A FORMER Celtic manager is facing bankruptcy again - just two years after he last fended off the threat of financial ruin.
Despite a glorious playing career his spell at Celtic didn't go well and since retiring from playing he has multiple run-ins with HMRC.

Ex-Liverpool, Newcastle United and England hero John Barnes was on the receiving end of a petition lodged at the High Court today by the tax authorities.
It was filed close to two months after it emerged Barnes had racked up more than £1.5 million in debts at his media company, John Barnes Media Limited.
That included almost £800,000 due to HMRC.
The most recent liquidators' report on his media firm showed he owed HMRC £776,878 in unpaid VAT, NI and PAYE.
The 61-year-old was banned from being a company director for more than three-and-a-half years in 2024, after his company failed to pay more than £78,000 in corporation tax between August 2018 and January 2020.
And the business was found to have failed to pay nearly £200,000 in corporation tax and VAT combined during that 18-month period, following a report by the Insolvency Agency.
Barnes also owed unsecured creditors £461,849, a directors loan worth £226,000, and liquidators' costs amounting to £56,535.
The cult hero winger, who won two league titles and two FA Cups at Anfield, has staved off multiple previous bankruptcy petitions since 2010.
He last avoided going bust in May 2023 after settling a personal-tax bill of more than £200,000.
Another petition lodged against him was dismissed in court later that same year.

In the most recent case, Barnes has paid back £60,000 in instalments, according to the liquidators' report.
Mike Smith, chief investigator at the Insolvency Service, said: "Individuals and businesses not paying the tax they should deprives the Government of the funding it needs to provide vital public services and investment in areas such as schools, hospitals and roads.
"John Barnes had a legal duty to ensure his company paid the correct amount of corporation tax and VAT. Instead, it paid no tax whatsoever between November 2018 and October 2020, despite receiving earnings of well over £400,000.
"This disqualification should serve as a deterrent to other directors that if you do not pay your taxes while directing money elsewhere, you are at risk of being banned."
Barnes, who had an ill-fated spell as Celtic manager between 1999 and 2000, set up his media business in 2012.
He also managed Jamaica and Tranmere Rovers and has appeared as a pundit since hanging up his boots.
Between November 2018 and October 2020 (the period in which close to £200,000 of unpaid debt to HMRC was accrued), the company had a turnover of £441,798.
The Insolvency Service said nothing was paid to HMRC in tax during that period, despite the company filing returns showing what the VAT payments should have been.
An investigation found that not only had the company failed to pay £78,839 in that period but also failed to pay £115,272 in VAT between February 2019 and 2020.
The company ceased trading in January 2020 and it later entered liquidation.
Barnes has previously declared he "doesn't like dealing with taxes".
He admitted so to The Telegraph back in 2009 after he saw a bankruptcy order against him rescinded following what he called a "tax oversight".
Barnes said then: "I don't like dealing with taxes of course.
"I just hate not having enough money. Apart from that, I don't like dealing with bills and never have done. I let my wife Andrea deal with them. I don't even like opening them. A few times my credit card has been declined when I've been travelling abroad.
"Then I have to get creative about paying the bill and have to really root around. That's much more satisfying than just having it come easily."

