Ozzy Osbourne's last gig with Black Sabbath netted £33m, figures show
During the Villa Park sjow, Ozzy performed some of his biggest hits while seated on a black throne. He was then joined by the full original Sabbath line-up, with the four members not seen on stage together for 20 years.University researchers said the concert contributed £33.8m in gross economic output across the UK, £27.6m of which was retained in the West Midlands.Dr Matt Lyons, who conducted the analysis, said: "As regional economists from the University of Birmingham, we thought we would do our bit to honour Ozzy's legacy by estimating the economic impact of his last gig.
"The impact of the Prince of Darkness obviously goes far beyond the financial impact his gigs and TV shows have netted. "Ozzy is a global legend, and his gift of incredible music, and now his final economic impact, will go on to benefit his home city far into the future."The 42,000 tickets for the concert sold out in minutes, with 20% purchased by international fans, paying prices ranging from £197.50 to £834.To estimate the economic impact of the concert, the researchers used the SEIM-UK (Socio-Economic Impact Model for the UK) model, a methodology used previously to estimate the impact of major events such as the Birmingham-hosted Commonwealth Games in 2022.The concert would be Ozzy's last public performance with his family announcing his death on 22 July. Thousands of fans later lined Broad Street in Birmingham as Ozzy's funeral parade made its way to the Black Sabbath bench. His coffin was followed by his family who looked at the floral tributes that were placed at the site, after stepping out of their funeral car.

Iconic James Bond star says he will consider RETURNING for new 007 film... as role is still up for grabs
The role of James Bond is still up for grabs, but a familiar face may now be open to returning to the franchise. Pierce Brosnan, who portrayed the spy in four films, has revealed he would consider reprising his role - depending on what director Denis Villeneuve has in store for the British secret agent. In an interview with Radio Times, Pierce, 72, was asked if he would 'do Bond again - is it time for a senior citizen 007?' 'My wife Keely [Shaye Smith] and I have been listening to the drumbeat of expectation of who's going to be the next James Bond,' the Irish actor replied. 'There are many great candidates out there, and I'm sure they're going to make it a spectacle of delight. I don't think anyone wants to see a craggy, 72-year-old Bond, but if [next 007 director Denis] Villeneuve had something up his sleeve I would look at it in a heartbeat. 'Why not? It's great entertainment. It could be lots of laughs. Bald caps, prosthetics… who knows?' Glen Powell has insisted he 'should not' be in the running to play James Bond. The Top Gun: Maverick actor, 36, has been among those tipped to take over from Daniel Craig as the suave spy, but he feels that the role should go to an 'authentic Brit' rather than an American star. Glen, best known for his roles in Twisters and Anyone But You, told The Hollywood Reporter: 'I'm Texan. A Texan should not play James Bond. 'My family and I joke around, I can play Jimmy Bond, but I should not be playing James Bond. Get an authentic Brit for that job. That's who belongs in that tuxedo.' While Glen has ruled himself out of playing James Bond, he did confirm he and Sydney Sweeney are 'still talking' about making a sequel to Anyone But You. In May, the actor sparked inevitable speculation that he has already accepted the role by signing a commercial deal with Omega - the official watch provider for the Bond franchise. Bets placed on Taylor-Johnson to become the latest star 'with a license to kill' subsequently surged by a whopping three times compared to the previous fortnight, according to Oddschecker. Taylor Johnson has previously played it cool when asked about the possibility of him becoming Bond, telling Esquire: 'It's not really for me to stay anything.'
