Subaru ventured into the sweltering urban jungle of New York City to unveil this, the all-new Uncharted. It is not a brilliant videogame or indeed a disappointing adaptation of said videogame, but instead a shiny new electric crossover with sporty driving in mind. Because of course it is.
The dual-motored utility vehicle will swing in with 338hp and provide Subie's standard symmetrical all-wheel drive, with its Sport and GT models set up for five-second 0 to 60 getaways off the line.

The Uncharted is a first for Subaru but it's not fully unfamiliar territory. If you look closely, you'll see the Uncharted is essentially an exciting blend of the Solterra and the Toyota CH-R BEV announced a couple of months ago. All are built on Toyota's e-TNGA platform with the CH-R (pronounced 'chair', mainly by us) sharing the same motor configuration and output.
On the topic of the Solterra, the Uncharted sports the family look by sharing a light signature with the Solterra and the Trailseeker. The CUV is about seven inches shorter than its slightly more seasoned sibling, but it has 25 cu ft of cargo space behind the second row, out cargo-ing the 23.8 cu ft the Solterra offers. All the while, its sport-tuned suspension claims dynamic performance on the road, along with grip and stability on loose surfaces.
Saddled with a 74.7kWh battery, Subaru expects the all-wheel drive versions will provide around 290 miles of range, and claims the CUV can be juiced up from 10-80 per cent in 30 minutes when connected to a fast-charging station, something that its native NACS port can accommodate. If it's more miles and less grunt you're looking for, a FWD-only version will be produced in limited numbers. These will offer up just 221hp but can stretch its range past 300 miles if the conditions are right.
Inside the Uncharted you'll find a 14in infotainment screen, standard dual wireless charging ports on the center console, dual USB-C ports for rear passengers and wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatibility. In terms of safety, all trim levels include Subie's suite of driver-assist tech it calls EyeSight, with certain trims throwing in extras like a panoramic view monitor, lane change and traffic jam assists. All trims come with an all-weather package that includes heated front seats and a de-icer for the windshield wiper. The whole package rides on 18 or 20in wheels, contingent on trim level.

Pricing has yet to be announced, but we'll hear more about it as we get closer to its launch in early 2026.

SoftBank and OpenAI's Stargate aims building small data center by year-end, WSJ reports

July 21 (Reuters) - Stargate, a multi-billion-dollar effort by ChatGPT's creator OpenAI, SoftBank (9434.T), opens new tab and Oracle (ORCL.N), opens new tab to supercharge the U.S.' AI ambitions is now setting the more modest goal of building a small data center by the end of the year, likely in Ohio, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday. In January, U.S. President Donald Trump hosted top tech CEOs at the White House to highlight the $500 billion Stargate Project, which would create more than 100,000 jobs in the country. SoftBank and OpenAI, which jointly lead the joint venture, have been at odds over crucial terms of the partnership, including where to build the sites, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter. In a joint statement, the two companies told Reuters they were moving "with urgency on site assessments" and were also advancing projects in multiple states. When the project was unveiled, the companies involved, along with other equity backers of Stargate, had committed $100 billion for immediate deployment, with the remaining investment expected to occur over the next four years. Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison said at the time that the first of the project's data centers was already under construction in Texas. Trump has prioritized winning the AI race against China and declared, on his first day in office, a national energy emergency aimed at removing all regulatory obstacles to oil and gas drilling, coal and critical mineral mining, and building new gas and nuclear power plants to bring more energy capacity online.

Elon Musk wants to expand Tesla diners to major cities worldwide

Elon Musk has proposed expanding Tesla 's new 1950s-style Hollywood diner into a global network, including at Supercharger sites. The diners would offer American comfort food and allow electric vehicle owners to charge their cars while dining. A prototype 'Optimus' robot served popcorn at a pre-launch event for the Hollywood diner, which features 32 fast charging stations and LED screens. Musk also announced plans for a second Tesla diner at Starbase, his SpaceX launch complex in South Texas. The expansion idea comes as Tesla faces declining sales and profits, attributed to increased competition and political repercussions from Musk's association with Donald Trump.

New Trump human resources czar distances himself from Elon Musk

WASHINGTON, July 21 (Reuters) - The new chief of the agency spearheading efforts to slash the federal workforce said on Monday he had no personal ties to tech billionaire and former Trump advisor Elon Musk, pledging to faithfully execute President Donald Trump's agenda. "I have zero personal relationship with Elon Musk. I have talked to Elon Musk once on the phone in my life," Scott Kupor, who was sworn in to lead the Office of Personnel Management earlier this month, told reporters. The comments underscored lingering questions about the loyalties of Silicon Valley tech entrepreneurs among Trump administration officials following a public spat between Trump and Musk that led to a deep rift between the two former allies. Kupor said he had told Trump and other people in the White House that "my job is to do the agenda that the president lays out to the best I can." "But I'm not going to do it consistent with someone else's objectives that are inconsistent with what the president wants to do," he added. Musk, who spent over a quarter of a billion dollars to help Trump win November's presidential election, led the Department of Government Efficiency's efforts to slash the budget and cut the federal workforce until his departure in late May to refocus on his tech empire, including electric vehicle maker Tesla (TSLA.O), opens new tab. While Trump hailed Musk's tenure upon his departure, the president quickly pulled the nomination of Musk ally and tech entrepreneur Jared Isaacman to lead NASA. Reuters previously reported that Musk was disappointed by Isaacman's removal. The president also threatened to cancel billions of dollars worth of contracts between the federal government and Musk's companies after Musk denounced Trump's tax-cut and spending bill as a "disgusting abomination." Prior to taking the helm at OPM, Kupor was a partner at Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, which invests in Musk's AI startup Xai as well as SpaceX.
