Doctors launch ‘Scholars Academy' in Wanaparthy
As part of the event, these former students jointly launched 'Scholars Academy,' an initiative by the college management. With over 35 years of experience in Intermediate education, the management is now offering long-term NEET and JEE coaching right in Wanaparthy at an affordable cost, eliminating the need for students to travel to far-off cities and spend lakhs of rupees.
The academy will be run by lecturers with extensive experience in corporate colleges. Coaching will be provided not only after Intermediate but also from the very first year itself, through Regular Inter BiPC + NEET and Regular Inter MPC + JEE streams.
Later, the alumni recalled their fond memories from college and shared nostalgic moments. During the event, the management of Scholars Junior College expressed their pride, stating that the doctors are serving society with dedication and urged them to continue supporting the poor and uphold their profession with compassion.
The reunion witnessed the participation of many renowned doctors, including Dr Vinod (General Physician), Dr Raghuveer Reddy (Anaesthesiologist), Dr Karthikeya Raj, Dr Satyanarayana (General Surgeon), Shankar (Gold Medallist – RMO), Dr Shwetha, Dr Roja, Dr Srinu (Gynaecologist), Dr Kranthi Kiran, Dr L Haritha (Paediatrics), Dr Arshiya, Dr B. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025 was conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) on August 3, 2025, and results were announced on August 19, 2025. From SCB Medical College to NEET PG AIR 1 Dr. Mohapatra, aged 24, completed his MBBS from SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, in 2024 and served his mandatory internship from April 2024 to March 2025 at the same institute. Balancing long hospital shifts and rigorous NEET PG preparation was challenging, but his determination and time management paid off. Orphaned tribal from Gajapati secures MBBS seat
Berhampur: A 21-year-old orphaned tribal student from a remote village in Gajapati district's Mohana block has been selected to study MBBS at the govt-run Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital, Puri. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Nira Mallick of Dumiguda village in Adava panchayat secured admission in the first round of the ongoing medical college admissions after clearing NEET-2025 in his second attempt. He secured a state rank of 3,856 in the general category and 72 in the scheduled tribe (ST) category. Nira's journey to study medicine in a government college was fraught with challenges. After passing Class X with 88% from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in 2019, he decided not to pursue higher studies as he was suffering from tuberculosis. His mother was also afflicted with paralysis, while his elder brother, Pira (27) had moved to Kerala for employment. His father, Sania Mallick, died in 2014. "As I was the only one to look after my mother, I could not take admission after Class X. In 2021, I took admission in Plus II in Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, Gundima in Mohana block, after my elder brother returned home," he said. A few days before the annual Plus II examination, his ailing mother died in 2022. He then decided to take up cultivation and help his brother financially without pursuing higher studies. But luck shone upon him when a group of activists from Bipadara Bandhu, an organisation supporting poor students, approached Nira to continue his studies and prepare for competitive examinations. "They also arranged a seat for me at Aryabhatta, a coaching institute in Berhampur to take coaching for NEET free of cost," he said. "Due to his determination and hard work, he was able to secure a seat in a government medical college, defying his abject poverty," Rout added. While Bipadara Bandhu facilitated his admission to the medical college, Rout said they liaised with another organisation that provides financial assistance to impoverished medical students to study MBBS. "We thanked both the organisations that shaped my career by standing with me during my difficult times," said Nira, who wants to serve the poor after becoming a doctor.
