A's third baseman Gio Urshela will head to the injured list with a strained hamstring
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Athletics third baseman Gio Urshela will head to the injured list after straining his left hamstring in a loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday.
Urshela left the game in the sixth inning with the injury and manager Mark Kotsay said Urshela will undergo an MRI and head to the injured list. The A's were defeated 10-5 for their ninth straight loss.
Urshela went 1 for 2 with a bases-loaded walk in the game. He is batting .224 with no homers and 13 RBIs in 32 games this season.

Unfortunately for he and the Blue Jays, an apparent leg injury forced his exit on Saturday. Advertisement Shortly after Varsho was removed the Blue Jays announced an official update, revealing Varsho exited due to left hamstring discomfort. Injuries have cost Varsho time already this season. The 2024 Gold Glove Award winner missed time earlier in the year due to right shoulder surgery recovery, but has returned in good form. Saturday's injury is obviously unrelated to Varsho's shoulder injury, but presents a problem for the Blue Jays if it forces him to miss an extended time. Not only will the team miss his Gold Glove defense, but the left-handed hitter has been among the team's best run producers since returning. (AP) — David Ayala scored in stoppage time to give the Timbers a 2-1 victory over St. Louis City on Sunday, extending Portland's unbeaten streak at home to eight games. Ayala's goal came in the second minute of second-half stoppage time off a corner kick. After a scoreless first half in temperatures that soared into the 90s Fahrenheit, Akil Watts scored in the 50th minute to put St. Louis City (3-8-6) ahead. Five minutes later, Antony fooled a defender and put his shot from atop the box into the upper far corner to pull the Timbers (7-4-6) even. It was Antony's team-leading sixth goal of the season. The match was City's second under David Critchley, who took over after the team fired Olof Mellberg. St. Louis beat the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 in Critchley's debut to end its 11-match regular-season winless streak.
