Avalanche D Josh Manson signs two-year extension
Manson, 33, has spent three-plus seasons with the Avalanche after beginning his NHL career with the Anaheim Ducks, though he was limited to 48 games in 2024-25 due to injury.
He tallied 15 points (one goal, 14 assists) in that time and has amassed 57 points (13 goals, 44 assists) and 443 hits in 173 games for Colorado. Manson was a trade deadline acquisition for the Avs in 2022, and he helped the team win the Stanley Cup a few months later (three goals, five assists in 20 playoff games).
"Josh has been an important member of our blue line since joining the team during the 2022 stretch run," Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland said in a statement. "He is a steady and tough defender who chips in on the offensive side at key times. He is also a veteran leader in our dressing room, and we are excited to have him under contract for another three seasons."
Across 11 seasons with Anaheim (2014-22) and Colorado, Manson has tallied 39 goals, 131 assists and 1,526 hits in 626 games.

But that moment on the 14th was the biggest moment of the day for him - with the jeer interfering with his stroke. 'If you give me crap, I'll give you crap back,' he said. '... if they do it outside the shot, it's fair game, but don't do it within the shot that's going to affect myself or Scottie.' As for his playing partner's point of view, Scheffler said that he wasn't aware of what was being said. 'People have a tendency to say things that are dumb. I can think of a few things that were said to me in the final round in Ireland [during The Open at Royal Portrush] that were very far over the line,' Scheffler said. 'If you're a fan, it's only going to fire the guy up more, and I think just do your best to behave out there. It can be a little bit silly sometimes.' MacIntyre is hoping to seal his first win of the season on Sunday and take home a massive chunk of the $20million purse at the second phase of the FedEx Cup playoffs.

Astros' Yordan Alvarez to begin rehab assignment Tuesday
August 17 - Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez will begin a rehab assignment for Double-A Corpus Christi on Tuesday, manager Joe Espada said on Sunday. Per Espada, Alvarez will play "a few games" and serve as the Hooks' designated hitter Tuesday as he works his way back from a fractured right hand that has sidelined him for approximately 3 1/2 months. The three-time All-Star returned to Houston on Sunday after completing rehab work at the club's spring training facility in West Palm Beach, Fla.
