PM: Federal govt to empower JS-SEZ
He said establishing the JS-SEZ will accelerate state investment flows and forge strong synergy in industrial development, workforce, and technology between the two countries.

"With Singapore's Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, we discussed it during a Cabinet meeting and brought nearly half of the Cabinet down to Johor, something that has never happened before," he said in his speech at the 2025 National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang launching ceremony at Dataran Tanjung Emas here today.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said the JS-SEZ has already begun to show encouraging results by attracting investments worth billions of ringgit in strategic sectors.
He said Malaysia cannot afford to fall behind in regional investment competition and must leverage Johor's strategic position, especially as it borders a developed country like Singapore.
Anwar also expressed his appreciation to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who is also the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim, for His Majesty's support in elevating Johor's potential as a key driver of the national economy.
Johor recorded RM30.1 billion worth of approved investments in the first quarter of 2025, the highest in Malaysia.
In January, Singapore and Malaysia signed the JS-SEZ agreement during the 11th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders' Retreat to enhance economic cooperation and attract investment.
The JS-SEZ is a mega development project involving the Iskandar Development Region, Desaru, Johor Baru, Iskandar Puteri, Tanjung Pelepas, Tanjung Bin, Pasir Gudang, Senai, Skudai, and Sedenak.
The economic zone aims to attract 100 projects over a decade, among other goals.

The updated tariff structure includes: • Domestic (Residential): Minimum charge of RM9.40, with rates ranging from RM0.94/m³ for 0-20 cubic metres to RM2.26/m³ for usage exceeding 35 cubic metres. • Domestic (Residential Bulk Meter): A flat rate of RM2.22/m³ with a minimum charge of RM25. • Business/Industry/Government: Rates start at RM2.66/m³ for 0-35 cubic metres, increasing to RM2.72/m³ beyond that threshold, with a minimum charge of RM26.60. • Places of Worship/Charitable Institutions: Fixed at RM1.01/m³ with a minimum charge of RM10.10. • Shipping: A steep rate of RM8.02/m³ with an RM80.20 minimum charge. • Data Centres: Charged RM5.32/m³, with a minimum fee of RM53.20. SAMB emphasised that the revised tariffs will fund critical infrastructure projects, including the expansion of the Jus and Jernih Water Treatment Plants, pipeline upgrades across Melaka, and improved sludge waste management. KLANG: Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, graced the Platform Selangor (PLATS) Awards Night (MAPS) to recognise the achievements of local entrepreneurs. The event highlighted the success of participants in the U-PLATS Digital and U-PLATS Halal programmes. Accompanied by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and other dignitaries, Tengku Amir Shah presented awards to 22 entrepreneurs. The U-PLATS Digital awards included categories such as Main Micro Entrepreneur, Special Category Awards (Community, Youth, Revolution, Technology, Innovation, and Women), and best micro entrepreneur at the local authority level. Meanwhile, the U-PLATS Halal awards recognised participants who obtained the Malaysian Halal Confirmation Certificate.
