Brutal twist after Taylor Swift's celebrity romance: ‘Terrible'
Matty Healy's mum, Denise Welch, isn't over the 'heartbreak' her son endured after his short-lived romance with Taylor Swift ended — that's why she couldn't stay quiet on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Thursday.
'It's a horrible thing to have the most famous person in the world saying that your son broke her heart when it was the other way around, and then you can't even defend yourself,' a source told Us Weekly on Saturday.
They added, 'She's saying the mother-in-law stuff because that's where Matty thought it was headed. She's entitled to her opinion.'
Reps for Welch and Healy did not immediately return Page Six 's request for comment.
When asked by Andy Cohen what she thought of Swift's Tortured Poet's Department album — purported to be about The 1957 frontman and his romance with the singer that lasted only about a month in May 2023 — Welch declared that 'not being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad that I lost.'
As the audience gasped, the Celebrity Big Brother UK star, 67, quickly added that she doesn't 'have anything against [Swift] at all,' and called the situation 'tricky.'
'She — listen, you're not allowed to say anything, and then she writes a whole album about it,' Welch said of the Love Story hitmaker.
Us Weekly 's insider said it's been difficult for Welch to keep quiet when it comes to her son's former romance.
'Any mum can imagine what it would feel like — but then you have to multiply it by a million because of how famous [Taylor] is,' they told the outlet.
'I wish I could say she's used to it, but she's not.'
The source also said that the reality star 'is still Matty's mum at the end of the day, and it was bloody hard for her to stay quiet during the whole ordeal.'
'Now that time has gone by, she's saying what she can because she knows that her son got hurt.'
The insider asserted that 'you can't blame a mum for standing up for her child,' and called their split 'terrible' for Healy.
Swift, 35, has since gone on to a widely publicised relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, while Healy, 36, is engaged to model and actress Gabbriette Bechtel.
On Watch What Happens Live, Welch insisted the family has 'moved on' from the alleged drama.
'He is very happy with his amazing fiancee Gabriella, who is gorgeous,' she said.

It's been 32 years since Mrs Doubtfire graced our screens. Now, the actor who played Chris Hillard wishes to resurrect his late co-star, the legendary Robin Williams, in a very 2025 way. Matthew Lawrence wants Williams to be the trusty voice reading out the weather on our smart speakers. He told Entertainment Weekly that the actor should be the next 'voice of AI.' 'I would love — now, obviously, with the respect and with the okay from his family — but I would love to do something really special with his voice because I know for a generation, that voice is just so iconic.' 'It's not just the fact that I knew him and worked with him, and so it's in my head — it's in everybody's head. And it would be so cool.' The idea came to Lawrence after watching one of Williams' old commercials. The actor, who died by suicide in 2014 at age 63, had done a computerised voiceover that Lawrence found eerily ahead of its time. 'It's kinda like this very contemporary, modern, almost sort of foreshadowing of what's going on commercial that he did, where he did this computerised voiceover,' he explains. 'And it always stuck with me. And then, during his passing, with the AI coming out, I'm like, 'Man, he's gotta be the voice of A.I. He's gotta be the voice in something.' So yeah, I would love to do that.' There's no denying Williams' voice is instantly recognisable. Hearing it again would likely spark nostalgia and joy for many. Still, using AI in a project like this raises serious concerns. Lawrence, clearly enthusiastic, suggested plenty of possibilities for Robin's voice in tech — even using it for driving navigation. 'It would be Robin!' Lawrence happily stated. 'It would be so cool. I'm telling you.' Yelling at Siri or Alexa when you miss a turn is normal these days. But yelling at the voice of Robin Williams might come with some follow-up guilt. William's daughter, Zelda Williams, has publicly slammed AI recreations of her father. During the SAG-AFTRA strike in October 2023, she posted a statement on social media expressing her discomfort with the technology. 'I am not an impartial voice in SAG's fight against AI,' Zelda, 35, wrote. 'I've witnessed for YEARS how many people want to train these models to create/recreate actors who cannot consent, like Dad.' 'I've already heard AI used to get his 'voice' to say whatever people want and while I find it personally disturbing, the ramifications go far beyond my own feelings,' she continued. 'Living actors deserve a chance to create characters with their choices, to voice cartoons, to put their HUMAN effort and time into the pursuit of performance.' Lawrence was just a pre-teen when he played Williams' son in 1993's Mrs. Doubtfire, and their relationship clearly made a lasting impression. At the first annual '90s Con in 2022, Lawrence shared how Williams — who struggled with substance abuse — warned him about the dangers of drugs during filming. '[Williams] was very serious. He was like, 'You know when you come to my trailer and you see me like that?'' Lawrence shared. 'He's like, 'That's the reason why. And now I'm fighting for the rest of my life because I spent 10 years doing something very stupid every day. Do not do it.' I stayed away from it because of him.' In an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lawrence reflected on two key lessons Williams taught him: the importance of compassion, and not judging others without walking in their shoes. 'He really quantified what it was to be a real artist for me in the sense that he was definitely,' Lawrence said, 'and I worked with some great people, and he was definitely the most brilliant artist I've ever worked with.'

And Just Like That: Can reboots ever out-do the originals?
