Manchester United U21s match abandoned after Sekou Kone head injury
Koné, 19, has trained with Ruben Amorim's first-team squad last year and was playing for the club's feeder team against non-League Tamworth when he was injured while defending a corner in the first half.
He was taken straight away from the Lamb Ground in an ambulance for treatment, with referee Ross Martin then calling off the game at half-time.
It was reported that Koné stood up before he was told by medics to return to the ground before getting carried off on a stretcher.
In a statement issued on Wednesday night, a Manchester United spokesperson said: 'Sékou Koné is conscious, stable and communicating with United's medical team. He has been taken to hospital as a precaution for further checks.'

The central midfielder is highly regarded at Old Trafford, joining a year ago from Guidars FC in his native Mali. He was sent to the prestigious Maurice Revello under-20 tournament this summer for international experience.
But he has also been around Amorim's squad last season when he looked to utilise youngsters, although his United appearances have come for the under-21s.
It was revealed earlier in the summer that United player-coach Tommy Rowe was taking French lessons to help Koné settle in England during his first years in the country.
'Tommy has been brilliant with him,' said under-21s coach Travis Binnion. 'He must have been on holiday to the south of France with how his French is coming on. He will sit in Sékou's English lessons just so he can pick it up.
'They do analysis and translate it through the language tutor.
'Sekou has a long way to go. He can get through three games in a week now for us, but he wouldn't be able to do that at first-team level because he's not quite there yet. His decision-making will make that easier for him, physically. It is a long-term project with him, but his ability is there for all to see.'

Yoane Wissa's future needs to be resolved soon – Brentford boss Keith Andrews
Brentford boss Keith Andrews does not know how Yoane Wissa's transfer situation will play out. Wissa was not involved in Sunday's Premier League opener at Nottingham Forest, where the Bees went down to a 3-1 defeat. The 28-year-old wants to follow Bryan Mbeumo and Christian Norgaard out of the club during the summer transfer window, with Newcastle strongly linked with a bid, and Andrews said before the match he was not in the right head space to play. 'It's a day-by-day one in terms of Wiss,' the Irishman said. 'As far as I know nothing else has happened today, definitely didn't yesterday, so as it was really. 'I have no idea what the situation will be, I have been up here since yesterday so we will deal with that during the week. 'Hopefully it can resolve itself sooner rather than later.' Andrews, whose first game in management could not have gone much worse as Forest rampaged to a 3-0 half-time lead thanks to Chris Wood's double and Dan Ndoye's header, insists the club-record signing of Dango Ouattara will not start a domino effect of movement. 'I don't see it, I see Dango as Bryan's replacement in terms of that area of the pitch, I see him as a versatile forward that I am really happy we have managed to get on board,' Andrews added, after seeing Igor Thiago score a second-half penalty. 'We weren't really aware he would be available, as soon as we knew it was a pretty easy decision to get him on board. 'Thankfully the club have been able to do that and it is a really significant investment for us. It will be a brilliant investment.' Forest made a mockery of Nuno Espirito Santo's pre-match worries. Nuno expressed his 'concern' for the campaign ahead of the match, citing a lack of options in his squad. After new signings Omari Hutchinson and James McAtee were unveiled before kick-off, their new team-mates put on a show. But Nuno says the display does not change Forest's situation, with Arnaud Kalimuendo having a medical ahead of a move from Rennes and links to Juventus' Douglas Luiz and Manchester City's Rico Lewis. 'The needs of the squad are still there, it doesn't change anything,' he said. 'We are going to go day-by-day. 'We still need. Hopefully this work continues. The sooner we settle down the squad the better. 'The club knows the needs of the squad so we have to be patient and see. The faster they come, the better. 'This week a lot of things are going to happen, not only Forest, I think a lot of teams are still operating in the market. We have to wait and be patient. 'Of course (I feel better). It doesn't change, the needs are clear, the club knows. Now I am delighted, I just want to go home and celebrate because it is a beautiful start to the season. I couldn't have expected better than this.'

Nottingham Forest ease Nuno Espirito Santo's fears by sweeping aside Brentford
Nottingham Forest made a mockery of Nuno Espirito Santo's pre-match worries as they beat Brentford 3-1 in their opening game of the Premier League season. Nuno expressed his 'concern' for the campaign ahead of the match, citing a lack of options in his squad, but he will feel better after a rampant display at the City Ground. Advertisement After new signings Omari Hutchinson and James McAtee were unveiled before kick-off, their new team-mates put on a show as Chris Wood's double and a debut goal for Dan Ndoye put them 3-0 up at the break. With more signings to come and a Europa League journey to look forward to after last season's seventh-place finish, Forest fans may have more optimism than their manager after this opener. It was the start that new Brentford boss Keith Andrews would have dreaded. With Bryan Mbeumo and Christian Norgaard sold over the summer and Yoane Wissa effectively on strike trying to force a move away, Andrews has not been handed the easiest of tasks in his first managerial role. Advertisement Igor Thiago got the Bees on the scoresheet with a second-half penalty, but life after Thomas Frank began poorly. Forest had only scored one goal in six excruciating pre-season friendlies, but they needed just six minutes to break the deadlock. Elliot Anderson's corner fell to Wood and the striker picked up where he left off last season by slamming home the loose ball from close range. Such was the novelty of scoring a goal, the celebrations on the touchline were wild, with goalkeeping coach Rui Barbosa needing medical treatment after hitting his head on the roof of the dugout and suffering a nasty cut. Advertisement Forest were electric and almost scored a brilliant team goal as new signing Ndoye, Morgan Gibbs-White and Anderson all combined, with the latter seeing a goalbound shot well blocked by Sepp van den Berg. Brentford looked to establish themselves in the game and forced goalkeeper Matz Sels into a good save when Yehor Yarmolyuk fizzed in a low shot. But Forest continued to dominate and two goals in five minutes before half-time sent them into dreamland. In the 42nd minute Gibbs-White arced in a delicious cross for Ndoye to send a flying header into the top corner. Advertisement Then in the second minute of time added on Wood doubled his tally when he latched on to Anderson's through ball and rounded Caoimhin Kelleher to put it in an empty net. Forest were irresistible after the break as they searched for more goals. Callum Hudson-Odoi, on the brink of signing a new contract, stung the palms of Kelleher before Gibbs-White hooked an acrobatic effort just over the crossbar. Brentford brought on Jordan Henderson in the 68th minute as they tried to stem the tide and 10 minutes later they had reduced their deficit. Advertisement Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangare handled the ball in the area and Thiago rolled home the resulting penalty. There was no grandstand finish, though, as Forest got their season off to a winning start.
