Illegal shops, ramps & sheds razed as Gurgaon intensifies crackdown on squatters
Five joint MCG–GMDA teams conducted simultaneous three-day drives at key locations, including Church Gate, Subhash Chowk, Candor 47 and Nirwana Country.
Illegal extensions, roadside stalls, and structures were dismantled, clearing key stretches for public use.
Another major cleanup on Dhanwapur–Surya Vihar Road cleared illegal sheds, extended ramps from 100 shops, and dozens of handcarts, some allegedly linked to liquor and drug peddling, earning public praise for improving women's safety. Similar crackdowns happened at Chowk–Krishna Chowk in Sector 5, Mayfield Garden, and the old Bus Stand area.
Announcements were made in Sector 23 market, Dhanwapur Road, Sector 4 market, Jyoti Park Road, and along Bhondsi–Sohna Road, asking shopkeepers and vendors to voluntarily vacate encroached public spaces or face demolition.
