Your Android phone can now control more of your PC, and here's how

Tushar Mehta / Android Authority
TL;DR Microsoft is updating its Link to Windows app on Android, enabling you to access your PC more easily.
The update allows you to view the PC's battery status, recent files, and clipboard from your Android devices.
The update also allows you to lock your Windows PCs remotely using your phone.
Microsoft's Phone Link is the closest (and most trustworthy) means to create an Apple-like continuity between your Android phone and a Windows PC. The app already allows you to view your phone's notifications, messages, and media on your PC, take calls, and share files between both devices. The Android device, however, gets limited functionality, which Microsoft may now be looking to change.
On the Android side, Microsoft's Link to Windows app serves as the terminal for creating and managing the cross-device connectivity features. Since it is already popular, with over a billion downloads on the Play Store, Microsoft could improve its service by adding features that enable remote control of the PC from a mobile device.
Microsoft recently announced a significant update to the Link to Windows app. The update introduces new features, including the ability to remotely lock your Windows PC from a connected phone, check vitals such as battery and Wi-Fi status, or cast your phone's screen without interacting with the PC app. These features were previously spotted in Windows' dev channels and are now being rolled out to more users through the broader Insider channels.
Along with these improvements, the Link to Windows can now be used to send files directly, without relying separately on Android's share sheet. More excitingly, the Link to Windows app will now also allow you to view recent files and access your PC's clipboard on your phone. The Android app is also getting an updated interface, as seen below:
Microsoft
Microsoft isn't rolling these features out to the stable channels of Windows 11 just yet, and you must be using one of the Insider builds to enjoy them. Alternatively, you can sign up to be a Windows Insider. Additionally, you will need to sign up for the beta for Link to Windows on the Play Store by scrolling down on the app listing, such that you are running version 1.25071.155 of the app on your phone.
Lastly, once you have completed these requirements, go to Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mobile devices > Manage devices on your PC, select your Android device, and enable the required toggles to access the new features on your phone.

Microsoft study shows jobs most — and least — impacted by generative AI

Roofers and other jobs requiring physical labor are least vulnerable to AI impact, according to a study from Microsoft. (Photo by Zohair Mirza on Unsplash) AI may be coming for your job — but not if you're operating machinery, building tires, or replacing roofs. A new study from Microsoft reveals which jobs are most — and least — susceptible to generative AI, based on an analysis of 200,000 anonymized conversations with Bing Copilot users in 2024. The study mapped conversations to work activities using the U.S. government's job classification system and calculated an 'AI applicability score' for each occupation. Knowledge work and communication-focused occupations dominate the high-vulnerability categories. Jobs involving manual labor, physical presence, or machinery operation ranked lowest. The research is unique because it analyzed actual AI usage from Copilot conversations in 2024 rather than relying on theoretical assessments. The researchers noted that their data only shows AI capability overlap with work activities, not actual job displacement. Historical examples show automation can sometimes increase rather than decrease employment in affected sectors. 'We measured how AI capabilities overlap with work activities, but it remains to be seen how different occupations refactor their work responsibilities in response to AI's rapid progress,' they wrote in the study. 'It could be that jobs change which activities they encompass, as in the case of bank tellers and ATMs. In addition, entirely new occupations may emerge due to the rise of AI, performing new types of work activities.' Here were the top 25 occupations most and least impacted by AI, based on the AI applicability score in the study. Most impacted: Interpreters and Translators Historians Passenger Attendants Sales Representatives (Services) Writers and Authors Customer Service Representatives CNC Tool Programmers Telephone Operators Ticket Agents and Travel Clerks Broadcast Announcers and Radio DJs Brokerage Clerks Farm and Home Management Educators Telemarketers Concierges Political Scientists News Analysts, Reporters, and Journalists Mathematicians Technical Writers Proofreaders and Copy Markers Hosts and Hostesses Editors Business Teachers, Postsecondary Public Relations Specialists Demonstrators and Product Promoters Advertising Sales Agents Least impacted:

Spotify Stock Bounces Back from Its Post-Earnings Plunge, But is SPOT Stock a Buy Right Now?

Spotify Technology S.A. (SPOT) shares declined by more than 11% last Tuesday, marking the company's worst performance on a single day since July 2023. The decline was preceded by a disappointing Q2 earnings report that fell short of Wall Street forecasts on the top and bottom lines, and was coupled with subdued guidance for the next quarter. The news left many investors surprised, as the platform's growth continues in the area of audiobooks and AI-driven music discovery tools. However, the broader technology industry remains healthy. Big names like Meta (META), Microsoft (MSFT), and eBay (EBAY) have reported robust earnings, demonstrating ongoing consumption behaviors online. Plus, Phillips Capital upgraded Spotify to 'Neutral' from 'Reduce' in the wake of its post-earnings retreat. Is now the time to consider adding Spotify shares? Here's a closer look. About Spotify (SPOT) Stock Spotify Technology S.A. (SPOT) is the world's leading audio streaming company based in Stockholm, Sweden. It covers music, podcasting, as well as audiobooks, with paid subscription and advertisement-driven streaming as sources of earned revenues. The market capitalization of Spotify is $128.38 billion. SPOT shares have surged 100.7% in the past 52-week span, handily outgaining the S&P 500 Index's ($SPX) ~18% gain in that same period. The shares have, however, retraced by about 15% off their June highs at $785. Even following the pullback, one of the primary points of contention for the stock is its valuation. SPOT is valued at roughly 98 times forward adjusted earnings with a 6.46 price-to-sales ratio, much higher than most of its peers. Even if those multiples may be a vote of confidence on Spotify's long-term growth and scale narrative, they don't do much to alleviate fears of whether the company is already priced for perfection after the year of frenzied run-up. Spotify is a growth stock that pays no dividend currently. The company's strategy remains on reinvestment for future development and not capital return. Spotify Falls Short on Earnings Spotify generated Q2 2025 revenues of €4.19 billion, below the estimated €4.26 billion. More concerning was the unexpected net loss of €86 million, or €0.42 per share, versus the estimated €1.90 in earnings on the Street. The poor showing was driven by higher personnel and marketing expenses, as well as €115 million of so-called 'social charges,' which are payroll taxes on equity compensation tied to the recent rally in its shares. Management predicted Q3 2025 revenue of €4.2 billion, far short of consensus views of €4.47 billion. The firm noted a 490-basis-point forex headwind and macro volatility as key reasons behind the conservative guide. However, user growth remains healthy. Monthly users grew 11% year-over-year to 696 million, while paying subscribers grew 12% to 276 million. Spotify is guiding for 710 million users and 281 million paying subscribers by the end of Q3. There was more interaction with brand-new functionality in the quarter, like its AI-powered DJ - whose use more than doubled year-over-year - as well as playing of audiobooks, where usage surged 35% across America, Great Britain, and Australia. CEO Daniel Ek did criticize execution failures, but believes in the long-term plan: 'While I'm unhappy with where we are today, I remain confident in the ambitions we laid out for this business, and we're working quickly to ensure we're on the right path.' Spotify also revealed a $1 billion extension of the share buyback program, demonstrating optimism in the stock's intrinsic value despite near-term volatility in earnings. What Do Analysts Expect for Spotify Stock? Currently, 32 analysts cover SPOT stock, and rate it with a 'Moderate Buy' consensus. Spotify's mean price target is $738.12, indicating 10.7% expected additional upside from current levels. The top price target on the Street is $900, and the most negative estimate foresees the risk of declining as far as $484 - a reflection of the volatility and valuation sensitivity of the company.
