Pundit urges Celtic fans to ease off Adam Idah criticism
The striker played a part in both of Celtic's victories over St Mirren and Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, as Brendan Rodgers' side started the defence of their title in strong fashion.
The Republic of Ireland striker has yet to open his account for the 2025/26 campaign, although did score plenty last season, despite taking his fair share of criticism from the stands.
That appears to have continued into the start of this season, which is something Goodman feels is unfair.
"I would say it's difficult to be critical of a player after two games, which is what the Celtic fans might be basing their criticism off the back of," he told Compare.bet. "Or maybe it was last season's performances, but he scored 20 goals in 53 games.

"They've had some fantastic strikers in the past like Mark Viduka and Henrik Larsson, and while Adam Idah isn't comparable to those guys and it wouldn't be fair for Celtic fans to do so, and I don't think they are, all I know is that he's a Celtic fan.
"So, he'll be desperate to do well at Celtic Football Club. But from Brendan Rodgers' perspective, I think they look a little bit light in that area to me.
"While there is time in the transfer window and we may see another striker come in, I wouldn't write Adam Idah off just yet.
"Like I said, he scored 20 goals in 53 games last season. I don't think he's a prolific scorer in general terms, but it's hard to be critical after two games, I would say."

Devenny was at it again on Sunday, sticking up his hand to take the crucial fifth spot kick. And he didn't disappoint as he found the net to spark wild celebrations. Devenny had nerves of steel – and he revealed his grit was forged in the lower leagues in Scotland. The youngster's only other spot kick in his pro career came in Airdrie's 6-5 shootout win against Hamilton in 2023 to escape the third tier and claim a place in the Championship. Devenny said: 'I've taken one professional penalty, which was in the play-off final for Airdrie three years ago. 'It wasn't quite this, there were a few thousand there. But it's the same thing at the end of the day, taking a penalty. Did I score that one? Of course!' Devenny has always believed he could crack the big time – and had no doubts stepping up in front of 82,000 fans at Wembley. He said: 'I was confident and I believe in myself. I put my name down before. I didn't have to take a penalty, but I wanted to. 'I wanted to be the fifth one, I wanted to be the one that scored and win it. "He (manager Oliver Glasner) was asking who wanted to take a penalty and I said: 'I will take one' 'I was quite happy that it was in front of the Liverpool fans, you are going to get the abuse and the noise – but it is just about staying in the zone. 'Thankfully I scored, the emotions were great, I didn't know how to celebrate, it was almost too much to take in. It's a great feeling. 'I'm playing the sport I love for a living. These are the moments you want to be part of. 'Anyone would say yeah to have the chance to take the winning penalty in the Community Shield final. I was lucky enough to do it.' Devenny rammed home from the spot – and plunged another dagger in the hearts of the Tartan Army. The midfielder was whipped away by the Northern Irish from right under his horn nation's noses before he even got to Palace. Devenny came through the SFA performance school system but the summons came from over the water after an instant impact with Airdrie. Former St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright – who was part of the Northern Ireland youth set up – had been tracking the kid even longer after learning about his Belfast born granny. Scotland missed the boat and Palace stepped in soon after – with Devenny making his senior debut in the Nations League days in the same week he became the youngster scorer for the Eagles in the top flight with his strike against Aston Villa. The midfielder's career has started to soar and admitted he has no regrets at flying over the Irish Sea. Devenny said: 'Northern Ireland showed trust in me. It was an easy enough decision for me although I am Scottish – you can hear it in my voice – I have really enjoyed my time with Northern Ireland. They showed that trust.'

It was filed close to two months after it emerged Barnes had racked up more than £1.5 million in debts at his media company, John Barnes Media Limited. That included almost £800,000 due to HMRC. The most recent liquidators' report on his media firm showed he owed HMRC £776,878 in unpaid VAT, NI and PAYE. The 61-year-old was banned from being a company director for more than three-and-a-half years in 2024, after his company failed to pay more than £78,000 in corporation tax between August 2018 and January 2020. And the business was found to have failed to pay nearly £200,000 in corporation tax and VAT combined during that 18-month period, following a report by the Insolvency Agency. Barnes also owed unsecured creditors £461,849, a directors loan worth £226,000, and liquidators' costs amounting to £56,535. The cult hero winger, who won two league titles and two FA Cups at Anfield, has staved off multiple previous bankruptcy petitions since 2010. He last avoided going bust in May 2023 after settling a personal-tax bill of more than £200,000. Another petition lodged against him was dismissed in court later that same year. Mike Smith, chief investigator at the Insolvency Service, said: "Individuals and businesses not paying the tax they should deprives the Government of the funding it needs to provide vital public services and investment in areas such as schools, hospitals and roads. "John Barnes had a legal duty to ensure his company paid the correct amount of corporation tax and VAT. Instead, it paid no tax whatsoever between November 2018 and October 2020, despite receiving earnings of well over £400,000. "This disqualification should serve as a deterrent to other directors that if you do not pay your taxes while directing money elsewhere, you are at risk of being banned." Barnes, who had an ill-fated spell as Celtic manager between 1999 and 2000, set up his media business in 2012. He also managed Jamaica and Tranmere Rovers and has appeared as a pundit since hanging up his boots. Between November 2018 and October 2020 (the period in which close to £200,000 of unpaid debt to HMRC was accrued), the company had a turnover of £441,798. The Insolvency Service said nothing was paid to HMRC in tax during that period, despite the company filing returns showing what the VAT payments should have been. An investigation found that not only had the company failed to pay £78,839 in that period but also failed to pay £115,272 in VAT between February 2019 and 2020. The company ceased trading in January 2020 and it later entered liquidation. Barnes has previously declared he "doesn't like dealing with taxes". He admitted so to The Telegraph back in 2009 after he saw a bankruptcy order against him rescinded following what he called a "tax oversight". Barnes said then: "I don't like dealing with taxes of course. "I just hate not having enough money. Apart from that, I don't like dealing with bills and never have done. I let my wife Andrea deal with them. I don't even like opening them. A few times my credit card has been declined when I've been travelling abroad. "Then I have to get creative about paying the bill and have to really root around. That's much more satisfying than just having it come easily." "They've already set up a brilliant partnership on that left-hand side and I know what it's like if you're a wide player, the most important player on the pitch for the guy behind you. "You have to have an understanding of it and you hope he's good, I played with some good ones over here, Stevie Clark being one of them. When you have that, you can destroy teams. "You absolutely destroy teams. They will do that. "If Kieran stays fit, it's not a matter of if he could be the player of the year, it's that he will be."
