Comedy hailed as 'the best show on TV right now' is cancelled after 4 seasons
Resident Alien first premiered in 2021, with Superman star Alan Tudyk leading the cast alongside Linda Hamilton, Nathan Fillion, Michael Cassidy and Sara Tomko.
The cult classic sci-fi series airs on USA, and is also available to stream on Netflix in the UK.
It is based on the comic book of the same name, following alien Harry after he crash lands in a small town in Colorado and befriends the locals.
Unfortunately for his new pals, it turns he's actually on a secret mission to kill everyone on Earth, but is forced to blend into his surroundings by pretending to be a doctor.
Although the fourth season is currently unfolding on our screens, TV bosses have confirmed that the upcoming episodes will be the last.
Creator Chris Sheridan spoke to TV Insider about the show coming to an end, explaining: 'I knew going into it that this was likely going to be our final season.
'Creatively, that was exciting because I knew we could spend the time wrapping up some storylines and driving toward an ending.
'I'm so proud of how good season four is and especially proud that we were able to finish as strongly as we did, with a finale that is probably my favorite episode of the series.'
That finale is set to air on August 8, meaning there isn't too long to wait to see how Harry and the gang end up.
Alan reacted to the news on Threads, posting: 'It was a hell of a fun playground to play in. Laughter through the tears:))).'
Resident Alien currently claims a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes – with seasons two and four landing perfect 100% rankings from critics.
Heaping praise on the program, Zack S commented: 'The best show on TV right now!' More Trending
'I've rewatched this show many times and it still makes me laugh,' Bildad T agreed.
Diana R hailed: 'This is my favorite show by far!! I could and do watch all seasons on repeat.
'The humor and acting are top notch! Looking forward to more seasons!!!'

As Elizabeth C added: 'Resident Alien is scifi humor at its best. Sometimes shows like this diminish as the seasons go on, but I was exceedingly happy to see that Season 4 is just as good as the previous seasons.'

They share their strong feelings for one another and, later on in the episode, Harry chooses to recouple with Shakira, leaving Helena and Blu to coupe up. Just a short time later, Harry and Shakira have been seen getting very close in a preview clip played on Love Island's After Sun. Maya played the clip to the panellist and audience members, all of which audibly gasped as they watched Harry snuggle into Shakira and kiss her neck. The 22-year-old could be seen sat on Harry's lap, as the footballer cradled her in the girls' dressing room. She told him they'd be taking "baby steps" as he nestled into her neck after getting their relationship back on track. Eyeing up her lips, Harry leans in to snog Shakira, but she quickly turns away, allowing him to kiss her cheek instead. Earlier in the episode, Harry tells her: 'I have really tried with her [Helena], but we [Shakira and I] had like a week and it was, for me, the feelings were obviously way stronger and still are. "I'm sorry I never like tried again. I really thought the door was just, like, slammed.' Harry and Helena break down in tears as they cut final romantic ties in emotional scenes Shakira responds: 'Do you want some home truths… it's obviously the way you go about it and the steps you take in between to come to these conclusions obviously hurt people along the way. "It's all well and good you saying 'hold my hands up guys, sorry' but you still hurt people. And it's a pattern.' Harry then makes his intentions clear, saying: 'Look, I'm either leaving here alone or with you.' Both Harry and Helena broke down in tears multiple times in Sunday night's episode, as they cut their final romantic ties in emotional scenes. The duo have continued to deal with the fallout from The Grafties on the long-running ITV2 show. Helena told Harry: "You're so selfish, you've literally broken my heart Harry. Like I cannot be your friend in here. "And I will not be your friend on the outside, I can f****** promise you that. I don't want any association with you ever again." When he suggested that the duo may eventually become friends on the outside, she shut him down once again. "I don't think we will be friends Harry. You don't possess any morals or values that I look for when I'm becoming friends with people. "My friends don't treat me like that. I don't think you have an ounce of respect for me, you've literally ruined everything for me in here." She added: "I literally don't want anything to do with you Harry." That's when the footballers couldn't help but tear up after listening to her resounding words of rejection. Helena added: "I feel like I had something genuine in here and it's like obviously it wasn't. "I just feel so stupid because you clearly haven't felt the same as I felt about you this whole time." She couldn't help but wrap her arms around his neck in a gesture of pity as she caressed his face one more time. As they let go she exclaimed: "It's where the journey ends my darling!" 5 The pair were seen gazing at each other in a sneak preview Credit: ITV

As Harry tells Shakira he'd "buried his feelings" for her, Helena can be seen coming up the stairs. They continue to chat but soon both fall silent as Helena walks through the room they are in, to grab a head band. She soon runs back down the stairs and Shakira then says: "I do feel really bad for her." Meanwhile, Helena jumps into bed with Conor to discuss what she's just seen. The sad Love Islander explains: "They're both in the upstairs lounge talking. "Me and him are coupled up and exclusive right now, it's actually mental." Elsewhere, Helena is left heartbroken in Sunday night's episode as things come to an end romantically between her and Harry. The blonde beauty tells the footballer that he's "broken her heart" before they embrace in the snug and both cry into each other's arms. Harry admits: 'I didn't, I just buried it all. I just didn't address any of my feelings and we were flying…' Helena responds emotionally: 'I thought I had something genuine in here.' Later, Shakira questions Harry's sudden change in behaviour, telling him: 'Like, how you're feeling now is not making sense from what I've seen for the past however many weeks.' When she asks, 'What are we doing?', Harry simply replies: 'I don't know.' Amid the chaos, some fans have speculated that Harry and Shakira could well get back together, especially with the impending recouple which will see the boys choose the girl they want to couple up with.
