Long-running EastEnders couple at an end as statement is issued
It's over! EastEnders' Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) has called time on her relationship with Peter Beale (Thomas Law) in tonight's episode.
The couple have been struggling immensely in the wake of newborn son Jimmy's visual impairment diagnosis – something which Peter openly blamed Lauren for.
Lauren took responsibility, given her painkiller addiction while she was pregnant, but was hoping that her fiancé would take a more sympathetic approach moving forward in their relationship.
This wasn't the case, and after a vicious argument, she stormed out of the house and attempted to hit the bottle.
Luckily, she didn't relapse. However, a heart to heart with Zack Hudson (James Farrar) led to the two enjoying a kiss, and she stayed the night. The next morning she was relieved that they hadn't slept together, knowing that she'd have to head home and face Peter.
When they eventually came face to face, he was furious, and demanded to know where she'd disappeared to. Quickly covering, she said she'd spent the night with a friend.
Not exactly a lie, but by not divulging the friend's identity only intensified Peter's suspicions.
Later, when he returned home from the hospital with Jimmy, he urged Lauren to come clean about what had happened. She admitted to almost relapsing, and he declared their relationship to be over.
However, in tonight's episode, there seemed to be hope of a reconciliation.
Peter opened up to grandmother Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) about his worries, and although he had said about seeking full custody of his sons, he would put that to one side if Lauren agreed to move forward.
Heading across The Square, he once again asked Lauren to come clean about where she had spent the evening, but she remained firm that she was just 'with a friend.'

Despite making amends, the seed of doubt was still in Peter's mind. More Trending
He headed to The Queen Vic, and pulled Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) to one side for some legal advice – he still wanted a back up plan should Lauren relapse again.
The conversation was overheard by Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton), who then reported back to an enraged Lauren.
She stormed into the Beale residence, and told him – under no uncertain terms – that they were no longer together.

Casualty declares major incident as first look is revealed
A major incident is declared in tomorrow's episode of Casualty, as an ambulance crashes right into the ED. The instalment will be the final part of the show's latest boxset, which is called Internal Affairs. In the spotlight this mini-series have been characters including Rida Amaan (Sarah Seggari), Faith Cadogan (Kirsty Mitchell) and new Clinical Lead Flynn Byron (Olly Rix). Rida faced a horrific ordeal at work a few weeks ago, when she was sexually assaulted by her colleague Mr Whitelaw (Robert Bathurst). The nurse attempted to record a confession from Russell, but he worked out what she was doing and pulled her hijab from her, another ordeal that left Rida terrified. This violation was discovered by Flynn, who had walked in on Russell and Rida shortly after it happened. Complex Flynn Byron made quite the entrance at the start of this boxset, as he was involved in an RTC. Gaining the respect of his colleagues was very important to Flynn but he had a battle with Rash Masum (Neet Mohan) in particular, who put Flynn in his bad books after Tariq Hussein (Manpreet Bachu) left. More Trending Last week, the ED staff gathered together to celebrate Faith and Iain Dean's (Michael Stevenson) wedding. After the happiness comes drama though, as they'll be forced to act fast when an ambulance crashes through the entrance of the hospital. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Sir David Jason's rare appearance at British Soap Awards has fans all saying same thing
Fans all said the same thing as Sir David took to the stage to present an award on Saturday night. Sir David Jason 's appearance at the British Soap Awards last night really got tongues wagging. The legendary actor was on hand to present the Best British Soap award this evening. The glittering soap awards took place on Saturday night but were broadcast on Thursday evening and after a slight delay due to a technical hitch, the awards were underway. David was on hand to give the Best Soap award to EastEnders, writes The Mirror. And as the Only Fools and Horses icon made his way on the stage to present the big award, the soap stars in the audience were in awe of the iconic actor and viewers at home were the same. One fan on social media penned: "The legendary Sir David Jason walking out to screams of excitement and admiration was incredible, the atmosphere was truly electric. Couldn't have wished for a better person to announce the winner," whilst another added: "Great to see Sir David Jason on the #BritishSoapAwards tonight. What an absolute legend!!" "Huge congratulations to EastEnders and how well does Sir David Jason look !! What a legend #britishsoapawards," a third wrote, whilst another added: "I teared up seeing David Jason." A fifth wrote: "N'awww a standing ovation for Sir David Jason." The 85 year old previously opened up about how he had to give up his beloved helicopter with "extreme reluctance" as he struggled with his physical health. He said: "You need your hips, legs and knees to be in pretty tip-top condition for helicopter flying. "Also your arms and shoulders. It's rather like playing a drum kit in that regard, although the consequences of getting out of time during the second verse are quite a bit graver." He added: "I realised I was getting increasingly uncomfortable up there in the air. Having to push the physical part of the task was taking some of the joy out of it. Clearly it was time to step away while I was still capable of stepping." He also went on to say how that was such a big part of his life - and it had been his "most satisfying accomplishment". "Flying that helicopter was a big part of my life. It was a lot of fun, obviously, but also just the most satisfying accomplishment. Some people have the piano, and some people have oil painting. I had the helicopter and it's over now, but I'll always be proud that I can call myself a qualified helicopter pilot," he explained of his love of flying a helicopter. Back in 2023, David also opened up about his health as he admitted his concerns over his memory and his physical health. "My memory isn't what it used to be ... Most of us reach this point when things aren't quite as bright as they used to be," he said as he discussed his hip replacement and his general health, "Mind you, I don't wear a hearing aid, I don't wear glasses, and I've only had to replace one bit of my body, so I'm not doing too bad."
