Archana Puran Singh comes out in support of nepotism: 'Bollywood people prefer to work with actors from film families'

Time of India4 days ago
Archana Puran Singh
recently weighed in on the ongoing nepotism debate, sharing her perspective from personal experience. In a candid conversation with
Ajay Devgn
on her YouTube channel, she reflected on why filmmakers often place such high value on stardom when casting star kids.
Professional habits often begin at home
According to her, individuals who grow up in film families typically absorb a sense of discipline and professionalism from an early age. She suggested that this early exposure is valuable for their understanding of the expectations of this industry-whether it is punctuality, behavior on set, or, more importantly, understanding the hierarchy of a film crew.
Ajay seemed to agree but added that children from the film industry often learn to keep a stronger line of delineation between acting as a craft and being a star.
He meant to say that outsiders sometimes confuse talent with fame without understanding the journey required to hone one's skill.
2025: A year filled with debutante buzz
The conversation coincided with a spate of star kid launches in 2025. Junaid Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Ibrahim Ali Khan, and Ahaan Panday all announced their arrival in the sparkling limelight. Ahaan was especially mentioned in the audience while saying 'Saiyaara', his film, which was a sleeper hit, had won much praise for emotional depth and presence. While the new entrants get mixed reaction online, the whole ruckus has completely blurred the fact that the public is always curious about industry legacies.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, 'Aneet is a big screen heroine for YRF. Nyaya was shot before she signed Saiyaara and it has no bearing on her career trajectory as a theatrical heroine going forward. A girl who is delivering probably a Rs. 400 crores hit in theatres, is a true Gen Z star at the age of just 22, will be preserved for theatricals. There are huge plans to make her the face of a generation and that can be achieved only by consolidating her theatrical equity.' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD About Fatima Sana Shaikh In an EXCLUSIVE interview with Firstpost, when Fatima Sana Shaikh too spoke on gender pay gap and for things to change, audiences need to accept women led films. She said, 'Finally, there are women who are asking for what they deserve, and that is commendable because to voice it and to even receive that was like a dream. And, you know, these are the women like Deepika Padukone who are paving paths for us so that tomorrow when we are in that position, we won't obviously think twice to get our due.' On working with Anurag Basu I didn't get to interact with other characters a lot. I largely interacted with Sara Khan and Ali Fazal that you've seen in the trailer also. So, I didn't unfortunately get to share the screen with all of these other actors that I'm a huge fan of. The best thing about Anurag (dada) is that you are not bound by the script and you know what you're getting into. So, you learn a lot when you go to the set. Even if there is a climax scene, even if there is a hectic scene, you come to know about it in the morning. And you just go with the flow. Whatever comes on your way, you just figure it out. You try to be as honest as possible. And that's what we all did, and there is, you know, significant fun in that too.

Saiyaara box office collection day 10: Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda's film sees another jump on second Sunday as it eyes Chhaava record, crosses Rs 300 cr worldwide

A day after becoming the second highest grossing Hindi film of 2025, Mohit Suri's romantic drama Saiyaara has added another feather to its cap. The Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda-starrer has now crossed the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide after adding another Rs 30 crore to its domestic box office collection on the second Sunday. Saiyaara had already crossed Rs 280 crore worldwide on Saturday. Saiyaara India box office collection On its 10th day at the domestic box office, Saiyaara collected Rs 30 crore, yet another jump from its Saturday (day 9) collection of Rs 26.5 crore. The film breached the daily limit of Rs 20 crore on Saturday after two days of earning less than that. Besides day 10, Saiyaara managed to cross the Rs 30 crore mark in a day only last Sunday (day 3) when it earned Rs 35.75 crore, another major spike from its Saturday (day 2) earnings of Rs 26 crore. As per Sacnilk, the box office collection of Saiyaara in India now stands at Rs 247.25 crore. The film has already crossed the domestic box office collections of several superstar films like Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 (Rs 198.41 crore), Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 (Rs 179.30 crore), and Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 165.85 crore). Saiyaara is second biggest box office earner if 2025 Saiyaara's current domestic box office collection is only next to that of Laxman Utekar's period action film Chaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, which earned Rs 615.39 crore. It's a long way to go before Suri's film can even come close to that record. With fresh competition in Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2 and Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri-starrer Dhadak 2 coming in this Friday, the progress of Saiyaara is likely to slow down. Saiyaara marks the debut of Ahaan Panday, who's the first cousin of actor Ananya Panday and the nephew of Chunky Panday. It is also the first lead outing for Padda, who first made an impression in the Prime Video India series Big Girls Don't Cry last year. The film also stars actors Geeta Agarwal, Rajesh Kumar, Varun Badola and Shaad Randhawa in prominent roles. Produced by Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films, the official logline of the film reads, 'Passionate lovers navigate a rollercoaster romance, facing euphoric highs and crushing lows while desperately clinging to their tumultuous bond.' It also marks the debut of YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani as producer. Also Read: Saiyaara just fixed everything Bollywood broke about love Last week, Aamir Khan congratulated the team of Saiyaara by posting a note on the official social media handles of his banner, Aamir Khan Productions. 'Congratulations to the entire team of 'Saiyaara' on its remarkable theatrical success! Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda shine in their debut film with such grace and depth. Mohit Suri brings his intensity and passion to the film, and full credit to YRF for championing this melodious and and heartfelt story.' Not only Aamir, but also other industry stalwarts like Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar have congratulated the team of Saiyaara for the resounding success.

Saiyaara star Aneet Padda headed to OTT next? Here's what we know about the project

Aneet Padda successfully established herself as the "next big thing" in Bollywood with her record-breaking debut movie, Saiyaara. However, recent buzz suggests that the actress will next be seen in an OTT project. While the opportunity would generally be considered good for any young artist, disappointed Aneet fans questioned the move, considering her massive theatrical debut hit. Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday, has already earned ₹ 248.43 crore in 10 days and is expected to achieve the ₹ 300 crore net milestone by this week. But then there's a catch! Yes, Aneet Padda's next release is an OTT project. No, she is not moving to streaming platforms. Aneet Padda's next release will be an OTT project -- a web series titled Nyaya, by Nitya Mehra of Baar Baar Dekho fame and her husband Karan Kapadia. However, she reportedly completed the shoot for the Nyaya before signing Yash Raj Films' Saiyaara. Nyaya, a fictionalised series based on real-life events, will star Aneet alongside Fatima Sana Shaikh and Arjun Mathur. According to a report on the web series was filmed last year and is slated to premiere on a major OTT platform soon. 'It promises to be a gripping story about the complexities of faith and the law.' The report said that Fatima plays a determined police officer in Nyaya, while Aneet takes on the gritty role of a 17-year-old girl fighting for justice after being sexually assaulted by a powerful spiritual leader. To the fans' delight, film industry sources have called Aneet Padda a'big screen heroine,' and said that her OTT project has no bearing on her career trajectory. Industry sources told HT Digital that YRF aims to promote Aneet as a theatrical heroine, considering the massive success of Saiyaara. 'Aneet is a big screen heroine for YRF. Nyaya was shot before she signed Saiyaara and it has no bearing on her career trajectory as a theatrical heroine going forward,' the source told HT Digital. 'A girl who is delivering probably a ₹ 400 crore hit in theatres, is a true Gen Z star at the age of just 22, will be preserved for theatricals. There are huge plans to make her the face of a generation, and that can be achieved only by consolidating her theatrical equity,' they added.
