Ah Long crackdown: Four held for paint-splashing in 3 states
Previous Next
GEORGE TOWN: Police believe they have solved 33 cases of paint-splashing across three states — Penang, Perak and Kedah — with the arrest of four men.
State police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the Penang and Perak Criminal Investigation departments launched an operation against Ah Long syndicates, suspected of carrying out unlicensed money-lending, yesterday.
He said the syndicate was also believed to be involved in multiple incidents of criminal mischief involving splashing of paint at houses in the states.
"The operation resulted in the arrest of four men yesterday, aged between 34 and 42, in separate raids around the state.
"The four are believed to be actively involved in criminal mischief cases related to unlicensed money-lending involving both local and online syndicates.
"Interrogation of the suspects led to them confessing to being involved in 33 cases of paint-splashing across Penang, Perak and Kedah," he said in a statement today.
Hamzah said an examination of the seized mobile phones revealed 33 addresses linked to paint-splashing incidents, suspected to have been done by the suspects.
Police also seized several pieces of evidence in the operation, including a Toyota Vios, mobile phones, Touch 'n Go cards, debt repayment threat notes, fake vehicle registration plates, face masks, cans of red paint and cans of thinner.
The case is probed under Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing mischief.
Police advised Malaysians to lodge a report if they were harassed or received any form of threats from Ah Long syndicates to enable action to be taken.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)'s tactical squad has arrived at the residence of a Tan Sri in connection with an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of sukuk funds meant for a highway project in the Klang Valley. Four vehicles from the Anti-Corruption Tactical Squad (ACTS) were seen entering the property in Bandar Tasik Selatan, including two white vans, a Nissan Grand Livina and a Honda City at 10.50am on Thursday (June 12). The ACTS officers were seen fully armed with firearms. Earlier this morning, MACC officers continued the questioning of the Tan Sri over alleged sukuk fund misuse in a highway project.
