iran and the US have been engaged in negotiations on a new deal that would put limits on its nuclear programme in exchange for sanctions relief. The US wants Iran to cease enriching uranium under a possible new deal, but Tehran says its programme is for civilian purposes and it has the right to continue. Earlier on Wednesday, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said a US proposal for a nuclear deal ran counter to Tehran's national interests, and that his country would not abandon uranium enrichment. Though Mr Trump said the call "was a good conversation", Mr Putin vowed to retaliate after Kyiv attacked Russian planes, and as a result, there would be no "immediate peace". Mr Putin "did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields", the US President wrote in his post. This a stark turn around for Mr Trump, who took office this year on a promise to swiftly end the war in Ukraine. On Monday, delegates from Russia and Ukraine met briefly in Istanbul for a new round of talks. The day before, Kyiv unleashed a surprise drone offensive that hit Russian airfields across the country, taking out many heavy bombers and surveillance planes. The development comes after the White House on Tuesday confirmed that Mr Trump would attend the Nato summit this month, a meeting that is expected to be dominated by the war in Ukraine. The meetings will come shortly after Mr Trump is set to attend the Group of Seven leaders' summit in Canada, where allies are also expected to discuss ways to end the conflict. During a press briefing on Tuesday White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the President "remains positive at the progress" in the talks.
