Notre Dame's 2026 recruiting class features 3 NFL sons and will make you feel so old
After the son of former Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis, outside linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., committed to the Fighting Irish last fall, the school landed the sons of two more NFL standouts on Saturday.
Wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald, the son of future Hall of Fame receiver Larry Fitzgerald, and wide receiver Kaydon Finley, the son of former Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley, both committed to the Notre Dame the day after July 4th.
This photo with all three former NFL players and sons, all future Notre Dame players, is so cool. However, it will also make you sit quietly and contemplate the cruel passage of time.
Congrats to all of these future Notre Dame players and their dads, and continued respect to Father Time for making us all feel absolutely ancient.

Matthew Stafford practices with Rams in QB's first team workout of preseason
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Matthew Stafford practiced with the Los Angeles Rams on Monday, marking the quarterback's first workout with the team this preseason after having been unable to do so because of a sore back. Stafford, 37, took first-team reps during the session and did not speak to reporters afterward. Coach Sean McVay said it was too soon to know what the session means for Stafford's status going forward. 'I think that would be putting the cart way before the horse,' McVay said. 'I thought he did a good job today, and we had 26 plays of team (with Stafford), and (he) did a really nice job of managing the huddle. I thought he saw the field well. I thought he went where the balls would go, and there's some good competitive work on both sides today.' McVay has repeatedly declined to put any timeline on Stafford's availability, doing so again on Monday, after having initially said in July his starting quarterback would miss the first part of training camp. The Rams open the regular season on Sept. 7 by hosting the Houston Texans. 'I'm not going to pigeonhole myself into any plans,' McVay said. 'And so we're just really seeing how he feels. We're really taking it a day at a time and a week at a time right now.' While McVay said he was treating Monday's practice as another day, teammates were visibly excited to have the veteran going into his 17th season on the field. Stafford has led the team into the playoffs in three of his four seasons in Los Angeles, including winning the Super Bowl in the 2021 season. 'I think this group brings energy every day. I think that certainly was something that guys felt good about. Like, what I want to make sure is, let's just take it a day at a time. Panthers HC Dave Canales speaks on his team's new addition at QB
There's a new Bryce in town for the Carolina Panthers. Monday marked the first practice in Charlotte for quarterback Bryce Perkins, whom the Panthers officially signed this morning. Head coach Dave Canales was asked about his early impressions of his newest passer following the session. "Accurate," Canales replied. "He came in today, really excited to get him in here. The UFL MVP. He's earned this opportunity. And just going into the [Pittsburgh] Steelers game—if Andy [Dalton] can't turn it around and get the soreness out and we don't have to play him, then Jack [Plummer] and Bryce can play that game for us." That game, Thursday's preseason finale against Pittsburgh, won't see starting quarterback Bryce Young. The Panthers may also hold out their second-stringer in Dalton, who sustained a mild muscle strain during Saturday's outing in Houston. Those absences could set the stage for Perkins, the United Football League's reigning Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year. The 28-year-old, who was also a member of the Los Angeles Rams between 2020 and 2022, totaled 1,611 yards and 14 touchdowns over seven contests for the Michigan Panthers this past spring. Canales continued. "It's great to be able to just reward somebody who's gone to another league, played so well, but also spent three years with the Rams," he added. "So, there is some carryover. Some of the words are familiar to him, but it's kinda a marriage of two different systems. But football's football—and he's played a lot of it, he's played significant snaps. New NFL crocs look cozy but have have 1 major flaw
The NFL has announced a multiyear licensing deal with the footwear company Crocs, which should allow for some comfortable Sunday viewing sessions. Many sports fans and players, including Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers, enjoy wearing Crocs. Earlier this year, Las Vegas Raiders rookie Ashton Jeanty showed up to the 2025 NFL Draft wearing the crystal-covered clogs. 'The Crocs brand has made a significant impact on footwear culture with their shoes becoming synonymous with ease and comfort,' said Ryan Samuelson, vice president of consumer products at the NFL. 'Collaborating with Crocs allows us to give fans expanded gameday options that will keep them stylishly comfortable for gameday and every day.' The original release, which will drop on September 18 for $84.99, will feature 14 NFL teams. The initial line includes the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills, Las Vegas Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, and Denver Broncos. Many of them look normal and inoffensive and seem perfectly suited for a casual hang: Some of them, like the pair for the Cowboys, look fairly normal. But the attached Jibbitz™ charms for the Bears, Bills, and Vikings are a bit more odd. These shoes should not have horns! Aside from aesthetic issues, that would make it quite difficult to walk. Similarly, the shoes for the Bears should not have claws. That was a bold decision that isn't working. If these are detachable, there's less of an issue. But if this is a permanent part of the shoe, it's a glaring problem for anyone who hopes to take themselves seriously.
