'I bought Damson Madder's viral dress on sale and received so many compliments'
Fashion writer Eve Rowlands snapped up the 'viral' Mia Midi Dress in Damson Madder's summer sale for 24% less and it's one of her favourite summer purchases When Damson Madder' s sale launched earlier in the summer, slashing up to 60% off some of its best-selling clothes and accessories, there was only one thing on my wishlist, something I'd been yearning after for some time. That was its viral Mia dress in pink, which had been reduced from £90 to £68 and was the 'IT' dress of last summer (as Grazia confirmed). With its subtle striped pattern and bright pink hue that contrasted its black and white lines, it was a frock perfect for summer as well as the plethora of social events I had on the horizon. And it's safe to say it lived up to its reputation as not only a flattering dress, but a dress for all occasions. Let me tell you why it's one of my favourite summer purchases. Firstly, it is unbelievably comfortable thanks to its shirred bodice that covers the entire top half, from bust to hips as the dress as a drop waist. Mia's striped design also gives the illusion of a slim, elongated silhouette, so there's not so much of a need to worry about eating a big meal and looking bloated. Plus, because it's made with stretchy material, there won't be that discomfort often felt in tight dresses post-dinner. Designed with a maxi, full-length skirt, it also delivers ample swish for dancing - an imperative detail for a wedding. But perhaps one of my favourite elements is the multi-way strap - which comes with the signature DM embroidered at the end. While it is mostly worn as a bandeau dress (from a brief social media search), it comes with two straps attached to the side, which can be tied at the front across the bust, at the back in a bow, or as a halter neck. Each way delivering a unique look. Shop the deal £90 £68 Damson Madder Buy Now on Damson Madder While I've mostly worn it as a bandeau style, I'm waiting for the sunshine to return to crack out the halterneck style. For those wanting a bit more support, Nobody's Child has recently launched a version of its best-selling Starlight dress that is decorated in pink and red stripes. Its puff sleeves and cinched-in waist are elegant and flattering and make for a great wedding guest dress. For shoppers who don't mind the lack of shirring but want a halterneck option, I love this diagonal striped OMNES dress which features orange stripes on a hot pink background. Costing £85, the Elsie Striped Dress in Pink and Orange comes in sizes four to 16, sadly, 18 and 20 are out of stock. Having taken the Damson Madder dress out for a spin at a recent wedding, I can confirm it ticks all the boxes needed to be wedding guest appropriate. It dresses up well, can be danced in, is comfortable enough to indulge in a three-course wedding breakfast, and garners so many compliments. Oh, and it's breathable during a heatwave: it kept me cool enough in 30C heat. On the occasions where I did get a little too warm and inevitably sweated, the dress dried rapidly thanks to its 100% organic cotton design. My advice, however, is to give the dress a wash before taking it for a spin in a heatwave to avoid any potential colour transfer. I say this as the black dye from the dress' stripes transferred a little onto my legs during a relatively warm portion of said wedding. That being said, it didn't affect the look of the dress at all, just my own legs. It was easy enough to get off so it didn't ruin the purchase for me. Plus, due to the style of the material, the skirt can become creased quickly, although it doesn't take long to drop out. Another thing to note is the sizing with the brand can sometimes be a little oversized. I chose my usual size 10, having done some research and while it didn't swamp me and the dress stayed up with no worry of it falling down, I felt it could have been a little more snug. This is an issue I have experienced with other Damson Madder clothing, causing me to send my order back. So, be sure to check the sizing chart before your purchase. Although that being said, this Mia Midi dress exceeded my expectations and made me feel comfortable, confident and cool and I'll certainly be wearing her at both casual and smart occasions for the foreseeable future. Available in sizes eight to 18 currently (with sizes six, 14 and 20 out of stock - at time of writing), the dress is available from Damson Madder on sale for £68.

