
A Normal Day and Al Naqa team up for a Ramadan supper club
A Normal Day and Al Naqa's Ramadan supper club will be available on 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 March. This collaboration is the first of its kind for A Normal Day, with Chef Illia Andriushyn joining forces with Chef AJ of Al Naqa Lao Kebab House.
Chef AJ explains: 'Our brands align naturally. We share the same creative ideals, and this felt like the perfect opportunity to bring something fresh to the table.' Chef Illia adds: 'AJ's food is some of the best I've had in Dubai. This is about two chefs doing what they love, pushing each other creatively, and making something special for Ramadan.'

While the menu has not yet been unveiled, guests can expect a sharing-style feast, which echoes the spirit of Ramadan. The dishes will showcase bold flavours and a playful presentation.
A Normal Day and Al Naqa's Ramadan Supper Club will be limited to 37 seats. The experience aims to be intimate and interactive and gives guests the chance to connect over food.
A Normal Day is an elevated breakfast spot, redefining the morning dining experience with comfort and creativity in Dubai's Dar Al Wasl Mall. Beyond breakfast, the venue transforms into a creative hub at night, where its test kitchen hosts exclusive tasting events and chef collaborations.
Al Naqa Lao Kebab House, located in Motor City's Neighbourhood Food Hall, brings the rich flavours of Lao cuisine to the Dubai dining scene. Founded by Chef Aphisith Phongsavanh, known as AJ, the restaurant pays homage to his Laotian heritage while introducing innovative twists to traditional dishes.
Ramadan 2025 is expected to begin on 1 March, based on moon predictions. During this time, adjustments are made across the GCC, with both public and private sectors reducing working hours. Muslims fast from dawn till dusk for 29 days, following the lunar moon sighting.

So you're the content manager for a mall in Dubai and you want to use Bob Marley's Jammin' as the music for your social media soundtrack? Go ahead. That'll get you into trouble quicker than admitting you shot the sheriff. And in the mall itself. That lovely, slow and familiar love song in the zone around the high-ticket jewelry stores or the quick-tempo current chart -topper in the supermarket? You're making every customer within earshot an accessory to a crime. Even in Dubai, that's too high a price to pay for some retail therapy. And when you get caught? The first thing you'll be told when you protest is 'ignorance of the law is no excuse'. Ignorance, in this case, may be that you trusted Instagram, Canva or CapCut, because they showed it as an option. The second thing you'll be told when you argue that '…surely it's okay, everyone else does it' will be 'oh we'll get to everyone else, don't you worry'. We speak about license infringement in malls, but they're just the tip of the iceberg. Last year, 14 NBA franchises were sued for copyright infringement because of the music they neglected to pay for in their promotional videos. That's half of the entire NBA playing dodgeball, not basketball! We can debate the merits of copyright law all day, but the fact remains that published music cannot be used for any commercial promotion without cost. If you have a personal profile on a social media platform, that's okay. Alright, now we've all had a light slap on the wrist, what's the answer? First, remove the ignorance factor. It's not going to cost you anything to explore your options in terms of catalogued music that's available. Spek, Founder & CEO at PopArabia commented, 'If you are a corporate entity or business page on social media you require music licenses to use commercial music from the library available. Social media pages are not exempt from music licensing requirements. Companies in MENA should be aware.' Secondly, put a call into a sonic branding company. They'll sit down with you to discuss solutions that are scalable up or down, with either licensed or original music. Thirdly, don't go looking to AI for the creation of music, particularly if you think your budget is too low for human creativity. It may produce something you think is great, but it won't be original and therefore will never bond with whatever currently represents the brand. Lastly, start thinking about music as an immersive brand experience, not just a prop to help make a quick sale. Because despite its name, sonic branding is not really about sound at all. Sound is a tool to help you achieve better brand engagement. The term brand refers not to a product (or service), but the relationship a human being has with that product. A relationship whose interaction puts an individual human being into a state of grace, borne of trust and satisfaction. Sonic branding, therefore, is about how you feel about a product, service or event. When you brief a sonic branding company and you ask for specific, culturally relevant musical instruments, for example, you should expect more than just nods of acquiescence from the company. In response, you should expect a deep dive into why these specific instruments resonate, and how they contribute to mood. Or at the very least, they should respond with enlightenment from previous experiences about why those instruments are right. Or wrong. That doesn't just put sonic branding on a par with visual branding, it puts it ahead on levels we're only just beginning to comprehend. Please think carefully about the beautiful or dynamic music you use to attract customers. Is it legal? Is it moral? And does it ignore the opportunity to take your brand engagement to a new level? Abu Dhabi hospitality soars as UAE bucks trend with strong Q1 growth
27 July 2025 23:14 MAYS IBRAHIM (ABU DHABI)The UAE's hospitality market kicked off 2025 with strong growth across key performance indicators (KPIs), defying traditional seasonal patterns, according to JLL's UAE Hospitality Market Dynamics for Q1 2025. Abu Dhabi led the upswing, posting exceptional gains despite the Ramadan season being a traditionally slow UAE capital recorded a substantial 28.1% year-on-year increase in Average Daily Rate (ADR) for the year to date through March upward trend in rates propelled a 26.7% increase in Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR), even as occupancy slightly decreased by 1.0 percentage point during the same on this momentum, JLL anticipates a potential surge in new project launches across the emirate.'The substantial increase in KPIs has enhanced the emirate's commercial appeal to a broader spectrum of developers,' the report stated. 'These improved rates now justify and support new hotel developments, effectively transforming Abu Dhabi into a more attractive market for hospitality investments.'Hotel stock in Abu Dhabi remained stable at 33,100 keys in Q1, with no new completions. However, around 600 new keys are set to be delivered by year-end, and a total of 1,500 keys are expected to be added over the next three travel is expected to be a key revenue driver for the hospitality sector, with luxury operators likely to command an advantage over others through high-end food and beverage offerings. Other properties will continue to lean on their banqueting facilities and in-house guest spending to maintain profitability. Dubai also recorded solid gains in the opening quarter of 2025. The emirate welcomed 5.31 million overnight visitors, marking a 2.5% increase from the same period last year. ADR improved by 2.2%, while the average occupancy rate increased by 1.3 percentage points, pushing RevPAR up by 3.6%. Dubai's hospitality stock expanded to approximately 158,000 keys, with the delivery of approximately 1,800 keys in the first quarter. A further 4,700 keys, comprising of four- and five-star properties, are expected by the end of the year and an additional 4,600 keys are slated for delivery in the following two years.
