Biden's Floating Pier Debacle In Gaza Was Even Worse Than We Thought; IG Report

Gulf Insider08-05-2025
Joe Biden's floating aid pier in Gaza, which was only operational for 20 days in the summer of 2024, was a much bigger failure than initially reported, according to new Pentagon Inspector General report.
The ill-fated pier system, dubbed 'Operation Neptune Solace' and operated by an Army and Navy outfit known as Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore (JLOTS), took about 1,000 U.S. forces to execute at a cost of $230 million.
More than 60 service members were injured and one died during non-combat duties on the mission, according to the Pentagon IG, although the manner of the injuries was not clear.
'Based on the information provided, we were not able to determine which of these 62 injuries occurred during the performance of duties or resulted off duty or from pre-existing medical conditions,' the report said.
Army Sgt. Quandarius Stanley was 'critically injured in May when high winds and heavy seas damaged the pier, causing four Army vessels to become beached,' The Air Force Times reported. Stanley died from the injuries he sustained months later.
The Navy reported damage to 27 boats and (Improved Navy Lighterage System) INLS equipment totaling about $31 million, according to the Times.
The Army's damage assessment is redacted.
Plagued by bad weather, the 1,200-foot-long floating pier reportedly had to be removed multiple times due to high winds and sea.
The Pentagon IG found that mission planners failed to identify such environmental factors, and that Army and Navy equipment malfunctioned because it was 'not interoperable.'
Lack of training and resources also reportedly hindered the operation's success.
The Inspector General said that the U.S. military under Biden failed to 'organize, train, and equip their forces to meet common joint standards.'
The pier debacle became a major embarrassment to the Biden administration, with congressional Republicans branding it a political stunt to placate the Democrats' pro-Hamas base during an election year.

Farage: Britain Is Facing Complete "Societal Collapse"

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has warned that unless change is instituted rapidly, Britain will soon succumb to complete societal collapse. 'We live increasingly in a lawless Britain… most people think that Britain has become lawless', Farage remarked Monday at a press conference to launch a new law and order policy platform. 'We're actually facing, in many parts of our country, nothing short of societal collapse,' Farage warned, adding 'People are scared to go out to the shops, scared to let their kids out. That is a society that is degraded, and it's happening very, very rapidly.' Farage further suggested that Britain should leave the European Court of Human Rights in order to restore effective criminal deterrence. Farage maintains that the ECHR undermines the country's ability to deport foreign criminals, terrorists, and illegal migrants, thereby weakening criminal deterrence. He contends that exiting the system would remove legal barriers imposed by foreign judges, and allow the UK to swiftly remove dangerous individuals, free up prison space, reduce taxpayer burdens, and send a strong message that crime by non-citizens will result in certain expulsion. This, in his view, would restore effective deterrence by ensuring consequences are enforced without interference, discouraging both criminal activity and illegal immigration. Among a range of policies he outlined to avoid a descent into societal collapse, Farage suggested outsourcing hardened criminals to foreign jails and a hard-line three-strikes and you're out rule, meaning after three convictions there would be no more rehabilitation for offenders. He noted that one of the most egregious aspects of the collapse is that the government is obsessed with drilling it into the British people that everything is getting better when citizens can see the rampant degradation all around them. 'Huge numbers of law-abiding, taxpaying Britons have also lost respect for the police but in a different way. The idea, the concept that we're living in a system of two-tier policing and two-tier justice under two-tier Keir has really taken hold,' Farage urged. 🚨 NEW: Farage lays out zero tolerance law & order blitz:– Every shoplifting offence prosecuted– Stolen phones traced, doors knocked– Stop & search until knives are off our streets– Knife arches at stations? Absolutely– Fast-track arrests with pop-up custody centres–… — Darren Grimes (@darrengrimes_) July 21, 2025 Farage noted that crimes such as shoplifting and drug taking have been allowed to become a part of everyday life in cities, and that one in three Londoners have now been victims of mobile phone theft. He vowed that his party will work to halve crime in five years if elected to parliament by becoming 'the toughest party on law and order and on crime that this country has ever seen', and instituting 'zero tolerance policing.' Farage also floated the idea of Army run centres for repeat petty criminals to be held in and made to undergo a program of reform. He pointed to Rudy Giuliani's tenure as Mayor of New York City as an example of how to restore law and order in a broken down society. 'We are borrowing from the Giuliani playbook, unashamedly, I think what Rudy Giuliani did to New York in the 1990s was nothing short of a blooming miracle,' Farage stated. He added, 'And as someone who spent over 20 years working for American companies, I was a regular transatlantic commuter, and I saw what one inspired, brave leader with a New York Police Department that wanted to work with him… I saw what could happen, what the potential was. I believe London needs a Giuliani, not a Sadiq Khan.' Farage's full comments are below: Farage's comments come after accusations from major retailers that police have effectively stopped treating shoplifting as crime. They will however, thoroughly investigate spicy social media posts that leftists find offensive. As we've recently highlighted, inner cities in Britain have descended into complete lawless hellholes. It's so bad even normies are noticing the steep decline into the abyss.