Trust Me, These Trainers Will Be Everywhere Soon – Shop Before They Sell Out
Every stylish woman I know is an Alo Yoga fan. Truly, madly, deeply. For many chic celebs (including Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber), fashion editors and influencers, it's the ultimate activewear brand, offering the best of everything – from leggings and sports bras to loungewear sets. As it turns out, though, you can improve on perfection, and the brand's latest trainer launch is solid proof. Released this week, the Sunset Sneaker marks the brand's third foray into the sneakerverse. Where the previous Alo Runner and Recovery Mode trainers tapped into performance-based silhouettes, these trainers make for a more fashion-forward addition to the line-up. Leaning into the sleek silhouettes that have been reigning supreme through multiple seasons now (hello, Adidas Sambas and Puma Speedcats), the suede trainers hit all the right minimalist notes. ALO Sunset Sneaker From the Pilates studio to dinner dates, these sleek black trainers will seamlessly slot into any look. Sure, the most appealing thing about the Sunset trainers might be the streamlined silhouette, but that's not the only thing piquing our interest. Wrapped in buttery soft suede, the trainers sit on a recovery foam insole that prioritises comfort. Then there's the neutral colour palette and wide laces that add a timeless finish. And because no one likes those dreaded new-shoe blisters, the heel collar is padded. Available in classic black and beige, no matter which trainer you go for, you'll find that it goes with pretty much anything in your wardrobe. A coffee and croissant run? A weekend brunch with friends? Getting your steps in? Wherever the day is taking you, the Sunset trainers will keep you company. While they look brilliant with jeans, summer dresses, easy leggings and everything in between for a casual flair, I'd also pair them with my tailoring for a subtle contrast at the office. ALO Sunset Sneaker in Sandstone If you're on the hunt for a low-key trainer, this beige pair is perfectly fashion-forward and functional. ALO Runner Designed with a stabilising heel, impact-absorbing midsole, and breathable upper, the ALO Runner is an excellent running shoe. Available in five neutral, as well as six limited-edition pastel shades, you could also style the chunky trainers with your jeans for an off-duty flair. ALO Recovery Mode Sneaker With a more vintage skater silhouette, the Recovery Mode trainers are perfect for casual walks in the park. We love this navy/white limited edition colourway, but there are plenty of others to pick from to suit your style. Main image credits: Alo Yoga Hitanshi Kamdar is a senior commerce writer for Grazia. 'It doesn't belong': Top chef on one thing you should never put in a burger and the supermarket product every cook should have
Every week we interview top chefs from around the UK, hearing about their cheap food hacks, views on the industry and more. This week, we speak to Chris Shaw, head chef at Toklas restaurant on the Strand in London... My favourite restaurant chain is... Pizza Express! I haven't been for a while, but I've got a lot of love for it and so many fond memories there. It's the smell that gets you, of the freshly baked dough balls - so nostalgic. I usually get an American Hot style pizza. It's such a safe haven - it's cheap, cheerful and basically everyone who grew up in London spend their childhood at Pizza Express. My favourite supermarket product is... Maggi liquid seasoning, which you can get from pretty much any major retailer. I put it on everything - some fried rice, a few poached eggs or even in the base of a really good sauce just to lift it a bit. My go-to simple recipe to cook at home is... a puttanesca. I always have those ingredients at home, so normally I don't even need to go to the supermarket. You can just raid your cupboard - find a nice tin of anchovies, a jar of capers and some tinned tomatoes. If you've got parmesan rinds left over and some parsley in the fridge, you can bring it all together quite quickly. That's what I tend to eat in when I get back late from work for a snack. My favourite cheap place to eat where I live is... Dom's Subs for a £10 sandwich. I think they've got a few now but I go to the one on Hackney Road. It's such good value, anywhere between £9 and £14, but these things are absolutely massive, filled up right to the brim. I usually get something like The Grapes, a super spicy sub filled with Thai ground chicken, gem lettuce and some of their house-made mayo, then all the pickles, chillies and crispy shallots you need. If I say come round for dinner... I'm the one looking after you and wanting to be hospitable, so if you turn up empty-handed that's all okay with me... Food is always going to be provided and it's more about having a good time together. The best city in the world to eat in is... Chiang Mai, Thailand. The food was all cheap and delicious. More than that, there's a shared culture of people who care so deeply about the food they eat and time spent eating together. It's not something you really get in London, but in Chiang Mai all the farmers, school kids and people from the city all sit down together and eat in the same places. One restaurant in the UK that's worth blowing out for is... Trinity in Clapham. One of the best meals I've ever had. Lots of people would agree it should really have two stars. Forget the pressure to pick the right bottle of wine... Explore, ask questions and go with what you like. That's where the good stuff is. The toughest moment of my career was... at Emile during COVID and the restaurant closed. When things opened up after the first lockdown, it was a total reality shock to be doing those hours again and on my feet for so long. It really made me think whether this was the career for me. When you work, work, work and then it all comes to a grinding halt, can you really go back to a 60-hour week? It's a big adjustment and you really have to love this lifestyle. Watching restaurants that I loved close down was also so hard. A classic dish that I don't really like is... smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. I love them individually but not combined. Texturally, I don't think they really go together. Also, toad in the hole is something I could never get on board with. My controversial food opinion is... bacon on burgers is the worst thing in the world. It just doesn't belong in there. I love bacon sandwiches, I'd take one any day of the week. Have a good burger with really good beef, but I don't know why anyone would put bacon in there. Most of the time it's chewy, or absolutely incinerated and the whole thing falls out when you try and eat it. Good-quality beef has enough flavour by itself that you don't need to add the bacon! The best chef in the UK is… Cynthia Shanmugalingam from Rambutan, a Sri Lankan restaurant in Borough Market with a focus on open fire cooking. I'm consistently amazed by what she does and a big fan of the food that comes out of her kitchen.
