Kohli's Response to Beard Controversy
Kohli's image stirred concern not only because of the visible greying but also because of his past comments. In a lighter moment earlier this year, he had jokingly admitted that when he has to dye his beard every four days, it might be time to "relax" from cricket. That quote resurfaced on social media, adding fuel to the speculation.
But the practice session now suggests otherwise. Kohli's fans can rest assured that their cricket icon is not backing down yet. Instead, he's ramping up preparation ahead of India's important international fixtures later this year.
Expected Return in October 2025
According to reports, Kohli is expected to return to the Indian team in October 2025, during India's One-Day International series against Australia. Alongside Rohit Sharma, who is also slated to return, the series could mark the reunion of two of India's modern-day greats, just in time for the lead-up to the Champions Trophy 2025.
Kohli hasn't featured for India since the T20 World Cup 2024, where India exited earlier than expected. His absence from recent tours was attributed to personal and physical workload management.

AIFF counsel likely to mention ISL impasse to Supreme Court on Monday
New Delhi, Aug 14 (PTI) The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is likely to mention the raging issue concerning the Indian Super League before the Supreme Court on Monday. The apex court has reserved its judgement on draft AIFF constitution and a hearing is scheduled for Monday. Hundreds of Indian and foreign footballers are living in uncertainty as the Masters Rights Agreement (MRA) between Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) and AIFF with regards to Indian Super League is yet to be signed. The clubs have decided not to pay salaries to the players and support staff till the impasse continues. 'Yes we will be attempting to mention but since judgement is reserved we have to see how the judges takes it. If they feel there is merit in appeal, they may ask for an application to be filed. The plight of the players, clubs and football need to be brought to their notice, " a club source told PTI. The AIFF on Wednesday asked the legal counsels of the game's apex body and the ISL clubs to 'hold discussions" on the teams' concerns about the uncertainty over the upcoming season of the top-tier league. Last week, 11 Indian Super League clubs had urged the AIFF to urgently bring the 'current situation" of Indian football, arising out of the uncertainty over ISL's future, to the attention of the Supreme Court before which a case relating to the constitution of the national federation is pending. The ISL clubs, in a letter, said that they will have no option but to seek judicial recourse independently if the AIFF does not act on their request. 'On August 13, the AIFF responded and requested that the legal counsels of the clubs and the federation meet to hold discussions on the matter and decide on further action," the AIFF tweeted. The clubs requested the AIFF to approach the top court a day after the national federation proposed the Super Cup in September to ensure sufficient competitive matches for the clubs after ISL organisers FSDL put a 'pause" on the league due to uncertainty over the renewal of Master Rights Agreement (MRA) it signed with them in 2010. The crisis deepened after ISL organisers FSDL put the 2025-26 season 'on hold" on July 11 due to uncertainty over the renewal of the MRA, prompting at least three clubs to either pause first-team operations or suspend player and staff salaries. India's New Captaincy Puzzle: Can Rohit, Gill, SKY & Pandya Fit Together?

(AP) Currently, India have three different captains for different formats: Gill for Tests, Rohit Sharma for ODIs and Suryakumar Yadav for T20Is. Reports have started to emerge that Gill is being seen as an heir for both Rohit, 38, and Suryakumar, 34, in white-ball cricket eventually. (AP) BCCI are said to favor one captain for all formats to maintain stability and consistency. (PTI) But it won't be as easy as it seems. Or at least, the transition would unlikely be as smooth as the Test one, where Rohit retired before the squad for England was named, and when signs were obvious that he wouldn't be picked as captain. But there will be questions like, 'Why not Shreyas Iyer?', who's arguably the best batter in the side after Rohit and Kohli and has established himself as a shrewd white-ball leader with an IPL title and another final to his name. (AP) T20Is are more complicated. Here, Gill, who last played a 20-over match for India in 2024, isn't nearly as cemented. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma have solidified their spot as openers and Tilak Varma has been excellent at number three. Gill doesn't quite have a place here yet. How can, then, the team give him vice-captaincy and make him Surya's successor? (PTI) For that to happen, the team will have to remove Axar Patel from being Surya's deputy. Armyman Varoon Parmar finishes at 5th place in APGC Mid-Amateur Cship
Tangerang (Indonesia), Aug 14 (PTI) Varoon Parmar, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army, emerged as the best-placed Indian with a solo fifth finish at the inaugural Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Mid-Amateur Championship here on Thursday. Parmar, part of the four-member Indian Golf Union (IGU) squad, carded rounds of 72, 68 and 76 for an even-par 216, also securing runner-up honours in Category C (ages 38-46). The 43-year-old, a winner at the World Military Golf Championships in Kenya this June, took the lead in the second round with an impressive score of four-under 68 at the Graham Marsh-designed Gading Raya Golf Club. Parmar had ended runner-up at the IGU Senior & Mid-Amateur Golf Championship earlier this year. Ranjit Singh logged a tied ninth result at four-over 220 (73-72-75), while Simarjeet Singh finished joint 21st at 14-over 230 (80-76-74).