And just like that, Kim Cattrall appears to have been right all along. Cattrall was accused of being a cocktail party-pooper for refusing to reprise her role as Samantha Jones in the much-anticipated Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That … due to tensions with series star Sarah Jessica Parker. Apart from a brief cameo (filmed without any of her estranged co-stars present), Samantha has been MIA from the three seasons of the refreshed series, her absence from her previously ride-or-die friendship with Carrie Bradshaw and co in New York explained by a move to London. In an interview with Variety, Cattrall admitted that, given the huge popularity of the series, it was difficult not to be bullied into returning by fans and the press. 'I haven't deserted anybody,' she said, defending her choice to leave Samantha behind. 'Can you imagine going back to a job you did 25 years ago? And the job didn't get easier; it got more complicated in the sense of: how are you going to progress with these characters?' The answer to that question, fans discovered, were storylines which generally seem to fluctuate between cringe-inducing and just plain boring. But are fans, blinded by nostalgic affection, being too hard on the And Just Like That's leading ladies? While the original Sex and the City was criticised for its lack of diversity, And Just Like That copped flack for being too woke. In particular, the character of Che Diaz (an embarrassingly unfunny stand-up comedian played by Sara Ramirez) became the target of vitriol. Ahead of their departure from the series, Ramirez sought to distance themselves from the divisive Che. 'I am not the fictional characters I have played, nor am I responsible for the things that are written for them to say,' Ramirez wrote on Instagram. 'I am a human being, an artist, an actor. And we are living in a world that has become increasingly hostile toward anyone who dares to free themselves from the gender binary or disrupt the mainstream.' In an interview with The Guardian, Parker admitted she was shocked to learn there was so much hatred for Che. 'I've been an actor for 50 years, and I've almost never paid attention to peripheral chatter,' she said, adding that she had a good time on set with Ramirez. 'I loved working with them.' Even now that Che has thankfully left the high-rise building — but although not before seducing Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) in the kitchen while a bedridden Carrie listened in and was forced to pee in a drink bottle. And Just Like That's writers have found new and unexpected ways to make viewers squirm and roll their eyes. Three seasons in, and many fans are also wishing they'd followed Cattrall's lead and sat this one out after enduring a cringe-inducing phone sex session between Carrie (Parker) and Aidan Shaw (John Corbett), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) deflowering a nun, and Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler) wetting his leather pants at a nightclub. Oh, and don't get me started on that huge Strawberry Shortcake hat donned by Carrie for a stroll in the park. A guest appearance by Patti LuPone as a judgmental diva was unfortunately timed given the legendary performer's recent cancellation for her snarky remarks about Broadway actors Kecia Lewis and Audra McDonald in The New Yorker. Likewise, fans have noticed glaring continuity errors involving Aidan's estranged wife Kathy (Rosemarie DeWitt) and the father of Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker). DeWitt played a completely different character in Sex and the City before showing up as Kathy. While Lisa referenced her dad's death back in season one – only to have him drop dead as a plot point in season three. After pointing out the double standards that see female-led shows more subject to scrutiny than those starring men, Parker has found silver linings in all the commentary about the series. 'I ultimately think that all those feelings are pretty fantastic. That kind of connection and those kinds of strong feelings, both positive and negative, are pretty wonderful,' she told Huffpost UK. Let's face it, a show like Sex and the City – which was so groundbreaking and beloved by its fans – was going to be a tough act to follow. The same could be said for any sequel or reboot. Some, like the reimagined Heartbreak High and Cobra Kai breathe new life into an old favourite while retaining just enough nostalgic references to keep diehard fans happy. Others, like the renewed Offspring, the Neighbours' short-lived resuscitation of Neighbours or the meta-reboot of Beverly Hills, 90210, never quite hit the same high notes as the original. Prince Harry's latest peace offering to estranged dad King Charles and brother Prince William revealed
Prince Harry has reportedly agreed to share his official diary with the royal family as a peace offering to his dad, King Charles III, and brother Prince William. The olive branch would help avoid schedule conflicts between Harry and Meghan Markle's events and royal family engagements, the Daily Mail reported Saturday. The proposal is allegedly a way of shutting down claims that the Sussexes are trying to steal the spotlight from the British royals. The move came days after Harry's trip to Angola dominated headlines and buried Charles' wife Queen Camilla's 78th birthday portrait reveal. Harry's transparency could potentially pave the way for a face-to-face meeting between him and his estranged dad being scheduled into their busy itineraries, especially considering peace talks have allegedly been held between the two camps. 'Before that meeting between their aides in London, conflicts of interest or clashes of publicity were relished and even perhaps encouraged by the Sussexes,' an insider claimed to the outlet, adding, 'Now, Harry has shifted into a new way of thinking. The tone is now all about 'deconflicting' with his family.' The source explained that the Sussex household has offered to 'draw up a 'grid' of his activities and share them with Buckingham Palace.' In doing so, Kensington Palace would also be looped in on the plans, therefore keeping William and Kate Middleton informed. 'Harry still doesn't like being controlled by the Royal machinery, and that won't change,' the insider said. 'However, if the Royal Family have full sight of his movements they can at least plan accordingly.' The source called Harry's peace offering a 'significant gesture.' Page Six has reached out to Harry's rep for comment. Harry, 40, has been on the outs with his father, 76, and older brother, 43, since he and Markle, also 43, resigned from their royal duties in 2020. They ultimately moved to Montecito, California, where they live with their two kids: Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4. The Invictus Games founder went on to drag his royal family members in several interviews as well as in his memoir, Spare. However, Harry has since shared his desire to reconcile with the reigning monarch and even allegedly invited his dad and brother to his 2027 Invictus Games. Meanwhile, Markle has been busy building her lifestyle empire with her Goop-like brand, As Ever.
