Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], May 22 (ANI): Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Thursday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for accelerating Kerala's railway development under the Amrit Bharat Scheme.
In his X post, Chandrasekhar highlighted that the Modi government is transforming Kerala's rail network, from the launch of Vande Bharat trains to the construction of overbridges.
'Grateful to PM Narendra Modi ji for fast-tracking Kerala's railway development. Through the Amrit Bharat Scheme, 35 railway stations across the state are being upgraded with world-class amenities at a cost of Rs 2,560 crore. Additionally, the Centre allocated Rs 3,042 crore for Kerala's railway projects in the latest Union Budget,' he said.
'From the launch of Vande Bharat trains to construction of overbridges and doubling of tracks, the Modi Government is driving a holistic transformation of Kerala's rail network, bringing the vision of a #VikasitaKeralam closer to reality,' Chandrasekhar said.

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, stations have been upgraded with modern amenities to enhance the commuter experience.
Meanwhile, in line with his vision to strengthen rail infrastructure, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate 103 redeveloped Amrit stations across 86 districts in 18 states and Union Territories today. These projects have been developed at a cost of over Rs 1,100 crore.
A statement from the PMO said the redeveloped Amrit stations across India integrate modern infrastructure with cultural heritage, passenger-centric amenities, including those for Divyangjan, and sustainable practices to enhance the travel experience.
The redevelopment of these stations aims to enhance the travel experience for passengers while advancing the broader vision of transforming Indian Railways into a world-class transportation service.
Amrit Stations being inaugurated in Maharashtra are Amgaon, Chanda Fort, Chinchpokli, Devlali, Dhule, Kedgaon, Lasalgaon, Lonand Junction, Matunga, Murtizapur Junction, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Itwari Junction, Parel, Savda, Shahad, Wadala Road.
In Uttar Pradesh, Balrampur, Bareilly city, Bijnor, Fatehabad, Gola Gokarannath, Goverdhan, Govindpuri, Hathras City, Idgah Agra Junction, Izzatnagar, Karchana, Mailani Junction, Pokhrayan, Ramghat Halt, Saharanpur Junction, Siddharthnagar, Suraimanpur, Swaminarayan Chhapia, and Ujhani will be inaugurated.
Tamil Nadu stations Chidambaram, Kulitturai, Mannargudi, Polur, Samalpatti, Srirangam, St Thomas Mount, Tiruvannamalai, and Vriddhachalam Junction are also part of the Amrit Bharat Station scheme, which the PM will inaugurate.
The PM will also flag off the Bikaner-Mumbai express train today. (ANI)

The broader goal, announced jointly by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump in February, is to finalise a multi-sector Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) by September–October 2025. The deal aims to more than double bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030 from the current level of $191 billion. India is also pushing for full exemption from the 26% reciprocal tariff currently imposed on domestic goods as part of the ongoing talks. Last month, India's chief negotiator, Special Secretary Rajesh Agrawal from the Department of Commerce, held a four-day round of discussions in Washington with his US counterpart. Goyal also travelled to the US capital to provide political impetus to the talks. The US has remained India's largest trading partner for the fourth consecutive year in FY 2024–25, with total trade valued at $131.84 billion. The US accounts for about 18% of India's total goods exports, 6.22% of imports, and 10.73% of overall merchandise trade.

Abdullah visited the Chenab Bridge and reviewed arrangements for the visit of PM Modi on Thursday. Taking to X, the Jammu and Kashmir CM wrote, 'Visited the tallest railway bridge in the world, The Chenab Bridge, to review arrangements for the visit of the Hon PM @narendramodi ji tomorrow. Tomorrow is a landmark day for J&K when, finally, the valley will be connected to the rest of the country by a railway link to be inaugurated at the hands of the Hon PM.' He also shared multiple images and videos of the Chenab bridge. Along with Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Omar Abdullah also inspected the Katra railway station and the Vande Bharat train, which will be flagged off by PM Modi on Friday. He said, as quoted by ANI, "If I tell you that I have been waiting for this moment for a long time, it will still not be enough. This rail project began when I was in the 7th or 8th class. Now, even my children have started working after completing school and college. We will ensure successful Amarnath Yatra," he added. The world's tallest railway bridge, Chenab Bridge, stands 359 meters above mean sea level. It will connect Jammu and Srinagar. At an estimated cost of over ₹ 43,000 crore, the USBRL project involved laying out ballastless tracks over bridges and tunnels, spanning deep gorges. Ninety per cent of the route was traversed over 943 bridges and 36 main tunnels, including India's longest railway tunnel, T-50, which stretched more than 12.7 km. Also, on the Katra-Banihal section, the Vande Bharat train will also traverse another engineering marvel: the Anji Khad bridge, India's first cable-stayed bridge. Supported by 96 cables, the 725-meter-long bridge stands 331 meters above mean sea level.

He was a resident of Pragadavaram village in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. He was a member of the Central Committee, the topmost governing body of the outlawed CPI (Maoist). He was also in-charge of RePOS (Revolutionary Political School) and Central Regional Bureau (CRB)," he who was responsible for various violent incidents that resulted in the death of numerous innocent tribal civilians and security personnel, was, as in-charge of the Maoist ideological training school (RePOS), involved in misleading and radicalizing youths with violent and anti-national ideologies, Sundarraj said."His death marks a major success for security forces and is a significant blow to the Maoist leadership, particularly in Dandakaranya region (that covers south Chhattisgarh and border areas of Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha). The brave security personnel have been taking forward the campaign to eliminate Naxalism towards a historic success despite facing difficult challenges and inhospitable conditions," he 2024-25, more than 400 Naxalites were neutralised in Bastar division and the goal of ending Naxalism by March 2026 will definitely be achieved under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he was killed along with 26 other ultras on May 21 in an encounter on the Narayanpur-Bijapur border in Bastar far, 203 Naxalites have been killed in separate encounters in Chhattisgarh this year, including 186 in Bastar division comprising Bijapur, Bastar, Kanker, Konadagaon, Narayanpur, Sukma and January last year, more than 403 Maoist cadres have been neutralized in Bastar division, as per police.
