Pain to power: Sbahle Mpisane reflects on near-fatal car crash
It's been seven years since Sbahle Mpisane survived a near-fatal car crash that left her with lifelong injuries. The daughter of Sbu Mpisane and Shauwn Mkhize, or MaMkhize, crashed her BMW X6 in Durban on 9 August 2018 On 9 August 2018, Sbahle Mpisane crashed her BMW 6 Series into a tree on Margaret Mncadi Avenue in Durban after a night out with her girlfriends. Paramedics pulled Sbahle out of the car using the jaws of life, shortly before her car burst into flames. The personal trainer spent three weeks in a coma and many months in the ICU. She also suffered from amnesia due to her head injury and could not walk after breaking both her legs. Reliving memories of the traumatic incident this week, Sbahle posted on her Instagram Stories: 'The world sees a woman who looks fully healed. They see the polished version of me. But what they don't see is the girl who's been healing every single day since. Imagine how depressing that is. From screaming pain to silent strength. Sbahle Mpisane revealed that the accident has made her physically and mentally stronger. She continued: 'It's hard to put into words, but I'm finally seeing real, steady progress. In my body. In my mindset. In my spirit. And I just want to say: I'm proud of myself. I'm a survivor. I'ma true fighter'. Speaking in an interview with YouTuber Owamie Netshivhazwaulu in 2022, Sbahle Mpisane revealed that she was 'permanently disabled' after losing her ankle bone, which left her wearing a moon boot. She also claimed that her amnesia had left her with lasting memory loss. She said: 'I will never recover fully from my amnesia, medical people will understand, but I recovered with the necessary memories'. In her interview, Sbahle Mpisane also hinted that someone she knows was behind the crash. She added: 'Something happened, someone was the cause of my car accident…I happen to know the person. That person was my friend, but there's nothing to talk about…because I'm alive. 'That person did come forward to say and agree about what happened. I will never reveal the person's name. 'I forgave the person because they didn't do it intentionally. When alcohol is involved, a lot happens'. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Huge reward offered for arrest of cop killer Jabulani Moyo
A nationwide manhunt is underway for Jabulani Thabang Moyo, the suspect in the fatal shooting of two police officers in Roodepoort on Friday, 8 August. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has announced a R150 000 reward for any information leading to his arrest. Moyo is considered 'extremely dangerous' and authorities have urged the public not to approach him under any circumstances. According to police reports, Warrant Officer Vuyisile Sintwa (51) and Sergeant Simon Masenye (45) – both members of a specialised task team – were transporting Moyo back to Boksburg prison following a court appearance when the suspect allegedly opened fire, stole their service firearms, and fled in their unmarked police vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered abandoned nearby. The incident has shocked the country and intensified scrutiny over police security protocols during high-risk transfers. Speaking from the homes of the bereaved families, National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola condemned the killing, calling it 'a declaration of war on the state.' 'This is not just an attack on police, it's an attack on law, order, and the very institutions meant to protect society,' Masemola said. The two officers were both seasoned veterans – Sintwa had 23 years of service, while Masenye had served for 17 years. Their deaths form part of a growing trend of violence against police. Since April, six officers have been killed in targeted attacks, with 27 officers having lost their lives in the past year. The Hawks are currently reviewing surveillance footage from both the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court and a filling station where the officers reportedly stopped before the ambush. Meanwhile, the SAPS also confirmed that a separate R150 000 reward is being offered for information regarding 10 suspects linked to the killing of Sergeant Lawrence Mtshweni, who was gunned down in Mpumalanga during a burglary response within 24 hours of the Roodepoort attack. Police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in capturing Moyo. Gayton, Kenny's shock comments about rape go viral
A clip of Gayton McKenzie confessing to taking advantage of women in his past – which he went as far as classifying as rape – has resurfaced on social media. This follows backlash to the Patriotic Alliance leader's old tweets in which he repeatedly used the K-word. The Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture has faced growing calls for him to resign amid the racial scandal. In a clip posted on the X platform, Gayton McKenzie addressed a crowd at a public event last year. In it, he gave the public a glimpse of his life as a criminal. He said: 'I didnt respect women when I was a gangster. He added: 'Some of you don't know what rape is. When you sleep with a girl when she's drunk, it's rape, because you don't have her consent. 'We used to make women drunk in order to sleep with them, but that's rape.' Gayton's comments had many South Africans reeling in shock. @ThisIsColbert: 'Minister Gayton McKenzie says he used to rape women? Is the Patriotic Alliance president a rapist? Does Cyril Ramaphosa know about this?' @TheeBLCKBARBI: 'This guy needs to be in jail asap' @tau_molebogeng: 'What a disgusting person.' In 2015, Gayton McKenzie appeared on SABC's Morning Live, in which he admitted to having a philandering past. The politician was invited to speak about his book titled The Uncomfortable Truth. The book was written from the former convict's experiences with love, casual sex, and relationships. 'I've got eight kids with six different women. Those were in my player days…in my very naughty days', he told a surprised Leanne. Gayton added that the book was filled with words of advice for women, including his three daughters. He said, 'I want to leave them much more than money. I want them to be different. I don't want them to be played like I played women.' Like Gayton McKenzie, his Patriotic Alliance co-founder's old tweets have also recently resurfaced. In a few instances, the 'Sushi King' made derogatory comments about women. Some of them hinted at taking advantage of intoxicated women. Others, Kenny threatened to sleep with the wives of his critics, including Mmusi Maimane. In an interview with Metro FM's Phat Joe, Kenny – a former high school teacher – confessed to sleeping with underage girls. 'That's statutory rape', shocked co-host Pearl Thusi exclaimed.
