The staging of the 2025 KZN Premier's Cup has been thrown into doubt following confirmation that Kaizer Chiefs will host their Toyota Cup clash in Durban on the same weekend as the annual provincial tournament.
Now in its 14th year, the Premier's Cup has long served as the key pre-season event for KwaZulu-Natal's top-flight and professional clubs.
Traditionally held during the last weekend of July, the competition draws major interest as clubs like AmaZulu, Golden Arrows, and Richards Bay fine-tune preparations ahead of the new Betway Premiership season.
In years past, the tournament has crowned provincial champions, with former clubs such as Royal AM and the recently restructured Maritzburg United among previous winners.
However, the integrity and focus of the 2025 edition now appear under threat.
The second edition of the Kaizer Chiefs Toyota Cup is set to take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, July 26, the same weekend earmarked for the Premier's Cup.
Chiefs will welcome Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko for what promises to be a spectacle, with thousands expected to descend on the city to witness the Soweto giants' latest recruits in action.

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs shown door by new club, reunites with Ntseki

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Keagan Dolly has cleared the air following his release from TS Galaxy. The 32-year-old attacker left Amakhosi last year and has to sit out six months without a club. He joined the Rockets in the second half of the 2024/25 season, where he scored three goals. Despite his good showing, Dolly was one of the many senior players released by the club. The former Kaizer Chiefs captain is currently with the Bafana Bafana squad for the CHAN tournament. 'I wanted to stay as well, but obviously a few… I won't say problems, but decisions had to be made on a few senior players, and salaries and all of that, but I think the Chairman spoke about it,' he said. 'But for me personally, I don't think it was worth it anymore to stay at the club and not get what you deserve, so I felt like it was time for me to move on and try and look for something better. 'Not only for me, I'm getting to the latter stages of my career, it's also about my family at this point, where everyone is comfortable. 'So, I had to think long and hard about it, because to be fair, TS Galaxy was good to me, a good club that promoted many youngsters. But it was a decision I had to make for my future and my families future,' Dolly said. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. TS Galaxy snap up another Kaizer Chiefs youth product!

TS Galaxy FC have struck again by signing another Kaizer Chiefs youth product as the 2025-26 season is about to kick off. On Wednesday, The Rockets announced eight new signings that are expected to bolster their squad in different departments. And headlining the list was none other Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi who captained the Chiefs DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team. Nkosi would have hoped to be given a chance in the Amakhosi senior team but that did not happen, and TS Galaxy pounced. He reunites with his former teammate at Chiefs, Puso Dithejane, who left the Soweto giants for TS Galaxy last season. The other seven players are Veluyeke Zulu, Sedwyn George, Anslin Williams, Matome Mmolai, Mzwandile Dlamini, Siyabonga Nguessan and Onke Moletshe.
