SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Tyler Fitzgerald scored on a wild pitch by Pierce Johnson with two outs in the 10th inning and the San Francisco Giants beat the Atlanta Braves 5-4 on Friday night for their third straight win.
After getting picked off first to end the ninth, Fitzgerald began the 10th on second base. He advanced to third on a one-groundout and then scored when Johnson (1-2) threw a 1-2 pitch to the backstop, sending the Braves to their fifth straight loss.

Spencer Bivens (2-2) came on with the bases loaded in the 10th and got Luke Williams on a groundout to end the inning for the win.
Craig Kimbrel, the Braves' career leader in saves, made his first appearance for Atlanta since the 2014 season when he entered the game in the seventh. He allowed a leadoff single to Heliot Ramos, but got bailed out when Sean Murphy threw out Ramos trying to steal second to keep it tied at 4.
Kimbrel then walked Jung Hoo Lee, but picked him off first and then struck out Wilmer Flores to get out of the inning.
The Giants' struggling offense produced three runs in the first with help from two errors by Atlanta and a run-scoring wild pitch thrown by Spencer Schwellenbach.

San Francisco led 4-2 before the Braves tied it in the seventh when Matt Olson hit a two-run homer off reliever Ryan Walker.
Key moment
There was an odd moment in the fourth inning when Murphy hit a sacrifice fly to right with the bases loaded for Atlanta. Olson easily beat the throw by Mike Yastrzemski, but there was confusion because a ball had been thrown on the field by a fan in the stands. The umpires huddled to discuss it, but let the play stand.

Both teams played their 26th one-run game, tied for the most in the majors. The Giants improved to 14-12 in those games and the Braves fell to 9-17.

49ers WR problem highlighted in PFF list of best QB-pass catcher duos
The San Francisco 49ers have a potential problem lingering with their receiving corps, and it was underscored in a list of every team's top QB-WR/TE duos created by Pro Football Focus. San Francisco's duo features tight end George Kittle paired with quarterback Brock Purdy. They landed at No. 14 on the list. The 49ers are one of only three teams with a tight end listed alongside the QB, joining the Arizona Cardinals (No. 17) and the Las Vegas Raiders (No. 20). Advertisement It's not a great sign for the 49ers' passing game that they don't have a receiver worthy of making the list. Brandon Aiyuk's knee injury continues leaving a sizable question mark over his potential contributions in 2025. Last year's first-round pick Ricky Pearsall also dealt with injuries in training camp before a gunshot wound he sustained in a robbery attempt the week before the regular season sidelined him for the first six weeks. He had flashes last year, but he's still a largely unproven commodity. Jauan Jennings led the team's WRs last season with 975 yards, but he still profiles as more of a secondary pass-catching option than a primary one. If the 49ers are going to have a sustainable, championship-caliber passing attack, they're going to need to find more consistent, legitimate production from their receiving corps. Advertisement On the other hand, part of the reason Kittle is listed with Purdy instead of any of the club's receivers is that Kittle is still an outstanding player. Via PFF: Purdy's 134.5 passer rating when targeting Kittle over the past two seasons ranks first among the quarterback-receiver duos on this list. They also have more than 2,100 yards together during that time. Purdy and Kittle have established an incredible connection, which has stood true in both high- and low-volume situations. Kittle has had a career resurgence since Purdy took over as the starting QB. From 2020-22 he didn't have a 1,000-yard season, but he's had more than 1,000 in each of Purdy's full seasons as a starter. He also set a career-high with 11 touchdowns in 2022 thanks in part to seven TDs over the final four weeks of that season with Purdy under center. Those seven touchdowns would've been a career-high for a whole season. In 2023 Kittle hauled in six TDs, which tied his previous career-high, and in 2024 he pulled down eight TDs -- the second-most in his career. The 49ers can get by if Kittle continues producing at an All-Pro level. They'll still need to find production from their receiving corps, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if Kittle is the team's leading receiver with another 1,000-yard campaign. The nine-time All-Star spent his first five seasons with the club, earning NL Rookie of the Year honors in 2011 after going 4-3 with a 2.10 ERA in 79 appearances while converting a NL-high 46 out of 54 save opportunities. The club drafted the 6-foot, 215-pounder No. 96 overall in the 2008 MLB Draft and initially called him up in May 2010. He pitched 20.2 innings that season. Gonsolin joins Glasnow, Sasaki and Snell among 14 Dodgers pitchers on injured list

LOUIS (AP) — Tony Gonsolin was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday by the Dodgers because of right elbow discomfort, joining fellow rotation members Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki and Blake Snell among 14 Los Angeles pitchers on the IL. NL West-leading Los Angeles activated relievers Kirby Yates from the 15-day IL and Michael Kopech from the 60-day IL before Saturday's game against St. Louis and designated right-hander Chris Stratton for assignment, one day after he rejoined the team. Gonsolin, a 31-year-old right-hander, made his season debut on April 30 after recovering from Tommy John surgery on Aug. 18, 2023, and was 3-2 with a 5.00 ERA in seven starts. He last pitched Wednesday in a 6-1 loss to the New York Mets, allowing three runs — two earned — three hits and three walks in five innings. Other Dodgers pitchers on the IL are right-handers Luis García, Brudar Graterol, Michael Grove, Edgardo Henriquez, Kyle Hurt, Evan Phillips, River Ryan, Emmet Sheehan, Gavin Stone and Blake Treinen. Kopech, a 29-year-old right-hander, had been sidelined since spring training with right shoulder impingement and had a 15.63 ERA in nine rehab appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City from May 8 through last Sunday. Yates, a 38-year-old right-hander, had been sidelined since May 17 because of a strained right hamstring. He is 3-2 with a 4.34 ERA in 22 relief appearances, striking out 31 and walking six in 18 2/3 innings. Stratton, 34, signed with the Dodgers on May 25, three days after he was released by Kansas City. He was designated for assignment on June 2, refused an outright assignment to Oklahoma City, then re-signed with the Dodgers a day later.
