Weekend Today's Belinda Russell shares emotional message for co-host Roz Kelly after she lost coveted role to Danika Mason in reshuffle at Nine
Weekend Today's Belinda Russell has shared a heartfelt tribute to her longtime colleague and co-host Roz Kelly following her abrupt departure from the Nine Network.
Taking to Instagram on Saturday, the breakfast TV presenter posted two photos marking their final bulletin together.
In one image the pair are seen pulling silly faces on set with newsreader Mark Burrows, and a second close-up selfie of the smiling duo behind the news desk.
'Last news bulletin together (hopefully not forever). Miss you already,' Russell captioned the post alongside a broken chain emoji and red love heart.
Roz's farewell comes just weeks after the popular presenter resigned from her role at Nine, ending a significant chapter with the network.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
Her exit follows a major reshuffle behind the scenes, after Kelly was overlooked for the high-profile Today show sports presenter gig - a role that ultimately went to rising star Danika Mason.
The decision came after former sports anchor Alex Cullen was sensationally axed in January after it emerged he accepted a $50,000 payment from controversial businessman Adrian 'Lambo Guy' Portelli.
While many assumed Kelly was a frontrunner for the role, it's understood she was edged out after Mason received a glowing recommendation from none other than Peter V'landys, the influential ARL Commission boss.
Mason's involvement in Nine's NRL coverage during their glitzy Las Vegas broadcast in March gave her an opportunity to rub shoulders with major league and media executives - and her efforts seemingly paid off.
The move marks a major coup for Mason, who is currently in a relationship with former Bulldogs player Liam Knight, and is seen as one of Nine's rising talents in the sporting space.
Meanwhile, sources claim Kelly has not yet secured a new role following her departure, sparking speculation about what's next for the seasoned sports journalist.
Roz, who is married to South African cricketer Morne Morkel and shares two children with the sportsman, lived in Cape Town for five years, but moved back to Sydney following her husband's retirement from the sport.
Today host Karl Stefanovic announced live on-air that Cullen had left the network following the incident with Portelli.
'As most of you are well aware, our colleague Alex Cullen has not been on air with us this past week,' a solemn Stefanovic told viewers at the time.
'There has been widespread reporting on the circumstances surrounding this - what I can say is that last night, Alex and Nine agreed that he would finish with the network.
'Alex has, of course, been part of the Today family for five years now, he's always ready with a smile and a laugh, and without hesitation speaking for all of us here, we can say that we are going to miss him terribly, that's for sure.'
'Alex is a terrific fella, what you see is what you get and he has been a great mate to all of us over these years and we wish Alex, his wife Bonnie and his beautiful kids all the very best for the future,' Stefanovic continued.
A Nine spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia: 'Nine has agreed with Today presenter and journalist Alex Cullen that he will finish with the network following a review into a recent incident.'
The scandal kicked off when Portelli, 35, had grown tired of his long-used nickname 'Mr Lambo' and offered the cash reward to the first person to use his new moniker 'McLaren Man' on air, with Cullen obliging on the Today show just over a week after.
The Block entrepreneur then posted what appeared to be a bank transfer of $50,000 to the presenter on Instagram.
Accepting cash, gifts or benefits to undermine journalistic independence, and improperly using a journalistic position for personal gain, are both breaches of the journalism code of ethics as defined by the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance union.
The ill-advised stunt led to Cullen being suspended by Nine and he did not appear on the show while the network investigated the payment. The sum has been donated to charity by Portelli.

Bayern Munich 10 (TEN) Auckland City 0: Germans demolish team of forklift drivers and estate agents but Kane draws blank
BAYERN absolutely schooled a part-time Auckland team containing teachers and uni students - even though goals-master Harry Kane did not net. In embarrassing scenes for the competitiveness of this controversially-expanded Fifa tournament, Bundesliga champions Munich were six up by half-time. 3 3 That was thanks to braces from Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise, along with strikes from Sacha Boey and Thomas Muller. Kane surely could not believe he had not got in on the action as he was subbed off just after the hour following a rare blank. But his replacement Jamal Musiala scored a hat-trick in the final 22 minutes before Muller made it TEN. The gap in class in Cincinnati was farcical as Bayern bulldozed a side containing estate agents, sales reps, barbers and a forklift-truck driver. New Zealand minnows Auckland qualified for the Club World Cup by being among the highest-ranked Oceanic sides in the last four years. But their amateur players had to use up annual leave in their day-jobs to take part in the tournament. While left-back Nathan Lobo, 22, will be sitting a university exam from his hotel room during the competition. It must have felt like a holiday for Bayern though as they dominated, netting their first through a Coman header on six minutes. The France star then turned provider to tee up defender Sacha Boey who drilled home on 18 minutes, sparking a three-goal rush in as many minutes. On 20 minutes, Olise had his fifth goal in five games by slotting in a Muller cross after England captain Kane had miskicked the delivery in the middle. Bayern Munich leave in new kit for Club World Cup Sixty seconds later it was four when Coman held off two defenders to find the corner. Olise supplied the cross for Muller to make it five just before the break - and there was still time for the ex-Crystal Palace man to find the corner in style ahead of the interval. Kane was subbed off before he could add his name to the scorers' list. But his replacement Musiala curled home a stunning seventh, won and converted a penalty for number eight and then pounced on a goalie error to roll in a ninth for his treble. Veteran Muller notched for double figures late on for, unsurprisingly, the biggest win in this tournament's history. 3

Bayern Munich set Club World Cup record with 10-0 thrashing of Auckland City
Bayern Munich put 10 goals past part-time Auckland City FC to record the biggest ever Club World Cup victory, including from the previous format. The German giants were 6-0 up by half time, before Jamal Musiala came off the bench to score a second-half hat-trick and the departing Thomas Muller took Bayern to double figures late on. The Group B fixture was expected to be a huge mismatch, given the enormous gulf between the teams, with amateurs Auckland City the only non-professional side to be taking part in the inaugural 32-team Club World Cup. While Auckland City have won the last four Oceania Champions League titles, and 11 of the last 13, the New Zealand club do not employ their players full time and many have had to take annual leave to travel to the United States. And while Auckland City have qualified for several other Club World Cup tournaments, their journey has usually come to an end in the first-round of the old format, and before playing either champions of Europe and South America. But the new group stage means Auckland City are guaranteed to play three matches and, after their thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich, they will also face Benfica and Boca Juniors before travelling back to New Zealand. New Zealand does not have a professional men's football league, with the top two teams in the country - Wellington Phoenix and Auckland FC - playing their matches in Australia's A-League. But because Australia play in the Asian Football Confederation, both Wellington Phoenix and Auckland FC are ineligible to play in the Oceania Champions League, leaving Auckland City FC to dominate. The Navy Blues defeated Hekari United, of Papua New Guinea, to win their latest OFC Champions League title and qualify for the newly expanded Club World Cup tournament. Staff from Auckland City also revealed that flying the squad out to the United States will cost the club more money than it makes in a year - but they will be rewarded by Club World Cup prize money. By contrast, five-time European champions Bayern Munich fielded a strong starting line-up that included Harry Kane and Michael Olise. The value Bayern's squad in transfer fees was estimated at £770m, around 700 times that of Auckland City's squad value of just over £1.2m. With that in mind, Auckland must have been fearing the worst when they trailed 6-0 at half time, but could not keep the scoreline to single-figures after Musiala resumed the scoring. The victory surpassed Al Hilal's 6-1 win over Al Jazira in 2021.
