Amanda Holden has finally put to rest a bizarre rumour that has been circulating for over 20 years, following her split from husband Les Dennis. The Britain's Got Talent judge married Les, who is 18 years her senior, in 1995, but their whirlwind romance ended in 2002.
Their breakup was marred by reports of Amanda's alleged affair with her co-star Neil Morrissey, and amidst the fallout, a rumour emerged that Les had found solace in the arms of none other than legendary singer Diana Ross.
However, Amanda has now set the record straight, revealing that the woman in question was actually her friend Jane Wall, an actress who was living in her house at the time. "I hate to bring it up, but when I was going through a divorce, my friend Jane Wall, who is a mixed-race actress, was living in my house," Amanda explained on the Tea at Four podcast.

"We were helping her, she was living there basically so she could save up for a mortgage, and it [reports] said, my then-husband was being 'comforted by Diana Ross'. So that was hilarious."
Jane, who was mistaken for Diana, is a familiar face from her role as Detective Inspector Di Worrell in ITV soap The Bill. At the time of the rumour, Jane remained tight-lipped about the confusion, while Les spoke out in 2004, dismissing the claim as "particularly ridiculous", reports the Mirror.
Amanda found her happily ever after with Chris Hughes, tying the knot in 2008, and together they have two daughters, Lexi and Hollie.
She is now at the helm of Netflix's latest offering, Cheat: Unfinished Business – a gripping series aiding eight former couples torn apart by infidelity.
Tasked with revisiting their relationship issues at an opulent retreat, the ex-partners receive assistance from Married At First Sight UK's relationship guru Paul C. Brunson.
Even with her own past indiscretions, Amanda confessed difficulty in staying impartial while engaging with the show's participants. On the One Show, she revealed: "Oh my God it was very hard for me to sit on the fence."

Amanda described her role on the show as akin to an auntie, remarking: "I would be the auntie and pop in and out. Try to be not judging, we all make mistakes, there are people who have made bad choices,".
The experience has also unexpectedly enriched her own marriage, as Amanda highlighted: "I was in awe of Paul's advice because it's so brilliant and succinct. You can listen to it all day."
In a light-hearted comment, she added: "So I was really nice to Chris when he came out to filming."
Addressing the core issue of the show, she clarified: "It (cheating) is a sensitive topic and I think it's a topic everyone can understand. It's about good people who have made bad choices."
Detailing the impact of unresolved feelings, she added: "Some of those people haven't had the answer for 10 years. So, it was amazing to be part of that process and to witness the truth coming out."

Dakota Johnson in 'incredible pain' after split with Coldplay star Chris Martin
The pair were in a relationship for 8 years. Hollywood star Dakota Johnson has been left feeling "incredible pain" following her split from long-term boyfriend and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. The Fifty Shades star, 35, who also starred in last year's Madame Web, was reportedly determined to make the relationship work but, after almost eight years together, the pair confirmed they've gone their split. They found their relationship, which began in 2017, stalled, a source said, reports the Mirror. Insiders claim the split has hit Dakota hard. A source told The Sun: "Dakota wanted this relationship to work. She not only loves Chris, but his two kids, and that loss feels incredibly painful. The decision to end things was amicable, but Dakota is finding it hard. Over the past year, it became clear that their relationship had stalled and wasn't moving forwards." Coldplay's huge world tour continues and Dakota has been away on shoots for future films including Materialists and Verity recently. It is believed their flourishing careers have drove a wedge between the pair. "Settling down, as in Chris properly taking his foot off the pedal, isn't going to happen. And, ultimately, it was one of the many straws that broke the back of them," the source continued. A sombre Dakota was last snapped in New York City on Wednesday - without her engagement ring - just hours before the split news broke. However, the couple were hit by split rumours in August last year, speculation sources close to them denied. But now that decision has been reached with an insider confirming the " relationship had been over for a long time". Speaking earlier this week, the insider added: "They just haven't been able to figure out to make it official. Dakota held a flame for them to be together because she loved him so much and loved his kids so much. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! "Breakups aren't instant and they continued to breakup and makeup and sometimes things would work when they were away from each other, while they were working because absence makes the heart grow fonder, but then they'd get back together and little things just kept adding up to where they weren't right for each other anymore... Dakota is devastated that she isn't going to be around his kids as much anymore, but wants them to know that she is always there for them." Chris, 48, shares those two children with actress Gwyneth Paltrow, whom he married in December 2003. They divorced in 2016, a split Gwyneth described as "conscious uncoupling". The Grammy Award nominee, 52, has since gone on to marry writer and producer Brad Falchuk, whom Gwyneth met on the set of Glee when she had a recurring guest role in the musical comedy-drama.

