Longhorns women's basketball adds to their trophy case at international tournament
With the Globl Tournament in the books, Longhorns women's basketball can turn its attention to the 2025-2026 campaign. However, they will be coming back to Austin with some new hardware after an impressive run. The Longhorns finished the tournament with a 3-1 record, earning a silver medal. After starting the tournament with a 3-0 record, Texas lost to Team Canada on Sunday in a 72-65 defeat. In the Longhorns' loss, Rori Harmon scored ten points and dished out nine assists. Madison Booker also shined with 11 points and six rebounds. For the majority of the games, Texas was able to keep the game closer. However, in the second half, Team Canada ended the third quarter on a 6-0 run. They continued to build on their lead by scoring the first five points of the fourth quarter. That gave Team Canada a lead they would not relinquish. In the tournament, Texas was able to record wins over Team Puerto and Team Brazil. They also showed great team chemistry despite many new faces, which has only raised expectations for the 2025-2026 campaign. Last season the Longhorns made it to the Final Four and are looking to make another deep title run. When the Longhorns do return to the court they are expected to be one of the best teams in the SEC after shining on the global stage.

Lakers jersey history No. 3 — Corey Brewer
Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary. As the Lakers approach their 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years. Here is a look at Corey Brewer, a forward who played for the Lakers several years ago. Brewer grew up in Tennessee and played three seasons of college basketball at the University of Florida. While there, he won back-to-back NCAA championships in 2006 and 2007 along with future NBA standouts Joakim Noah and Al Horford, and he was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2007 Final Four. After he was the No. 7 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, Brewer played for five teams in his first 10 pro seasons. One of those teams was the Dallas Mavericks, with whom he won a championship in 2011. The Lakers traded guard Lou Williams, who had won the first of three Sixth Man of the Year awards two seasons prior, for Brewer midway through the 2016-17 campaign. They kept Brewer for about one full calendar year until waiving him on Feb. 28, 2018. In 78 games with Los Angeles, he averaged 4.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.8 steals in 13.5 minutes a game. Brewer remained in the NBA through the 2019-20 season. The following season, the New Orleans Pelicans hired him to be a player development coach, and he became an assistant coach prior to this past season.

Former Spartans star signs with Polish basketball club
A pair of former Spartans are linking up in Poland. Former Spartans big man Kenny Goins has reportedly signed with the Polish club Trefl Sopot. According to 247Sports' reporter Stephen Brooks, Goins will be joining the same club as former Spartans big man Szymon Zapala. Goins played for the Spartans from 2015 to 2019, where he played a big part in the Spartans winning a pair of Big Ten titles and reaching the Final Four in 2019. It was his shot against Duke in the Elite Eight that propelled the Spartans to the Final Four that season. Since leaving Michigan State, Goins has primarily played in Europe. According to Basketball Reference, Goins has played a pair of seasons in the Greek Basketball League and one year in the France LNB Pro A. He will now be heading to Poland and play alongside a fellow former Spartan.
