Yes, New York now has a tomato ketchup smoothie to try

Time Out14 hours ago
If someone were to ask, 'Is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable?', you may get differing answers depending on the company. Commonly classified as veg, the savory red plant is, in fact, a fruit, or really a berry, as the fruit grows from the flower of a plant and has a chamber of seeds inside. That being said, NFL player George Kittle dropped a further dilemma on us, positing on X: 'If tomatoes are a fruit, is ketchup a smoothie?' Now his musings have come to fruition, as one iconic condiment brand is bringing the ketchup smoothie to life.
Just in time for the peak of the tomato season, HEINZ has debuted The HEINZ Tomato Ketchup Smoothie. Starting today, August 6, select Smoothie King locations around the country, including Atlanta, Chicago, Denver and right here in the city, are blending up the ripened red smoothie for a limited time. More than just a squirt of the stuff in a Styrofoam cup, the smoothie comes with a blend of açaí sorbet, apple juice, strawberries and raspberries for a sweet and tangy sip.
'After months of meticulous R&D, testing, and tasting, we landed on a savory-sweet blend that celebrates the tomato in all its glory,' said Lori Primavera, vice president of R&D and product marketing at Smoothie King, in a press release.
Of course, this isn't the first time the smoothie franchise has blended up something special. Last year, the brand partnered with Dude Perfect, a group of influencers whose content of comedy and trick-shots has racked up 61.4 million subscribers on YouTube. The group of five—Cory and Coby Cotton, Garrett Hilbert, Cody Jones and Tyler Toney—created a protein-based drink, aptly named Dude Perfect, that included a combo of pineapples, bananas, kiwi-apple juice, vanilla frozen yogurt, turbinado and blue spirulina for color.
It begs to reason: will the Smoothie King follow in the footsteps of upscale L.A. grocer, Erewhon, and tap celebrities like Hailey Bieber and Olivia Rodrigo for its prohibitively expensive smoothies? It's hard to say. But if you are ready for a 'tomato girl summer' now, head to your nearest Smoothie King to try the berry-like concoction and join the discourse by using the hashtag #KetchupSmoothie.

MrBeast's wildest videos amid ‘real-life Hunger Games' idea

MrBeast has floated the idea of doing a 'real life' version of Hunger Games - without the killing, of course. The YouTube megastar is known for his extremely wild stunts in his videos. He shot to mainstream success after he released his $426,000 Squid Game in Real Life back in November 2021. Costing a reported $3m to make, the video has passed 800 million views on YouTube as of August 2025. But MrBeast might not yet be done with remakes of dystopian death games. In an appearance on The Today Show over in the US, he was asked about his idea for a real life version of the Hunger Games. Jennifer Lawrence starred in the movie adaptations in the 2010s, while another prequel film is due to arrive in 2026: Sunrise on the Reaping. The books and films feature teenagers forced to compete in brutal death matches, for the entertainment of the rich in the capitol. MrBeast told Today Show his version would 'not use real weapons' and involve dropping 26 people on an island, with the last one standing winning $1m. He pitched using 'laser tag' instead of actually killing the contestants, like in the original novels. It comes after his own reality show Beast Games came to an end earlier this year and crowned its first winner. Find out more about that here. Now he is talking about doing his own version of Hunger Games, I thought I would take a look at some of MrBeast's wildest and most extreme video ideas so far. Are your kids fans of MrBeast and his YouTube channel? Let me know what you think of his videos by email: . He got real people to compete in a non-lethal version of the Netflix hit. It featured games like Red Light, Green Light, Dalgona and musical chairs. |for Netflix Photo:for Netflix Photo Sales 2 . I Built Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory MrBeast, who now is a chocolate-maker of his own with his Feastibles brand, has in the past recreated Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory in real-life. 10 players had the chance to walk away with the factory at the end of the video, as was the prize in the original book/ film. |for Netflix Photo:for Netflix Photo Sales 3 . I Paid A Real Assassin To Try To Kill Me For $100,000 Have you ever imagined what it would be like to be hunted by a real-life assassin? Well, MrBeast has had that experience. A 'real assassin' had a day to try and stab the YouTube star with a rubber knife to win $100,000. |Photo:Photo Sales 4 . Survive 100 Days Trapped In A Private Jet, Keep It One of the more recent efforts from MrBeast, this video came out in mid-July. He tasked a pilot with staying in a luxurious private jet for 100 days, with the carrot that if he accomplished it, he would get to keep the jet. Not sure I would be able to manage that. | Alberto E. Soccer AM making huge return - but not as we know it

Soccer AM is making a huge return - but not in its original form. The hit show was a staple on Sky Sports and aired from August 1994 for nearly two decades until it ended in May 2023. It has now been announced that Tim Lovejoy and the original Soccer AM crew will be back together - and the new show will kick off from Saturday 9 August. The new show will be called Soccer Amen and will be a twice-weekly offering. Joining Tim will be Robbie Knox, Tubes and Sheephead for the special podcast, which will be recorded at Tower Bridge Studios and released on both YouTube and all other major podcast platforms. Speaking about the new show - which blurs the lines between a podcast and a TV show - Tim said: "We're not here to break down formations. This is about the world football fans actually live in, the songs, the shirts, the matchday experience, and the big moments. We're here to celebrate the world that lives around football. The stuff we actually talk about in pubs and WhatsApp groups. "When we first started this project we wanted to make a show on TV, but realised it would not get commissioned. So we decided to make it ourselves. The landscape's changed so much in recent years, and we can now broadcast our own show. This is new TV." The new series will be aired twice weekly and there will a mix of football chat, hilarious features, celebrity guests, interactive fan contributions, head to head quizzes and much more.
