Hyderabad, Aug 18 (PTI) Press Registrar General of India (PRGI) Yogesh Baweja on Monday said the Press Sewa portal has been introduced as a single-window solution to simplify the registration process.
This initiative aims to enhance transparency, accelerate approvals, and improve the ease of doing business for publishers, he said at a workshop titled 'Vartalap' addressing the issues faced by publishers, organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Hyderabad, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, an official release said.
PIB Hyderabad Additional Director General Shruti Patil highlighted that this was the first interactive session of its kind in Telangana, designed to clarify publishers' queries and provide guidance on the new Press and Registration of Periodicals Act (PRP Act).
She also announced that PIB Hyderabad, with the support of PRGI, would soon establish a dedicated helpline for publishers.
Deputy Press Registrar Ashutosh Mohle explained that the entire registration process has transitioned online since March 2024.
He stated that applications would be deemed approved if there is no response within 60 days and emphasized the importance of publishers avoiding agents and using the PRGI portal directly.
PIB officials, including Deputy Director Manas Krishna Kanth, along with Media and Communication Officers Gayathri and Shivacharan Reddy, and officials from I&PR, publishers from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh participated in the interactive session, the release added. PTI VVK VVK ROH

India leads the world in AI-driven leadership transformation: Microsoft report

Agency: New Delhi, Aug 20 (PTI) Indian leaders are moving with confidence and urgency to integrate AI across their organisations, with 93 per cent of those surveyed intending to use AI agents to extend workforce capabilities over the next 12-18 months, according to Microsoft's 2025 Work Trend Index. Outlining the country-specific findings from the index, it said that India's most forward-looking organisations, what Microsoft calls Frontier Firms, are leading the charge in reimagining work. 'These firms are not just adopting AI; they're redesigning operations around human-agent collaboration," the company said in a release. With 59 per cent of leaders already using AI agents to automate workstreams or business processes across entire teams, the shift from traditional hierarchies to fluid, adaptive structures is well underway, it said. 'This transformation is enabling organisations to scale with agility, speed, and purpose," it said. Puneet Chandok, President, Microsoft India and South Asia, noted that India is firmly in its AI-first era, with AI agility accelerating at an unprecedented pace. 'We're seeing a workforce that's not just adopting AI, but embedding it into the fabric of everyday work — leveraging its speed, precision, and 24/7 availability to drive meaningful transformation. Leaders are scaling operations with AI emerging as a true thought partner, fuelling creativity, fast-tracking decisions, and redefining collaboration," he said. This shift is turning AI's promise into proof and profitability-powered by productivity, innovation, and a fundamentally new way of working, he pointed out. The sample size of the survey was 31000 participants across 31 countries. The findings were part of the global WTI survey. AI-powered ponzi scheme busted, two held in Rs 850 cr fraud

Agency: Hyderabad, Aug 20 (PTI) A large-scale organised financial fraud operated through advanced AI-powered investment platforms and Ponzi scheme tactics through which over 3,000 individuals across multiple states were 'cheated", was dismantled here with the arrest of two persons, police said on Wednesday. The accused lured investors with false promises of steady monthly returns based on deceptive stock market prediction software, they said. In the investment fraud, a total amount of Rs 850.59 crores was collected from 3,164 victims across multiple states during 2022–25 with fraudulent retention of Rs 232.36 crores, a release from Cyberabad Police Commissionerate said. An amount of Rs 618.23 crore was partially returned. A case was registered on July 29 and two persons—Director of a company and an employee — were arrested in Hyderabad on August 19, it said. Four fraudulent entities (Primary Companies) and eight fraudulent websites were identified, police said adding the fraud network involved over 20 consultants and agents across major cities with technical developers and website administrators part of it. On the modus operandi, police said the accused projected fake NSE/BSE certifications and organised investment seminars in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and maintained premium offices to project legitimacy. They targeted middle-class families, retired individuals, and working professionals in fraudulent investment operations and promised 7 per cent monthly returns through fake AI-based predictions. Fake dashboards displaying fabricated profits were designed and they adopted a Ponzi structure with 20-30 per cent for limited trading, 40–50 per cent was used to pay earlier investors, and the balance 'siphoned" for personal gain, police said. The accused managed 21 mule bank accounts across different banks and converted illicit deposits into real estate, gold, and luxury vehicles. They also operated international laundering channels, including Dubai-based operations. The accused systematically deleted digital records, threatened victims who attempted to complain and shut down websites under regulatory scrutiny, they added. Two vehicles, 11 laptops, three mobile phones, and flats were seized among others. PTI VVK VVK ROH view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. TN govt achieves 77 per cent conversion rate on MoUs: Minister Rajaa

Chennai, Aug 20 (PTI) Over 77 per cent of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) signed with various multi-nationals since 2021 have been successfully converted into tangible projects, State Minister TRB Rajaa said here on Wednesday. The Industries Minister also said nearly 80 per cent of the 631 pacts from the Global Investors Meet held in January 2024 have been 'grounded" and are 'progressing well." Rajaa further said Chief Minister M K Stalin is scheduled to visit Germany and the UK in September to attract more investments to the state. Briefing reporters, the DMK leader said the government achieved over 77 per cent conversion rate on all the MoUs that were signed since 2021 with various companies. The ruling DMK government assumed office on May 7, 2021. 'We have hit a record. We have achieved more than 77 per cent of conversion rate on all the investment MoUs that were signed since 2021, up from the 72 per cent declared earlier in the assembly session. This is the highest conversion rate Tamil Nadu has ever seen. No other State has reached such a target," he said. Conversion rate refers to the process in which companies conduct groundbreaking ceremonies, commence construction activities and later begin commercial production at a factory post signing of an MoU with the State government. To a query, he said the total value of the investments committed by the companies in Tamil Nadu since 2021 was in the range of about Rs 10.32 lakh crore. During the three-day conference held in January 2024, Tamil Nadu received investment proposals to the tune of Rs 6.64 lakh crore from several companies, which would see creation of 26 lakh jobs in the state. According to Rajaa, a global conference of TN Rising Europe has been planned and it would witness the participation of the Chief Minister later next month. 'We are also preparing for the big international edition of TN Rising Europe with Chief Minister leading the delegation to Germany and the UK." Aimed at attracting investments to the State, the DMK government conducted a region-specific maiden edition of TN Rising Investors Conclave in Tuticorin on August 4. During this event, the government signed 41 MoUs with various companies, which committed investments worth Rs 32,553.85 crore. The MoUs would generate 49,845 jobs in the State. Taking cognisance of the success of the maiden edition, the Minister said two more regional investors conclaves under TN Rising have been planned, and they would be held in Hosur and Coimbatore. 'We are not slowing down, in fact shifting gears to move faster. Following the resounding success in Tuticorin, two more TN Rising Regional Investor conclaves have been confirmed. Hosur and later in Coimbatore," he said. A zonal-wise TN Rising conference was also planned to be conducted in future, he added.
