Tom Grennan says Paul Mescal 'didn't remember' him after they hung out at Glastonbury
Speaking to Roman Kemp on the BBC Sounds podcast the singer told how Mescal had introduced himself to Grennan in Ireland – even though they had met just a week before. Singer Tom said he 'got to Ireland and met Paul, I've met him before, I was at Glastonbury with him, good mates, best mates. 'And, he didn't remember me, right. I was like 'you all right Paul', and he's like, 'aright, good to meet ya'. Tom recalls the awkward moment he encountered Paul after Glastonbury News in 90 Seconds - Aug 7th 'I was like, 'I was with you last time' (at Glastonbury) and (mimicking an Irish accent) Tom says he said, 'sorry 'bout that, sorry 'bout that'.' Kemp held his hands up to his face in second-hand embarrassment and then asked Tom: 'Wait, how long were you with him at Glastonbury' to which Tom replied: 'A good few hours. Enough for him to remember me, you know, what I mean, so I had to take that.' The Normal People star presumably remembers being there with Gracie Abrams as they went 'Instagram official' at the music festival. Having been quietly dating for almost a year, the pair had been spotted out and about together but never confirmed their romance. However, at Glastonbury, Paul was seen singing along to Gracie's songs as she performed on The Other Stage. Gracie also shared a video to her Instagram Story of them watching an act on stage where the American singer can be seen on Paul's shoulders as they dance. The couple were also joined by Paul's siblings singer Nell and Donnacha, and by his Normal People co-stars India Mullen and Fionn O'Shea. Last Christmas, Grennan and rising Irish singer-songwriter Allie Sherlock from Douglas in Cork brought shoppers to a standstill on Dublin's Grafton Street. Read more Passers-by got a major surprise when she was joined by chart-topper Grennan and they performed his song, It Can't Be Christmas. Allie told how Tom knew her song (How Love Works) having heard it on The Late Late Show 'because he's half-Irish from Offaly'. 'He loves The Late Late Show and watched my performance on it, and loved how it worked. I was like, 'Tom Grennan loves my song!' And then we sang that together as well. You can't beat the Irish and he's so nice as well.' Mescal was spotted in the royal box as the Wimbledon Championships drew to a close earlier this summer with the men's singles final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Mescal was seated alongside Keira Knightley and actors Andrew Scott and her husband, Klaxon's musician James Righton and looked sharp in a dark jacket, white shirt and colourful patterned tie.
