Schoolboy hit by police car
A schoolboy has been injured when he was hit by a police car at an intersection in Logan, south of Brisbane. A police spokesman said the incident happened about 2.50pm on Friday near the intersection of Jacaranda Ave and Wembley Rd in Logan Central. It is understood the police car had been stopped at lights and hit the boy when it moved drove through the other side of the intersection. The boy, who is believed to be a student at a nearby school, suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital for further treatment. It is understood the boy is in a stable condition. A police investigation is underway to determine what caused the incident.

13-year-old dead after car crashed into power pole, rolled in Regina's north end
A child is dead after a car crashed into a power pole and then rolled in Regina's north end Thursday morning. Regina police responded to the incident near Sixth Avenue North and Smith Street just after 5:30 a.m. CST, according to a news release. A 13-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said. Police are still investigating, but say charges are expected and more information will be released at a later date. Roads in the area were closed, but have since reopened.

5 Missing After Deadly Mine Collapse in Chile
Chile's state mining company shut one of its largest copper mines on Thursday after a partial collapse killed at least one person. Rescuers were searching for five others on Friday. The National Copper Corporation of Chile, known as Codelco, said a 'seismic event' on Thursday afternoon caused the accident. The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a magnitude-5 earthquake 17 miles northeast of Machali, where the El Teniente mine is located, at 5:34 p.m. local time. In a statement, Codelco said Paulo Marin Tapia was killed while working on the Andesita project, which is part of an expansion of the El Teniente mine. Rescue teams were searching for five missing workers on Friday morning. Nine others were injured, according to Codelco. Operations at the mine were immediately suspended after the incident on Thursday afternoon, Codelco said.
