Dr. Sudharani said that rapid test kits were supplied to all primary health centres (PHCs) for blood sample testing for suspected dengue cases.
The medical official highlighted the importance of publishing daily updates in newspapers for public awareness. She called for regular TB screenings for suspected patients throughout the district in a phased manner.
Senior officials from the wings of Tuberculosis Control, Immunisation, and Malaria departments took part in the meeting.

New Delhi: The Philippines, one of the top five countries with the highest tuberculosis (TB) burden, faces the challenge of detecting and treating an estimated 1,90,000 missed TB cases each year, an official statement said. In line with the United Nations target to find and treat 2.1 million Tuberculosis cases in the country by 2027, the Philippines' Health Department is stepping up its commitment to strengthen community-level screening and diagnosis through India-made innovative Truenat® systems and ultra-portable X-ray devices. Currently, there are 68 Truenat® devices deployed across the Philippines, enabling rapid, multi-disease molecular testing for TB, HIV, HPV, Hepatitis B & C, and more. A pilot in the Bantayan Islands demonstrated the transformative potential of the platform, achieving a remarkable 1008% increase in TB case detection, as per the statement. Molbio's WHO-endorsed and ICMR-approved solutions for TB detection address critical barriers in the Philippines, such as geographic isolation, underutilization of laboratory testing, and limited access in rural and island communities. The recent approval of the PRORAD Atlas Ultraportable X-ray by the Philippines FDA paves the way for integrated, end-to-end TB screening and diagnosis, ensuring immediate linkage to treatment. Health Secretary of the Philippines Theodore J Herbosa said, "As we intensify our efforts to combat tuberculosis (TB) in the Philippines, the collaboration with India stands as a beacon of innovation and partnership. Over 3 lakh children to be administered deworming tablets in Eluru district
The National Deworming Day (NDD) programme will be held in Eluru district on August 12 (Tuesday) covering all children between the ages 1 and 19 across anganwadi centres, government and government-aided primary, upper primary, high schools, intermediate colleges, ITIs, and first-year degree colleges. Eluru DM&HO P.J. Amrutam in a press release on Monday said that a total of 3,76,263 children will be administered Albendazole tablets to eliminate intestinal worms, such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and tapeworms, with the aim of improving their overall health and development. Children between the age of 1 to 2 would be given half a tablet (200 mg), while those between 2 and 19 full tablet (400 mg). The programme will be implemented through ASHA workers, anganwadi staff, and ANMs in primary and upper primary schools, and through male and female health supervisors in high schools, residential schools, ashram schools, model schools, KGBVs, gurukuls, minority institutions, intermediate colleges, and degree colleges. The tablets will be given after lunch. Teachers, cooks, and staff will be given the tablets first, followed by the students. For those absent on August 12, a 'Mop-up Day' will be conducted on August 20 to ensure complete coverage. The initiative will be monitored at the primary health centre (PHC) level by medical officers and at the mandal level by Mandal Education Officers and CDPOs (Anganwadi Project Officers). Departments including Education, Medical and Health, Women and Child Welfare, Rural Development, Zilla Parishad, Municipal Commissioners, Welfare Hostel authorities, and other concerned officials will participate to ensure 100 per cent implementation of the programme, she added.

Govt plans to provide education to children in Guttikoya hamlets
Hanumakonda: The State Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, and Women & Child Welfare, Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, announced that the government is planning to provide education to children in Guttikoya hamlets and to improve infrastructure in government schools. On Sunday, she inaugurated a newly constructed school in Thogu village of Tadwai mandal, along with District Collector Divakar TS, Additional Collector (Revenue) Ch Mahender, Library Corporation Chairman Ravi Chander, Market Committee Chairperson Rega Kalyani, and Chakravarthi Hospital Managing Director Tharun Reddy. Speaking on the occasion, the minister called for the eradication of illiteracy through education. She said that providing education can bring light into the lives of children. She noted that the area being part of a protected forest posed challenges in obtaining necessary permissions. She appreciated Santosh from the People Helping Center NGO, who has been working with them since the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, to fulfill the goal of educating children in forest areas. She mentioned that Chakravarthi Hospital management had built a school in Takkalapadu last year and now inaugurated another in the Guttikoya hamlet of Togu, which brought her great satisfaction. She praised the voluntary organization for its cooperation, stating that education is a fundamental right for all, and that in tribal areas, NGOs have been instrumental in providing infrastructure and delivering education.
