Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], June 15 (ANI): Punjab governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Sunday expressed grief over the recent AI 171 plane crash in Ahmedabad stating that incident has shaken the whole country and world.
Kataria said that the reason for the mishap will be revealed after an investigation.
'This incident has shaken India and the entire world. How it happened will be known only after an investigation... This is the first time I have seen such a big incident', Kataria told reporters here.
On June 12, the AI 171 Boeing Dreamliner flight, which was bound for London's Gatwick airport crashed soon after taking off resulting in the deaths of all but one of the 242 people onboard. The victims included former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
Gujarat State administration has arranged for the death certificates of those who died in the recent Air India plane crash to be issued directly at the hospital, sparing grieving families the need to visit multiple offices, Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner Banchha Nidhi Pani said today.
Further, Pani said, that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, which is probing the crash has successfully retrieved the aircraft's black box.
'The black box had to be recovered. The black box is either in the front or in the back. Fortunately, in this case, the tail end (of the plane) was not destroyed, and it was stuck in the first building. The AAIB team requested that cranes, labourers, and engineers be provided to recover the black box. After this, the Black box was recovered,' the Ahmedabad Municipal commissioner said.
'After that, we ensured that people should not go to offices for death certificates. A single-window system was created, and the death certificates were issued then and there,' he said.
Authorities have begun the process of identifying the bodies of the deceased from the charred wreckage with the help of DNA and blood samples provided by relatives. Earlier today, Ahmedabad Additional Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Dr. Rajnish Patel said a total of 31 DNA samples have been identified and 12 bodies have been handed over to their respective family members.
'The bodies of 31 DNAs have been matched. 12 bodies have been handed over to their respective family members. We are waiting for others to come and collect the remains of their relatives', he told reporters. (ANI)

"Precise striking capability of our brave soldiers has razed terrorist hideouts to ground": Amit Shah on Operation Sindoor
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 15 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that precise striking capability carried out by the Indian armed forces inside Pakistan territory completely destroyed terrorists hideouts during Operation Sindoor. Amit Shah made these remarks at a UP Police recruitment ceremony where more than 60,244 Civil Police Constables received appointment letters. 'Through Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Modi sent a message to the world that the blood of Indians shall not be spilled, and anyone who dares to do so will face severe punishment. Precise striking capability of our brave soldiers has razed terrorist hideouts to the ground, marking the beginning of a strong new India,' Amit Shah said. Recalling the India's response following 'nefarious' attacks in Uri, Pulwama, and Poonch, Amit Shah said, 'Modi government responded to Uri attack with a surgical strike, to Pulwama attack with an airstrike, and to Poonch attack with Operation Sindoor, destroying the terrorists' headquarters.' Operation Sindoor, initiated on May 7, 2025, in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians showcased a calibrated, tri-services response that embodied precision, professionalism, and purpose. Operation Sindoor was conceived as a punitive and targeted campaign to dismantle the terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan. This multi-dimensional operation effectively neutralized terrorist threats, deterred Pakistani aggression, and firmly enforced India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. Police have filed a case against Kaushik Pathak, the Accountable Manager, and Vikas Tomar, the Manager of Aryan Aviation, under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 10 of the Aircraft Act, they said. Section 105 pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, while Section 10 deals with penalties for violating aircraft safety regulations. Aryan Aviation's Bell 407 helicopter operating in the 'Shri Kedarnath Ji - Aryan Helipad, Guptkashi' sector crashed near Gaurikund, according to a statement from the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Jammu and Kashmir: Raids in Poonch to bust terror links
Representative image (ANI) JAMMU: J&K police conducted raids Sunday at eight locations in Jammu's Poonch to dismantle infrastructure of terror and thwart attempts by Pakistan-based operatives to use locals and plot attacks. Officials said the searches covered locations in Sawjian and adjoining areas in Poonch, targeting homes of people associated with Pakistan-based terrorists. 'J&K police launched the simultaneous raids as part of a crackdown on Pakistan-based terrorists to use contacts for motivating gullible youth to carry out subversive activities in the region, disturbing peace and harmony,' an official said. The raids focused on gathering leads about cross-border connections and support systems for terrorists. 'The operation is part of ongoing efforts to tighten security and check efforts to revive militancy in the region,' the official said. Earlier on June 4, similar raids were mounted at 60 locations in the frontier district to smoke out suspected OverGround Workers (OGWs) who provide logistical and other support to terrorists. Security agencies believe that terrorists can't survive long without the help of OGWs. On May 18, nearly one-and-a-half dozen places were searched, mostly houses of OGWs and relatives of terrorists operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like She Found THIS Chat on Her Husband's Phone and Vanished Overnight medalmerit Learn More Undo These searches were not confined only to Poonch but also extended to the neighbouring border district of Rajouri. On November 25 last year, multiple raids in Rajouri as part of terror probes led police to claim seizures of incriminating material and documents. The cases pertained to some OGWs conniving with proscribed outfits such as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) to organise and execute terror-related activities, police said.
