Big B addresses buzz over his appearance on KBC 17, says he's trying to rectify

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, 82, has responded to the recent buzz surrounding his changing appearance during his ongoing stint on 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 17'. The veteran actor attributed the change to age but assured fans that he is working on 'rectifying it.'Sharing on his official blog, the 'Sholay' actor wrote, 'The days at the 25th year of KBC continue the audience reactions in the glorious sets are encouraging some media friends express that my look has changed and that I should look into that and rectify it. Am trying to do that to the best I can for my age. Till then your applause and love keeps me running in and forms the impetus needed and the encouragement needed for me to conduct what I have been doing for the past 23 years.'
advertisementIn another post, Bachchan opened up about the most challenging part of hosting the game show. 'We sit on the hot seat and meet and confront the contestants that have ambitious hopes of winning during the week of their stay on the floor and when they cannot make it, it's the hardest to control the frustration of defeat and lost opportunity for them yes, but for me as well,' he shared.
He further explained, 'It is emotionally shattering to [see] their tears swell up as they find the week over, the Hooter played and the need to come and play, for whatever personal reasons, goes missing. No amount of consolation at the time can give them solace and understanding, the need for some is crucial, the opportunity for some who have sacrificed their study or job opportunities to be at the FF and then the main chair to play and WIN, lost. Difficult to face such moments but what can be done, a smile of 'try again', a word of encouragement that all shall be fine. Loss is not the end of life, its a learning.'On the work front, Bachchan was last seen in 'Vettaiyan', his Tamil debut directed by TJ Gnanavel, alongside Rajinikanth, Fahadh Faasil, and Rana Daggubati. Earlier, he portrayed Ashwatthama in Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD', which grossed Rs 1,042.25 crore worldwide. He will reprise the role in the sequel, set to begin filming in December 2025. The actor is currently hosting 'KBC 17' and will next be seen in Ribhu Dasgupta's 'Section 84' with Diana Penty and Nimrat Kaur.- EndsMust Watch

Pb teacher celebrates linguistic diversity through children's songs

Ludhiana: In a heartwarming initiative that blends education with cultural harmony, a schoolteacher from Punjab has found a unique way to nurture linguistic respect among children. Karamjit Singh Grewal, who teaches at Govt Primary School, Khedi Jhamedi, has composed nearly 10 children's songs in as many Indian languages, an effort aimed at fostering diversity and tolerance. Influenced by his background in scouting and having friends from different parts of the country, Grewal believes language can play a powerful role in building bonds across communities. "The idea struck me that children should learn simple songs in different languages so that they feel connected with people from diverse cultural backgrounds," he says. In an age when urban youth often lean toward learning languages like Spanish or French, Grewal feels there is equal value in embracing vast linguistic richness closer home. "When we hear someone from another state speaking Punjabi, it feels heartwarming. They experience the same joy when we try speaking their language," he says, stressing the emotional connection language creates. So far, Grewal has successfully sung songs for children in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Dogri, Bengali, Bodo, Assamese, Hindi, apart from mother-tongue Punjabi. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Last Chance: 80% Off This Artisan's Retirement Jewelry Sale The Heritage Journal Read More Undo "Languages are not just about words, they are windows to different cultures. That's why the subjects of the songs vary and are rooted in the traditions and stories of the regions they represent," he says. What makes this initiative particularly impactful is the way it creates bridges among children, even when comprehension is limited. "Children might not understand every word, but when they sing these songs, they would appreciate other languages as well," Grewal says. Grewal plans to expand the project further. His goal is to create videos of children's songs in 24 languages, ensuring that young learners across the country can access and enjoy them. "This is my small contribution to nurturing a generation that not only respects but also celebrates the cultural and linguistic differences," he said. Box Office: Coolie and War 2 ensure a bumper opening weekend in India; Rajinikanth, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR contribute Rs 430 crore in 4 days

Coolie and War 2 are the two latest releases of Indian cinema. While the Rajinikanth starrer is performing well, the latter is struggling to gain the much-needed traction. Since both movies were released on Thursday, they enjoyed a 4-day extended opening weekend. However, exhibitors are happy as both Independence Day releases have brought audiences back to the cinemas. Coolie and War 2 collectively rakes in Rs 430 crore during the Independence Day weekend Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie opened with Rs 75.50 crore. It further raked in Rs 63.50 crore on Day 2 and Rs 47.50 crore on Day 3. As per estimates, the movie stormed over Rs 44 crore on its Day 4, bringing the opening weekend cume to Rs 230 crore gross at the Indian box office. While on the other hand, War 2 kickstarted its box office run with Rs 59 crore on its opening day. It further collected Rs 67 crore on the Independence Day followed by Rs 38 crore on the third day. Estimates suggest the movie added another Rs 35 crore to the tally on its fourth day, bringing the opening weekend total to Rs 200 crore gross in India. Collectively, both Coolie and War 2 sums up Rs 430 crore gross at the domestic box office. Had both movies performed to their full potential, the combined figure would have easily surpassed the Rs 500 crore mark in the first weekend alone. Globally, both movies have clocked over the Rs 600 crore mark in the first four days of their theatrical runs. Coolie performs best down South, War 2 dominates the Northern belt Coolie fared best in its home turf along with Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In contrast, War 2 dominated the North India belt with a solid margin. Both Independence Day releases are expected to end their theatrical run on a similar figure in India, with Coolie leading the clash. However, the Lokesh Kanagaraj movie will maintain a big margin in the international markets. It will be interesting to see whether both of them collectively can reach the Rs 1000 crore mark globally, as none of them now can achieve the four-digit magical figure alone.
