Texas Rangers promote Alejandro Osuna to replace injured Joc Pederson: Report
Texas Rangers promote Alejandro Osuna to replace injured Joc Pederson: Report (Image Source: Getty Images)
The Texas Rangers had a rough Saturday. Their defense collapsed with one bad inning, the bullpen was unable to hold a lead once more and designated hitter Joc Pederson broke a hand after being hit by a pitch.
Pederson has been put on the injured list and will be out for at least six weeks. Although this is a significant loss, it has provided an opportunity for outfielder Alejandro Osuna to debut in the majors.
Alejandro Osuna gets his big chance with Rangers
The Rangers moved swiftly in the wake of Pederson's injury. ESPN's Jeff Passan reported that the team, late Saturday night, recalled Alejandro Osuna. Osuna started the season in Double-A Frisco but leaped Triple-A after putting up good numbers.
In just seven games at Triple-A Round Rock, he proved himself worthy of this call-up.
Alejandro Osuna's summoning wasn't entirely surprising. Many Rangers fans wished he would be a part of the team soon this summer, perhaps July or August.
But injuries and subpar offense accelerated the timeline. Osuna will now get the opportunity to bring fresh energy to the team. With a slash of .280/.385/.413 and 8 stolen bases in 12 attempts, Alejandro Osuna provides the speed and contact ability that the present team lacks.

Joc Pederson's troubles persist and an opportunity emerges for Alejandro Osuna
Before being injured, Joc Pederson was struggling. He was hitting only .132 with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs in 144 plate appearances. His problems were already of concern, and his absence may not hurt the lineup as much as anticipated.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy now has a new component to work with in Alejandro Osuna. The young center fielder is viewed more as a "table-setter" rather than a power hitter, something the team is in dire need of.
The Rangers also thought about recalling Blaine Crim, but Osuna's speed and on-base skills made him the better choice.
It's still unclear whether Alejandro Osuna will begin immediately or be gradually incorporated into the rotation. Either way, however, the fans are eager to see what he can do. With the Rangers having fallen behind in the playoff hunt, perhaps this represents the start of a youth movement and perhaps Osuna is just the player to spearhead the effort.

Josh Hazlewood on nicknamed ‘HazleGod': ‘Hopefully, it runs out of steam pretty quickly'
One of the key reasons behind Royal Challengers Bengaluru's maiden title was their bowling, led by Australia's Josh Hazlewood. Whenever Bengaluru was losing its grip in the game, it would turn to Hazlewood, and he created the much-needed breakthrough. From 12 games, he picked up 22 wickets at an economy of 8.77, bowling in the powerplay, middle overs, and final over of the innings. For his efforts, he has earned himself a new nickname through the course of the tournament, 'HazleGod.'When asked about how he feels about the tag, the 34-year-old said, 'Yeah, hopefully, it runs out of steam pretty quickly. It's flattering, obviously, to hear it around the grounds in India, but I don't think it'll take off in Australia,' said Hazlewood who will play World Test Championship final on June 11 against South African. Alongside Hazlewood in the conversation was his partner in crime, Mitchell Starc. 'Hopefully, it sticks because I don't think he likes it too much. He's had a fantastic few months, the big fella over in India, and he's come home with bags of cash. So I look forward to seeing him in action here at Lord's,' said Starc, Off-spinner Nathan Lyon revealed during the training sessions of the WTC that Hazlewood did refer to himself as 'HazleGod.' 'HazleGod, he actually referred to himself as it the other day, which totally took me back by surprise,' said Lyon. 'Off the back of him winning the IPL, I think he's running with it,' he added. RCB beat Punjab Kings by six runs in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Hazlewood picked up the crucial wicket of Priyansh Arya at the top to create the breakthrough for RCB after both the Punjab openers Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, were scoring at a brisk pace and eating away at the target quickly. Though Hazlewood has conceded 54 runs in the final, most of them came in the final over when the game was won.