For all the chopping and changing at Stamford Bridge, Terry — who mentors players in the academy — can see a bright future after a summer of success. Eight months ago, boss Enzo Maresca was shooting down suggestions of a title challenge. Six months ago, the fans were chanting angrily towards their manager that they wanted 'their Chelsea back'. 'If you're the manager now coming into that dressing room and you're going, 'We've got a chance this year', the players will think we've got a chance. This year I think his message will be different. He can make such a difference. 'We've seen the quality. When Reece is at it, he is the world's best right-back. 'When you've picked up a couple of injuries like Reece has had, it's difficult to really feel like you belong. 'So when you start demanding from people around you, when you're the one not playing, that's also very difficult. 'When you're in the starting line-up week in, week out, it's easy to command and run the dressing room — and the standards of the football club.' Terry made more than 500 appearances as captain and says boss Jose Mourinho always demanded his skipper be robust and a regular. JT said: 'You need to be robust. You need to understand that you can push through little injuries, niggles, and you can kind of come out the other side of it. 'You need to manage your body throughout the week and all of that.' As well as mentoring players in the Under-18s and U21s, Terry stops in to catch up and offer support to players such as James and Colwill. He even spoke to the pair of defenders before this interview. 6 Captain Reece James has found regular football difficult to come by due to injury trouble Credit: Getty 6 Levi Colwill's brutal ACL injury scuppered what was expected to be a strong season Credit: Alamy Terry added: 'We talk generally about football and some situations — but it's super relaxed. 'Out of pure respect, I don't get too involved because I fully respect the manager and his role. 'I would never want to say something that goes against what he's saying to those players. 'But the boys know I'm always there if they need me. 'Not just the defenders but the ones that have just arrived. Always here to help. That's my role as someone who has been at Chelsea for so long and the club means the world to me.' And that is the clubman role he wants some of his academy predecessors to take up. Terry said: 'You've got Reece and there's a few other boys that really live and breathe Chelsea. 'But the boys that come in and really buy into the club, this is where the importance of Reece, Levi and the academy graduates really play an important role. 'This is how we do it. This is what we do at Chelsea. We win football trophies and we win cups on a regular basis. 'All the top clubs have that. Man United have that, Liverpool have that, Arsenal. Spurs not so much . . . 6 Terry was an assistant under Dean Smith at Aston Villa and Leicester Credit: Getty 'But all the big football clubs have that — they find a way to win. 'So in terms of where we were last year . . . a little bit inexperienced. Thiago Silva left and all of that. But the team managed to find a way to win.' Terry also believes recent successes will be transformative for the Blues. While the Conference League would have been scoffed at during Terry's era had it existed, now it is viewed as a stepping stone within the camp. He said: 'It gives you belief, back when we won our first one, the 2004-05 Carling Cup at Cardiff, it gives you belief that it can be done within the squad. 'When you're a young group, it ripples throughout the whole squad of players.' If this group can match what Terry and his team-mates did after that Carling Cup win 20 years ago, the Blues will be in for one hell of a ride once more. Inheritance tax will apply to pension pots... even if workers die before retirement as Rachel Reeves tries to fill financial black hole

Inheritance tax will apply to pension pots even if workers die before retirement age as Rachel Reeves scrambles to fill a financial black hole, according to reports. The Chancellor announced last year that retirement savings will be subject to the levy from April 2027. At present, the pots are passed tax-free to beneficiaries of a will. Under the new rules, funds could be taxed at 40 per cent, the i paper reported. HMRC confirmed to the outlet the tax will apply even if the saver had never accessed the funds. It came after reports Ms Reeves is eyeing changes to inheritance tax to help plug public finances. Policing minister Diana Johnson yesterday failed to dismiss speculation that Labour could introduce a lifetime cap limiting what a person can gift before their death. Last week, a report by the National Institute of Economic and Social Research said Ms Reeves must find up to £50billion in tax rises or spending cuts. Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride said targeting pension pots would be 'tantamount to class warfare'.

Celtic vs Falkirk: Premier Sports Cup action returns to Parkhead as Rodgers aims to continue perfect start

SCOTT BAIN was in the Celtic dugout the last time these two teams clashed in the competition 11 months ago - at the quarter-final stage. But this week the former Celtic goalkeeper could take on his old team-mates at his old shooting ground at Parkhead - in the Premier Sports Cup last 16. 2 Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers Credit: PA 2 Falkirk boss John McGlynn Credit: Kenny Ramsay Celtic host John McGlynn's side in their first domestic cup fixture after receiving a bye to miss the group stage and progress straight to the knockout round. Both sides faced off at the same stadium last September, but Falkirk were in the Championship at that point. Now this is set to be the first of at least four meetings between the two sides after the Bairns won the second tier last season. The last meeting of course ended in a victory for Celts as Brendan Rodgers' men went on to lift the trophy following a penalty shootout win over Rangers at Hampden in December. But while the quarter-final meeting ended in a 5-2 win for the Hoops, it wasn't quite as comfortable as the scoreline suggests. It was actually Falkirk who raced in front TWICE in that tie, having initially taken the lead through Ross MacIver after 11 minutes. Finn Yeats then ensured they held onto their lead at half-time with a stoppage time goal after Paulo Bernardo's equaliser. A brace from Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah in the second half guaranteed the win, though, and the first half scares were quickly forgotten about. But can McGlynn's side stun the Hoops again and get the job done come full-time on Friday? SunSport has all the details ahead of the cup cracker. Team news Jota remains the only long-term absentee for Celtic which sees Rodgers having a full squad aside from him at his disposal for this game. Kieran Tierney will be available for selection despite the manager revealing he was SICK at half-time of the 2-0 win against Pittodrie. There could be a place in the matchday squad for the first time for new signing Jahmai Simpson-Pusey after he was left out against Aberdeen. Shin Yamada could make his first start after looking promising off the bench in the second half in the Granite City. Falkirk, meanwhile, will likely be without star man Ethan Ross after he suffered a nasty ankle injury against Livingston. Other players expected to be missing for the Bairns include Finn Yeats, Tom Lang, Coll Donaldson and Barney Stewart.
