China discovers 38 new mineral deposits this year
The ministry also highlighted major breakthroughs in the exploration of important mineral resources.
Among the most significant finds was China's first super-large uranium deposit, located in Heilongjiang province in the northeast, according to China Daily.
In Xinglong county, North China's Hebei province, newly added rubidium resources amounted to 3.37 million metric tonnes, achieving a super-large scale and strengthening China's dominant position in rubidium ore.
In Longhua county, also in Hebei, the newly added cobalt resources reached 27,000 tonnes, reaching a large scale.
Songtao county in Southwest China's Guizhou province saw the addition of manganese resources totalling 22.85 million tonnes, reaching a large scale. In Tekes county, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, the newly added gold resources amounted to 81 tonnes, with a cumulative find approaching 100 tonnes, representing a major breakthrough on a super-large scale.
The ministry said most mineral exploration targets under the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) have already been achieved ahead of schedule.
In addition, the national non-oil and gas mineral exploration investment reached 7 billion yuan ($975 million), a year-on-year increase of 23.9 percent, it said.
It highlighted a growing enthusiasm among enterprises to engage in mineral exploration. Social funds invested 3.6 billion yuan, marking an almost 30 percent year-on-year increase and constituting nearly half of the country's total investment. Central and local financial funds combined reached 3.6 billion yuan, reflecting a 20 percent year-on-year increase.
In terms of mineral types, exploration investments have surged in minerals such as tin, tungsten, copper and phosphate ores, as well as bauxite, showing year-on-year increases of over 50 percent. Exploration investments in coal, lead-zinc, molybdenum, gold, graphite and other minerals have also experienced varying degrees of growth.
China also stepped up the issuance of exploration rights, granting a record 581 permits for strategic minerals in 2024. In the first half of 2025, 318 additional rights were issued.

As part of its engagement efforts, RSDI recently hosted a high-level panel examining the possible impact of US President Donald Trump's return on US-China dynamics and regional security frameworks. Discussions pointed out that the renewed Trump presidency would open new avenues for US–East Asia cooperation, particularly in sectors like semiconductors and renewable energy. Building on its foundation of dialogue and collaboration, RSDI is expanding its impact through a series of pilot initiatives designed to deepen regional security cooperation. 'In 2025, we are set to launch the Annual Middle East Security (AMES) Conference, a collaboration with TRENDS Advisory and Research. Then in 2026, we plan to launch the Middle East Defence Outlook Conference (MEDOC) as an avenue for researchers, policymakers, decision-makers to convene and discuss defence modernisation in the region.'

ADNOC L&S JV receives first Very Large Ethane Carrier in major fleet expansion
ADNOC Logistics and Services plc (ADNOC L&S / the Company) today announced that AW Shipping, its joint venture with Wanhua Chemical Group, has taken delivery of Gas Yongjiang, the first of nine state-of-the-art Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs) from Jiangnan Shipyard in China. The vessel will commence operations under a 20-year time charter agreement. The remaining eight VLECs are scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2027. Upon full deployment, the fleet is projected to generate approximately $4 billion (AED14.7 billion) in revenue through long-term contracts totaling 180 years. Once all nine vessels are delivered, AW Shipping will operate one of the world's largest VLEC fleets. Captain Abdulkareem Al Masabi, Chairman of AW Shipping and CEO of ADNOC L&S, stated, "The delivery of Gas Yongjiang, the first VLEC to join the AW Shipping fleet, marks a significant milestone in our fleet expansion and entry into the global ethane shipping market. The naming and delivery ceremony of both vessels was attended by senior executives from ADNOC L&S, Wanhua Chemical Group, and Jiangnan Shipyard. Sharifa Al Mulla, the ceremonial sponsor of both vessels, is the first Emirati female officer to serve aboard the ADNOC L&S commercial shipping fleet.
