Delhi CM takes stock of Kanwar campsites
'Kanwar yatra is a festival, so welcoming the kanwariyas coming to Delhi and passing through Delhi is a respect for their faith....we hope that the kanwariyas will be facilitated by our preparations and they will be able to reach their destination safely. We are committed to provide all possible assistance to the pilgrims on behalf of Delhi government,' CM Gupta said at the visit, where she met kanwariyas along with the officials of the camp committees and reviewed the preparations.
Explaining that jute bags are an eco-friendly choice by the government, she said, 'This is a big step, through which we can make Delhi clean and beautiful. The distribution will start Monday....We have received a suggestion that the assistance amount for the kanwar committees should be increased, which we will do.'
'This time the Delhi government has made extensive preparations to welcome kanwariyas. We have given grants to 374 kanwar committees and have made arrangements for electricity, health services, toilets, cleaning staff etc. in every camp,' she added.

‘Panchmukhi shivling' found during excavation in UP's Badaun draws crowd, police deployed at site
A 'panchmukhi shivling' was found during the excavation of a pond in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun. The pond is located in Sarai Piparia village in Dataganj tehsil, reports said on Tuesday. The five-faced shivling, made of marble, was unearthed from about six feet below the surface by a bulldozer. The archaeological department will be called to assess the history and the age of the shivling, Dataganj Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dharmendra Kumar Singh said. However, Mahant Parmatma Das Maharaj of Papad Brahmadev Mandir claimed that the shivling was about three centuries old. Environmentalist Shipra Pathak, who was present during the excavation, said that the digging was being conducted for building a lotus pond on her 13-acre land. Pathak, who was also associated with Narmada Bachao Abhiyan, said that the discovery of the shivling was a 'divine sign'. 'One doesn't need blind faith for miracles — true faith brings miracles naturally,' Pathak said. A plant nursery – Panch Tatva Paudhshala – is also under construction on the land. Pathak plans to distribute five lakh plants every year through her foundation. 'Now that Lord Mahadev has manifested here, a grand and divine temple will be constructed at the site,' the environmentalist said. Meanwhile, the Kanwar Yatra is underway, with chief minister Yogi Adityanath reviewing the preparations for the annual pilgrimage undertaken by devotees. The Uttar Pradesh chief minister also visited the Dudheshwar Nath temple in Ghaziabad and formally inaugurated the Shravan Kanwar Mela. He assessed preparations for the influx of Kanwariyas and asked for detailed updates on the arrangements, district magistrate Deepak Meena said. The CM also warned against any attempt to disrupt the Yatra. Adityanath said that it was the 'responsibility" of Kanwar sangh and Shiv devotees to 'expose such elements' and to inform the authorities if such incidents do occur.

Kanwar panels to get Rs 1 lakh extra grant-in-aid
NEW DELHI: To ensure financial help to registered kanwar service committees or kanwar camps, the Delhi government has decided to provide an additional grant-in-aid of Rs 1 lakh each. There are 374 kanwar service committees across the city. The minimum grant will be Rs 1.5 lakh, while the maximum grant will be Rs 11 lakh. This comes after a day CM Rekha Gupta, reviewed the arrangements in Kanwar camps at Punjabi Bagh (Ashok Park), Tagore Garden, and Subroto Park. Besides, the government has also started distribution of containers filled with Ganga water and jute bags to the Kanwariyas to promote environmental protection. The government has announced providing grant-in-aid through the direct benefit transfer mechanism, which has been taken to remove the old tender-based process and enhance transparency and efficiency. Only registered committees with valid PAN, bank details, and registration certificates will be eligible for the grant.
