Visakhapatnam: Demanding essential commodities be supplied through public distribution system vehicles and MDU vehicle drivers be provided employment, a rally was carried out under the aegis of the MDU Drivers, Helpers Association here on Sunday.
Starting from Gandhi statue at GVMC office, the rally continued till the LIC Building. Expressing solidarity with the association representatives, YSRCP Visakhapatnam district president KK Raju, former MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar, Visakhapatnam east constituency in-charge Molli Apparao and senior leaders participated in the rally taken out as a protest against the state government's decision.
Speaking on the occasion, KK Raju said that in the past, people used to stand in long queues for hours at ration depots across the state and faced difficulties in getting their ration home. 'However, the exercise was eased when the YSRCP government came to power as the then Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy introduced a new system with an intention of providing ration to the beneficiaries at their doorstep, Raju recalled.
Further, KK Raju pointed out that the NDA government had cancelled the system when the other state governments were coming forward to implement it. He alleged that the system was cancelled due to political conspiracy as Jagan Mohan Reddy earned fame due to its implementation.
Former MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar pointed out that by cancelling the system, 20,000 Mobile Dispensing Unit operators' families and 1.5 crore beneficiaries across the state would get affected every month.
Therefore, YSR Congress Party strongly condemned the cancellation of the GO and demanded to resume the old system for the benefit of the MDU operators and scores of beneficiaries in the state.
The YSRCP leaders alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is indulging in diversion politics and is more focused on cancelling the best systems introduced by Jagan Mohan Reddy.
They pointed out that the NDA government made several impractical promises and is now unable to fulfill any of them. 'The government came to power by assuring implementation of 'Super Six'. However, it failed in doing so and is now indulging in diversion tactics.' the YSRCP leaders commented.

Minister inaugurates police sub-division office in Dhone

Dhone: Minister for Roads & Buildings, Investments, and Infrastructure BC Janardhan Reddy inaugurated the newly constructed Police Sub-Division Office in Dhone on Saturday. The office, built at a cost of Rs.25 lakh, was formally opened in the presence of local MLA Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy and senior police officials. The inauguration ceremony witnessed the participation of key dignitaries including AP Seeds Corporation Chairman Dharmavaram Subbareddy, former MLA Kotla Sujathamma, Rayalaseema Range DIG Dr Koya Praveen, Nandyal SP Adhiraj Singh Rana, Dhone RDO Narasimhulu, and Dhone DSP Srinivasulu. Following the inauguration, Minister Janardhan Reddy held a press meet at the R&B Guest House, where he spoke alongside senior police officers. He stated, 'It is encouraging to see the new police sub-division office being established through CSR funds. The police department is one of great dedication, protecting citizens day and night, often at the cost of their personal well-being. This is truly commendable.' He emphasized that under the current NDA government, the police department has undergone revolutionary reforms, including the deployment of drones to handle public gatherings, monitor traffic, and manage law and order situations. Drones, he said, have also been effective in identifying suspects in narrow streets and remote areas. He reiterated his commitment to supporting law enforcement, noting that his contribution of Rs.5.50 lakh for the drone was part of a larger effort to improve policing infrastructure. Criticizing the previous YSRCP regime, he said, 'The police force was misused for political vendettas in the past. Today, they function independently and with integrity. The public has regained trust in the police system.' He also credited Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his role in eliminating factionalism from the Rayalaseema region. 'It was through decisive governance and police cooperation that peace was restored. Former factionists now lead peaceful, prosperous lives thanks to those strong measures,' he said. He also said, 'after one year under the NDA coalition, the police have successfully restored peace in villages. We are proud of the work being done to ensure law and order, free from political bias.'

"Women are excelling, inspiring people in all sectors": PM Modi highlights Govt's achievements in women-led development

New Delhi [India], June 8 (ANI): Highlighting the NDA government's efforts to redefine women-led development in the last 11 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that various government initiatives are intended to empower the country's 'Nari Shakti.' In a post on X, PM Modi said that women are excelling and inspiring several people in all sectors, including science, education, sports, StartUps and the armed forces. 'Over the last 11 years, the NDA Government has redefined women-led development. Various initiatives, from ensuring dignity through Swachh Bharat to financial inclusion via Jan Dhan accounts, the focus has been on empowering our Nari Shakti,' PM Modi said. 'In all sectors, including science, education, sports, StartUps and the armed forces, women are excelling and inspiring several people,' the Prime Minister said. PM Modi highlighted the key schemes launched by his government, such as Ujjwala Yojana and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme. 'Ujjwala Yojana brought smoke-free kitchens to several homes. MUDRA loans enabled lakhs of women entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams on their own terms. Houses under the women's name in the PM Awas Yojana too have made a remarkable impact. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao ignited a national movement to protect the girl child,' he said. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi has underlined the far-reaching impact of the government's pro-farmer initiatives over the past 11 years, marking a significant phase of dignity and prosperity for the agricultural community. He highlighted key initiatives such as the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and Kisan Fasal Bima, describing them as important steps taken by the government for the welfare of farmers. The Prime Minister also noted that due to the continuous increase in Minimum Support Price (MSP), the country's food producers are not only receiving fair prices for their crops but are also experiencing a rise in their income. PM Modi emphasised that it has been a privilege for his government to serve the hardworking farmers of the country. Reflecting on the last 11 years, he said that the government's various initiatives have not only enhanced prosperity among farmers but have also contributed to an overall transformation of the agriculture sector. The Prime Minister highlighted that the government has paid close attention to key aspects such as soil health and irrigation, which have been greatly beneficial. PM Modi further stated that our efforts towards farmer welfare will continue with greater vigour in the times to come. He said that we have worked on dignity and prosperity for our farmers. 'Earlier, our farmer brothers and sisters were forced to borrow money even for small needs, but in the last 11 years, our government's decisions have made their lives much easier. Be it PM Kisan Samman Nidhi or Kisan Fasal Bima, we have taken many important steps for their welfare. Now, with the continuous increase in MSP, the country's food producers are not only getting a fair price for their crops, but their income is also increasing,' said PM in a post on X in Hindi. On May 26, 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister for the first time. (ANI)