David Beckham to be awarded knighthood next week after years of snubs
David Beckham will become a Sir when he is awarded a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honours list next week with wife Victoria to be known as Lady Beckham. David Beckham is set to finally be awarded a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honours list next week after years of being snubbed from the list. The England and Manchester United star finally becomes a Sir after calls for years to see him given the honour. Beckham, who turned 50 back at the start of May, has been a British icon for years and had long been tipped to become another of football's Sirs. His wife Victoria will be known as Lady Beckham, reports the Mirror. Beckham, who played 115 times for England, has continued to make notable donations to charity. He has also struck up a firm friendship with King Charles. The monarch dropped a hint last month when Beckham greeted Charles and Queen Camilla at the Chelsea Flower Show. The now Inter Miami co-owner made his name in Manchester, rising through the ranks before becoming England captain. His goal that saw the Three Lions qualify for the World Cup in 2002 remains one of his greatest moments. His profile exceeded football and he went on to play for the likes of Real Madrid, AC Milan and LA Galaxy before calling time on his career. Beckham remains adored by the public and actions, like queueing to pay his respects to Queen Elizabeth, only saw the love for him increase. The 50-year-old had been kept waiting in his bid to earn a knighthood, after failing to add to the OBE award he was given back in 2003. Years ago shocking emails were leaked in 2017, which may have set him back in his goal to receive a knighthood. He is said to have claimed he "didn't care about being knighted" - though the ex-midfielder has claimed some of the leaked emails had been doctored. The leaked emails claim Beckham said: "I expected nothing less. It's a disgrace to be honest and if I was American I would of got something like this 10 years ago." A close friend of Beckham exclusively told The Mirror in 2017: "To be honest, he does feel that he has given so much to his country. And sometimes you say things in private that anyone would say and you don't really mean it. "While he was frustrated in those emails, he was over it the moment he sent them. Getting the knighthood is not what his work is about. He doesn't care if he gets a knighthood or not." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Beckham was appointment as an ambassador to HM's charity the King's Foundation, which was seen as an encouraging sign earlier last year, but his tax affairs had once been viewed as a possible barrier to becoming a Sir in the past before that was eventually ironed out. Beckham said at the time: 'I'm excited to be working with The King's Foundation and to have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the charity's work. I've always been keen to help young people to expand their horizons and I'm particularly looking forward to supporting the Foundation's education programmes and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature. 'Having developed a love for the countryside I'm also on a personal mission to learn more about rural skills which is so central to the Foundation's work. It was inspiring to hear from The King about the work of His Majesty's Foundation during my recent visit to Highgrove Gardens — and compare beekeeping tips.' In 2020 Golden Balls also teamed up with the Chelsea Pensioners as he backed The Sun's campaign to save the Poppy Appeal amid the devastating Covid lockdown. He will join an impressive list of sports stars who have been knighted, including Manchester icons Sir Alex Ferguson and the late Sir Bobby Charlton.

Sam Thompson opens up as sister praises bravery after 'horrendous break-up'
Hero Sam Thompson is expected to complete his UNICEF Soccer Aid challenge as he opens up to the Mirror about how much it means to him, as well an emotional Facetime with his sister Louise Dosed up on painkillers, his body falling apart and always close to tears, Sam Thompson 's 260-mile Soccer Aid challenge has been no plain sailing. The ex-Made in Chelsea star, 32, can barely walk – let alone run or cycle – after tearing his calf but is somehow expected to finish the five-day challenge today. Disaster struck just a few kilometers from the end of day one's marathon when Sam felt a pop in his calf. He says: 'It was bad straight away. I couldn't walk or put barely any weight on it. I just burst into tears, as I thought how am I going to do the rest of this challenge? Letting people down just plays on my mind constantly.' The next day he had longer on the bike to give his calf time to heal. But, incredibly, now he is back on his feet again although it is painful to watch. He says: 'I'm really strapped up but I think it's getting worse. I'm mitigating with other bits of my body that are now starting to creak under the pressure. I've been running on my tiptoes but my ankles are now going which, in turn, leads to my knees going. I'm just trying not to think about it.' Seeing a man, whose TV persona is like an excitable puppy, in such pain as he hobbles off each morning has been tough – especially for sister Louise, 35. In an emotional Facetime call yesterday, she told him: 'You've been through a very tough six months regardless of training for this challenge, you've obviously been through this horrendous break-up and to throw yourself into something that is helping so many other people is just incredible.' Sam split from Love Island star Zara McDermott after five years but is focused on raising money for Unicef and has smashed the £1million mark. He admits: 'It's definitely been a year of change but having said that I am absolutely honoured to do something I've never done before and throw myself into this… and it's been a pleasure to be able to do this and hopefully it's onwards and upwards for the rest of the year, if we get to the end.' Sam faced spells of torrential rain on an extended bike ride on day two, as well as his inner demons. He has been very open about his mental health, including a late autism diagnosis. But a succ-ession of famous friends have lifted his spirits on the journey from Chelsea's Stamford Bridge to Manchester Utd's Old Trafford to deliver a match ball ahead of the Soccer Aid game next Sunday. TV hosts Josie Gibson, Chris Hughes and Jamie Laing have supported him during the dark times. But his reunion and pep-talk with best mate Pete Wicks is especially spurring him on. He says: 'I'm so blown away by people's generosity. 'It's all going to Unicef's work for kids around the world. I've seen it firsthand and know the difference it will make.' Setting off yesterday on day four from Vale Park, Stoke-on-Trent, Sam was expected to cover 57 miles, passing through Sandbach, Middlewich, Ellesmere Port, The Wirral, and Birkenhead before heading to Goodison Park in Liverpool. He will have the advice of running Olympic legend Sir Mo Farah uppermost in his mind. Mo told him ahead of the challenge: 'Just put one foot in front of the other, and always believe in why you are doing it.'
