Duffy reacts to being crowned No.1 ICC Men's T20I Bowler
New Zealand quick Jacob Duffy was rewarded for his recent heroics in the series against Pakistan as he reigned supreme in the latest ICC Men's T20I Bowling Rankings.

Opening up on his achievement, Duffy told New Zealand Cricket, 'It's a bit of a surprise. It's awesome to be amongst some of the players on that list. Getting that kind of recognition is pretty cool.
'I honestly don't know what to say. I have had a lot of messages today around that kind of thing. It's a little bit surreal, to be honest."
Duffy became the first New Zealand player to to hold the premier bowling ranking in men's T20I cricket since Ish Sodhi in 2018.
The 30-year-old rose to four spots in the latest rankings to leap past Wanindu Hasaranga, Adil Rashid, Varun Chakravarthy and Akeil Hosein, who held the top spot previously.
In the absence of first-team regulars such as Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson, Duffy has emerged as a dependable pace outlet for New Zealand. In the recent T20I series against Pakistan, he bagged an impressive 13 wickets from his five outings at an average of 8.38 as New Zealand emerged victorious 4-1.
Duffy is also currently the joint-highest wicket-taker in the ODI series against Pakistan, with five dismissals from the two matches so far.
'It's been amazing, just to be in and around the group for the last three or four years, sort of getting a game here and there, but to really get stuck in and play consistent games, get whole series, it's been awesome," he added.
'I just want to be a regular member of the Black Caps across all three formats and win games of cricket for the country.'
Having gained an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, New Zealand will lock horns in the third and last ODI on Saturday, 5 April in Mount Maunganui. News Jacob Duffy 08/02/1994 Men's Rankings

Stead stands down as New Zealand coach after seven years
Gary Stead will stand down as Black Caps coach at the end of June, New Zealand Cricket said on Wednesday, bringing to an end a highly successful seven-year reign that included the capture of the inaugural World Test Championship title. The 53-year-old stood down as coach of the country's white ball teams in April and his desire to spend less time on tour ultimately did not marry with NZC's aspiration to have one coach across all formats. "There's been some amazing memories over the past seven years based around a group of fantastic and talented people who have gone out to give their best for their country," he said in a NZC statement. "It's been nice to be competitive across all three formats and I'd like to think that regardless of results, the opposition know the Black Caps are a team that won't fold." Stead said the World Test Championship triumph in 2021 and New Zealand's 3-0 sweep of India on the sub-continent last year were the highlights of his time in charge. New Zealand also finished as runners-up on boundary countback at the 2019 50-overs World Cup, runners-up at the 2021 Twenty20 World Cup as well as at the Champions Trophy earlier this year. The Black Caps topped the test and ODI rankings and reached the semi-finals at two other white-ball World Cups during his time in charge. "For a country with five million people and limited resources, we comparatively perform outstandingly well against the other powerhouses of the game," Stead added. Producing consistent performances over such a lengthy period rested in some part on Stead's ability to refresh the squad with young players as generational talents retired or spent lengthy periods on the sidelines with injury. Former Black Caps captain Kane Williamson said Stead is likely to be remembered as one of New Zealand's most successful cricket coaches. "There was no one more hardworking and passionate about seeing the Black Caps grow and succeed," he said. "He was always thorough in his planning and preparation and will go down as one of our best coaches, but an even better bloke." NZC have already started the search for the successor to the former top-order test batsman and Stead said he would take some time to recharge before seeking out another challenge. "I still have the coaching bug and will look to explore opportunities at home and abroad where I can look to share what I've learned from my 30 years of professional sport as a player and coach," he said.

Maharaj lauds Proteas' driven youngsters for Test revival
Keshav Maharaj has been a key member in South Africa's journey to The World Test Championship final that began with three losses out of the four Tests in this cycle of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC). The Proteas saw through the transition phase with new young players coming in, went on to top the WTC points table and will now take on Australia in the Final at Lord's from 11 June. Only three players in South Africa's World Test Championship final squad have experience of playing 50 Tests or more and Maharaj is one of them. Speaking on the role of a senior ahead of the Ultimate Test, Maharaj felt the core of four-five experienced players have always tried to be a shoulder for them. "Since the time the transition came, when the Test side started its journey, we've always been the support and tried to be there to support them both on and off the field. "In terms of this week coming (ahead of the big final), just to settle the nerves, make sure everyone's nice and calm and focused on what we have, the task at hand." Maharaj added that the support was a two-way factor since the young energy augurs well with the brand of cricket that the Proteas aim to play and helped the team transition nicely. "I think they've also been a support for us, bring that sort of new energy, that sort of exuberance of youth. "The exuberance of youth, it filters into the way we play our brand of cricket and probably the reason why we're here today, building up towards the WTC final." The other senior, captain Temba Bavuma, along with coach Shukri Conrad, have kept the boys motivated ahead of the big final with different styles of leadership, reckons Maharaj. "Temba is a good motivator, he reads the game really well and is a brilliant leader on the field," Maharaj added. "But with regards to Shukri, I think he gives you clarity. "He's open and honest, and I think he just allows you to have the freedom to express yourself, be yourself, and just show everyone what you're capable of." Maharaj also felt the experience from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 final will help the team draw the confidence to stand up in big moments.
