Tyreek Hill Trolls Noah Lyles After Calling Off Race for 'Personal Reasons'
A race between Olympic 100-meter champion Noah Lyles and Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill that was never formally announced but supposedly taking place this weekend was called off by Lyles for "personal reasons."
Lyles announced the cancelation Tuesday at Stagwell's Sport Beach event in Cannes, France. His news was captured in a video posted by the New York Post on Instagram.
This postponement followed months of trash talk between the two sports stars. Lyles said in his chat at the Cannes event the showdown with Hill was going to take place in Times Square.
"Unfortunately, there were some things — complications, personal reasons, that it just didn't come to pass, but we were full in," Lyles said in the video. "We were going to have a big event."
Hill posted on social media a series of pictures with Lyles' face on Homer Simpson's animated character as Simpson retreated into the hedges.
Hill also wrote: " @LylesNoah after seeing me run the 100m last weekend." The 31-year-old Hill ran 10.15 seconds in a race last Friday in California. He held up a sign that read: "Noah Could Never."
It was in response to the 27-year-old Lyles flashing a piece of paper that said "Tyreek Could Never" after winning a 60-meter indoor race in February. Following Lyles' announcement to back out of the race, Hill piled on with more teasing comments.
Lyles captured Olympic 100-meter gold in Paris last summer in a time that calculated out to 9.784 seconds. It was five-thousandths of a second faster than Kishane Thompson of Jamaica.
Following Lyles' decision to opt out of the race, the two rivals will have to look for another time to decide the bragging rights and find out who's quicker.
"It was going to be a lot of fun," Lyles said in the video.

MLS' leading goal scorer Tai Baribo and family stuck in Israel amid Iran conflict
Major League Soccer's leading scorer and his family have been stuck in Israel since conflict in the region broke out between the Jewish state and Iran. Philadelphia Union forward Tai Baribo has been unable to return to the United States because of the closure of airports in Israel, which has faced missile strikes from Iran after the nation struck nuclear and military sites inside Iran last week, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. 3 Philadelphia Union forward Tai Baribo (9) controls the ball in front of FC Dallas midfielder Kaick Ferriera (55) during a 0-0 draw between the two teams at Toyota Stadium on May 31. Yankees shut out again by Angels as scoreless streak hits 29 innings in fifth straight loss
The murmurs transitioned to grumbles before blooming into part exasperation, part boos. The fan frustration showering the Yankees on Tuesday was far louder than their bats. The Yankees' offense has gone AWOL, an out-of-nowhere stretch of silence in three consecutive shutouts. The team-wide funk deepened Tuesday, when they pushed their scoreless streak to 29 consecutive innings during a 4-0 loss to the Angels in front of 35,278 fans — who tried their best to voice their displeasure over the blaring speakers in The Bronx. 4 Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge (99) reacts after he strikes out looking during the first inning against the Los Angeles Angels at Yankee Stadium. Bill Kostroun/New York Post An offense that had scored the most runs in the American League (370) after Saturday's defeat in Boston has not added to that total since. The Yankees (42-30) have lost a season-high five straight games because a group that has more effective hitters than lineup spots has simultaneously gone frigid. Aaron Judge has found his first slump of the season, 3-for-24 in his past seven games after going hitless with three strikeouts Tuesday. 4 DJ LeMahieu (26) reacts after he strikes out looking during the third inning of the Yankees and Los Angeles Angels game. Bill Kostroun/New York Post The bats around him have followed their leader. The Yankees finished with four hits and crucially zero that amounted to anything: After a night they left five more on base, the Yankees have gone 1-for-25 with runners in scoring position over the three shutouts. They had a chance in the first inning, when Cody Bellinger reached second base on a hustle double. That chance was wasted when Giancarlo Stanton grounded out. 4 Jazz Chisholm Jr. (13) reacts after he lines out during the fourth inning of the Yankees and Los Angeles Angels game at Yankee Stadium. Bill Kostroun/New York Post 4 Pitcher Will Warren (98) reacts after Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (3) hits a two-run RBI single during the third inning of the Yankees and Los Angeles Angels game Bill Kostroun/New York Post They had a chance in the third inning, when new-look leadoff hitter Jasson Domínguez looped a single into center field and stole second. But with two outs, Bellinger flew out, and the groans from the crowd intensified. They did not have a third chance. This time it was 35-year-old Kyle Hendricks who shut down the Yankees over six innings in which he struck out nine — his most since all the way back on Sept. 18, 2020. The righty entered play with a 5.20 ERA in his first 13 starts, in which he punched out just 5.58 per nine innings.
