Meet Steven Spielberg's daughter Destry: she's a filmmaker and ex-equestrian who has fought accusations of nepotism – and comedian Tracy Morgan just threw up near her at a Knicks game

When Steven Spielberg's youngest daughter, Destry Allyn Spielberg, rocked up to a recent New York Knicks basketball game at Madison Square Garden, she probably expected her courtside experience to be full of adrenalin-pumping thrills. Unfortunately, the drama arrived in a different form when comedian
Tracy Morgan suddenly fell sick with a bout of food poisoning and threw up beside her.
Spielberg and Morgan later chose to bring a little levity to the situation. In an Instagram Story, Spielberg shared a photo of herself at the game, zooming in on her uncomfortable expression and writing, 'I had a great time', followed by another shot of Morgan vomiting on the floor. Lest the posts be mistaken for mean-spirited, she clarified, 'Genuinely so glad he's okay. Honestly thank you for making my first courtside game one to remember. I will never forget this one.' In the same spirit, Morgan posted a photo from his hospital bed with the caption: 'The Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court, so maybe I'll have to break it out again in the playoffs.'

As Studio Ghibli turns 40, fans worry about its future once Hayao Miyazaki retires

Japan's Studio Ghibli turns 40 this month with two Oscars and legions of fans young and old won over by its films' complex plots and hand-drawn animation. The studio behind the Oscar-winning Spirited Away has become a cultural phenomenon since Miyazaki and the late Isao Takahata established it in 1985. Its popularity has been fuelled recently by a second Academy Award in 2024 for The Boy and the Heron, with a voice cast including Robert Pattinson, and by Netflix streaming Ghibli films around the world. Play In March, the internet was flooded with pictures in its distinctively nostalgic style after the release of OpenAI's newest image generator – raising questions over copyright.

NBA Finals 2025: when is Thunder v Pacers, where can I watch the series?

The best-of-seven NBA Finals for 2025 are upon us, with the Indiana Pacers taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder. Last season's winners, the Boston Celtics, failed to defend their title after losing to the New York Knicks in the second round of the Eastern Conference play-offs, meaning that for the seventh straight season there will be no back-to-back champions. It also means that for the first time in NBA history, there will be seven different winners in seven consecutive seasons. When are the NBA Finals? As the Thunder had the best league record, they will have home-court advantage when Game 1 begins on June 6 at 8.30am for those watching in Hong Kong (June 5, 8.30pm EDT). Indiana Pacers celebrate after victory in the Eastern Conference Finals. Photo: AFP Both teams will play back-to-back home matches with Game 4 – the earliest point at which the play-offs could be decided – on June 14 at 8.30am. Should they be needed, Games 5 to 7 will alternate with the Thunder hosting Games 5 and 7. The potential final decider would be on June 23 at 8am. Where can I watch the NBA Finals? Those in Hong Kong can follow all the action on Now TV, while fans in Singapore can use the NBA League Pass. If you're watching in Malaysia, will be your go-to, while streaming services such as Hulu + Live TV, Fubo or YouTube TV will also show the Finals.

Knicks fire Thibodeau as coach after NBA playoff exit

Knicks fire Thibodeau as coach after NBA playoff exit Thibodeau spent five seasons as head coach of the Knicks. Photo: Reuters Tom Thibodeau was fired as coach of the New York Knicks, three days after his team was ousted from the NBA playoffs by the Indiana Pacers. The Knicks, who have not won the NBA title since 1973, fell to Indiana in six games in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Finals, falling short of reaching the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999 despite their best playoff run in 25 years. Thibodeau spent five seasons as coach of the Knicks, guiding New York into the playoffs four times, this being their deepest run after losing in the second round the past two seasons. New York dethroned NBA 2024 champion Boston in round two. The 67-year-old American, a former Chicago and Minnesota head coach, is 578-420 as an NBA coach and went 226-174 with the Knicks, who signed him to a three-year contract extension last year. "Our organization is singularly focused on winning a championship for our fans," Knicks President Leon Rose said in a statement. "This pursuit led us to the difficult decision to inform Tom Thibodeau that we've decided to move in another direction." "We can't thank Tom enough for pouring his heart and soul into each and every day of being the New York Knicks head coach," he added. "He led us not only with class and professionalism for the past five seasons, but also to tremendous success on the court with four playoff berths and four playoff series victories. "Ultimately, we made the decision we feel is best for our organization moving forward. Tom will always be a part of our Knicks family and we truly wish him nothing but the best in the future." Thibodeau was a two-time NBA Coach of the Year, with Chicago in 2011 and the Knicks in 2021, and was an assistant coach on the staff of the 2008 NBA champion Boston Celtics. Among those who were Thibodeau supporters was actor and celebrity Knicks fan Ben Stiller, a familiar face in courtside seats during the playoffs. "I am a Tom Thibodeau fan," Stiller posted on X. "He brought this team back. I felt he gave every bit of himself and was always looking to improve." "I will always be grateful for how far he brought the Knicks. They are relevant again. They are championship contenders again. The Knicks became winners again with him," he added. (AFP)