DHS Says 233,000 Unaccompanied Children Were Lost During Biden Presidency

More than 230,000 unaccompanied minors were released from immigration custody into the U.S. during the Biden administration and subsequently became unaccounted for, according to the Department of Homeland Security. DHS Inspector General Joseph Cuffari testified in front of the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday. He said 31,000 children were sent to invalid home addresses in the U.S. and that sponsors were not properly vetted before the unaccompanied children were released to them. The Oversight panel was called to review the findings of a March 2025 report by DHS that found that Immigration and Customs Enforcement is unable to track the status of all unaccompanied minors currently in the U.S. The report's findings 'reveal significant gaps' in ICE's management of these children, Cuffari testified. 'This is not simply an administrative problem,' Cuffari said. 'It's a systemic breakdown that poses grave risks to unaccompanied alien children (UACs) and the integrity of our legal immigration system.' DHS's report found that more than 43,000 of these children failed to appear for court hearings and can no longer be tracked by ICE. The report said these children are 'considered at higher risk for trafficking, exploitation or forced labor.' 'The findings are a double-edged sword,' Subcommittee Chairman Rep. Clay Higgins, R-La., said during the hearing. 'While some vulnerable children have likely been trafficked, exploited and subject to forced labor, the report also found other older teens that were convicted criminals and gang members.' Cuffari testified that a team of special agents was set up by ICE in February to locate and carry out welfare and health checks on unaccompanied minors who have been lost by DHS and the Department of Health and Human Services. With assistance from the FBI and U.S. Marshals, the unit has visited 50,000 homes so far to locate 200,000 children, Cuffari said. Democrats on the panel pushed back against the Trump administration's 'reckless' immigration initiatives and argued that DHS has increasingly targeted children in its deportation efforts. 'Are these little kids the dangerous criminals Trump vowed to go after?' Subcommittee Ranking Member Rep. Summer Lee, D-Pa., said. The panel's meeting is the first in a series of hearings that will examine past shortcomings of DHS, determine how the U.S. immigration system can be reformed to locate and better monitor unaccompanied minors and establish how DHS and HHS can work together effectively on this issue.

Elon Musk Launches New 'America Party'

Elon Musk has announced the formation of a new political party in the United States, weeks after a high-profile and public break with President Donald Trump. Posting on his social media platform X, the billionaire tech mogul unveiled the 'America Party,' describing it as an alternative to the entrenched two-party system. 'By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!' Musk wrote, referencing an earlier user poll he conducted on the platform. 'Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.' Musk accused both Democrats and Republicans of contributing to national decline, stating: 'When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.' Despite the declaration, it remains unclear whether the America Party has been officially registered with the Federal Election Commission. Musk has also yet to announce leadership details, a party platform, or plans to field candidates. The move follows Musk's dramatic fallout with Trump, whom he once strongly supported. After backing the Republican leader's 2024 re-election bid with $250 million in campaign funding, Musk was appointed to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), tasked with identifying sweeping federal budget cuts. The relationship soured in May when Musk resigned from the role and publicly criticized Trump's economic policies—particularly a massive tax-and-spending bill recently signed into law. Musk argued that the legislation, which the president dubbed his 'big, beautiful bill,' would dangerously inflate the federal deficit. Estimates suggest the package could add more than $3 trillion to the national debt over the next decade. As of Saturday, no filings for the America Party had appeared on the FEC's public database. — Agencies Also Read: Kazakhstan Plans To Establish Bitcoin And Crypto Reserve
