Several area students were named to the Dean's List at Lakeview College of Nursing for the semester.
Students who are enrolled in at least six credit hours at Lakeview College of Nursing and who achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale are named to the Dean's List for the semester.
Area students named to the Deans' List were Tayelor Lowe, Tinlee Shepherd and Bailey McMasters, Danville; Arian Dodge, Fithian; and Hazelyn Hunter of Sidell.
Lakeview College of Nursing offers a bachelor of science in nursing degree. It is a single-purpose, private institution that has specialized in nursing education in the Danville, IL, area since 1894.

Two sisters killed in three-vehicle crash in Logan County
MORRISON BLUFF, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Two sisters were killed in a three-vehicle crash in Logan County late Friday night, according to a crash report. The report by Arkansas State Police said around 11:17 p.m. said a 2010 Toyota was traveling south on State Highway 109 across the Morrison Bluff Bridge as an 18-wheeler was traveling north. A 2011 Chevrolet was traveling behind the Toyota, the report noted. The Chevrolet hit the rear of the Toyota, causing it to cross the centerline and collide with the 18-wheeler, according to the report. The driver of the Toyota, identified as MacKenzie Arthur, 20, of Scranton, and the passenger, a minor, were killed in the crash. Arkansas Tech University confirmed that MacKenzie Arthur and her sister, Maddie Arthur, died in the crash. No other injuries were reported in the crash. 'Mackenzie was a sweet soul,' Dr. Justin Killingsworth, interim head of the ATU Department of Agriculture and Tourism and associate professor of agricultural education, said. 'She was quiet in class, but she did great work. Mackenzie would have been an amazing teacher. She was a great person, and our hearts go out to the Arthur family.' The Scranton School District said in a social media post that Maddie Arthur was going to be a senior this upcoming school year and MacKenzie Arthur graduated in 2023 from the district. 'MacKenzie and Maddie brought light, love, and laughter to all who knew them,' SSD said in the post. 'Their memory will forever be a part of us, and their impact on our lives will never fade.' Lakeview Nursing College names Brassard Interim Dean
Jan. 18—Gina Brassard, of Milford, has been named interim dean of nursing at Lakeview College of Nursing (LCN). She will replace Brittany Lawson, who has returned to teaching full-time at LCN and will become the director of assessment for LCN. "Dr. Brassard's extensive leadership and deep commitment to nursing education make her an exceptional choice for this critical role. With over thirty-five years in healthcare, she holds a Doctor of Education in Ethical Leadership and a Master of Science in Nursing — Leadership and Management. Her expertise will be instrumental in guiding our nursing program," LCN President Sheila Mingee said. Brassard's nursing experience spans from medical-surgical, telemetry, and case management for intensive care, medical, surgical, and education units. She has also served as director of nursing for a resident home prior to beginning her role as a faculty member at LCN in 2019. "I'm excited to learn this new role and to serve the College and its students in a different way," Brassard said. While at LCN, Brassard served as director of assessment and an associate professor. She has taught several courses at Lakeview, including the following: Adult Health I, Basic Concepts of Pharmacology, Population and Global Health, Leadership and Management, and Concept Synthesis. She has also served as the chair of LCN's curriculum committee and as a member of the admissions committee. Brassard received the Illinois Nurse Educator Fellowship from the Illinois Board of Higher Education in 2021. She has also received numerous nominations for a DAISY award from the students at LCN for extraordinary compassionate and skillful care as a faculty member. As a member of the Alpha Alpha Delta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, she has served as a board member, vice president, and secretary for this International Honor Society chapter. She is also a member of the Sigma Kappa Chapter for Nursing and a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success through Olivet Nazarene University. Additionally, she is a restorative nurse, an ATI Champion, and holds resident assessment coordinator certification (RAC-CT) and online instructor certification. Beyond her professional roles, she remains committed to community service. She actively volunteers as a nurse consultant and board member for the ABRA (mentally disabled adults) and is an MDS consultant, demonstrating her belief in giving back and supporting broader healthcare and educational missions.