Why Atlanta Braves' 7-game slump signals deeper issues beyond injuries
Why Atlanta Braves' 7-game slump signals deeper issues beyond injuries (Image Source: Getty Images) This season's second seven-game losing streak by the Atlanta Braves has shown that their problems go deeper than the injuries that have troubled them in recent times. Although Ronald Acuña Jr. and Spencer Strider are back, the Atlanta Braves are 10 games below .500 and are 9.5 games behind the team in the last National League playoff spot. After recovering from their poor start, this sudden collapse points to serious problems in the organisation that must be handled by the management and coaches right away. This second losing streak happened right when the Atlanta Braves were at .500 after six weeks of hard work. Spencer Strider's struggles highlight pitching rotation concerns The Atlanta Braves were hoping that Spencer Strider's return from injury would lift their rotation, but he has recorded zero wins and five losses in his five starts this season. The problems seen with the former Cy Young candidate are common in the pitching staff, since the bullpen has given up 12 saves and made just 10 saves, a statistic seen by only two other Major League Baseball teams. On Thursday, the Atlanta Braves' poor pitching was very obvious when the Diamondbacks came back from behind with seven runs in the final frame to win 11-10. Because of the defeat, the organisation called up Craig Kimbrel from the minors, marking his first game with the team since he was traded in 2015. Still, it was clear how much the team needed help in the bullpen after Kimbrel was sent away just after one appearance. Close game execution reveals mental fragility in crucial moments The way the Atlanta Braves lose so many one-run games exposes a major problem that is not limited to individual players. Despite being ahead in runs this season, the team continues to fail in big games, which could lead to mental challenges in the next campaign. By losing a lot of close games, the Atlanta Braves are now in fourth place and have a 14-game gap to the leading New York Mets. The franchise is now tied with the Washington Nationals in the standings, putting them between third place and last place, which is surprising for a team that has made the playoffs every year since 2017. People can watch the Atlanta Braves' games coming up on Bally Sports South or via as the team tries to recover after many have written off their season, which is only halfway done in June. Also Read: No Yankee has ever hit .400—can Aaron Judge be the first to make the impossible a reality? The Atlanta Braves face a critical juncture where organisational changes may prove necessary to prevent this season from becoming a complete catastrophe. With Ronald Acuña Jr. performing well individually and Spencer Strider expected to regain form, the focus must shift toward addressing the mental aspects and bullpen construction that have derailed their championship aspirations.

Rishabh Pant Struck On Arm Before England Series, Bandage And Ice Pack Follows. Star Says...
Rishabh Pant will don dual hats in Indian cricket team's upcoming Test series against England that starts on June 20. He is not only India's no. 1 choice for wicketkeeper but is also the side's vice-captain. Pant's recent form is, however, not awe inspiring. In the just-concluded IPL 2025, Rishabh Pant could not strike big. Barring a ton in his last match for Lucknow Super Giants, Pant was not in good touch. Perhaps. a change in climes and format may do Pant a world of good. Pant has started training in England and had an injury scare on Monday. According to a report, Pant took throw downs, faced spinners and then the pacers during a training session. Indi coach Gautam Gambhir even gave him an input in the middle of the session. "Then came the only moment of concern. One delivery thudded into Pant's left arm. He grimaced, came out immediately, and the team doctor was on the scene with an ice pack. A bandage followed, and for half an hour, Pant was seen resting," the report in said. Later, he was asked about the injury scare. Pant replied: "All ok" Former Indian cricketers on Monday advised the Shubman-Gill led side to ace the conditions in England for a successful tour while Michael Vaughan believes that the five-Test series could be a start of "something special" for the visitors. India are going through a transitional phase following retirements of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and spin ace Ravichandran Ashwin, while fast bowler Mohammed Shami was not picked in the touring party. Cheteshwar Pujara said each and every player will have to contribute for the team to come up trumps. "India's team to England must adapt quickly and play (according) to the conditions. As someone who understands batting in English conditions and team dynamics, I believe discipline, patience and support for each other are crucial," said Pujara. "Every player will need to contribute and respect the challenges that lay ahead. I am sure this tour will be a great opportunity for the growth and success of each player and the team as a whole," Pujara told Sony Sports, the official broadcaster of India's tour to England. Former left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra also echoed the same sentiment. "To me, England tour is always challenging but it's great fun as well. Adapting to the conditions will be the key and I am sure our players are capable of doing that. Bowling wise we have the experience and stability." Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan said the sooner Indians adapt, the better it is for them. "India's new squad faces a tough challenge in England, but as an all-rounder, I know adaptability is key. Gill's leadership, Pant's energy, and India's young talent must step up. "England's conditions test every skill — swing, seam, and temperament. If India's players adapt quickly and stay united, they can surprise England, just as we've seen in the past with new teams rising to the occasion," he said.
