Anushka Sharma
's film 'Chakda Xpress' has been in the news for a long time, while fans were once excited to see her return to acting in a powerful biopic, they are now left confused and disappointed, wondering when (or if) the film will finally be released.
And it's not just fans who are waiting.
Dibyendu Bhattacharya
, who stars alongside Anushka in the film, recently opened up about the long delay, and how he's just as clueless as the rest of us.
Bhattacharya admits he is eagerly waiting
In an interview with News18 Showsha, Dibyendu Bhattacharya spoke about how much the film means to him, and how excited he was to get a glimpse of it, even if it was not fully finished.
Dibyendu revealed, 'You don't know how badly I'm waiting for the film to release because it is a fantastic film," Dibyendu Bhattacharya told us.
'I always tell people… I watched it at Prosit's [director Prosit Roy] place. I told him, 'It's not releasing, but since you have it, at least show it to me.' He said it wasn't completely finished, not everything had been done, but I watched it and… it is such a beautiful film."
Anushka's best performance so far
Dibyendu also praised Anushka Sharma's performance in 'Chakda Xpress', calling it the best of her career. He added, 'It is the best performance of Anushka Sharma to date.
I don't know why they are not releasing it. It's a really, really fantastic film."
Shelved or simply postponed?
The big question on everyone's mind is whether 'Chakda Xpress' has been shelved completely or is just delayed. When asked about this, Dibyendu made it clear that even he doesn't know the answer, 'I have no idea," he said with the utmost honesty. 'If I had any information about the film, I would tell you first. I really don't know because Clean Slate is on one side and Netflix is on the other.
What's going on between the two, I have no clue," he further stated.
A long and emotional journey
For Dibyendu, this isn't just about one film not being released. He spoke about how the delay affects everyone involved in the making of a film, from actors to technicians and crew members. He explained, 'As an actor, I really want the film to see the light of day. A lot of hard work goes into making a film. From the day research begins to the final print, it's a long and emotionally invested journey.
So many people are involved.
So many ambitions ride on one film. Many families run on the income generated through it, technicians, daily wage workers. It's very sad."
What could be holding it back?
While Dibyendu didn't go into the details of why the film hasn't been released yet, he did hint that the issue might be between the production house Clean Slate and streaming platform Netflix. 'Clean Slate is on one side and Netflix is on the other. What's going on between the two, I have no clue."
About 'Chakda Xpress'
The film created a strong buzz when it was first announced. As Anushka's first film in years, and a biopic based on Indian cricket legend
Jhulan Goswami
, it promised a powerful story of struggle, determination and success.
