Vallejos on being the latest prospect from Argentina
'One of my dreams truly is to be able to have the resources to open a gym in Argentina and do my full camps there. And not just that, but also be able to help other people in Argentina so we can develop (more fighters).
'This new generation of Argentinians coming in like myself, they're being seen ina. different way. I'd compare it to maybe the previous generation – Santiago Ponzinibbio, (Guido) 'Ninja' Cannetti. When they fought, I think people in Argentina looked at them as just people locking themselves in a cage and beating each other up. Now I think people seees the growth of the UFC as a new sport. I'm seeing a lot more newspapers, a lot more media covering MMA with this new generation of Argentinians.'
Vallejos on what he wants next
'I started feeling like a UFC fighter after my first loss ever to Jean Silva on the Contenders Series. I see him and how he's destroying everyone, and I was able to fight three rounds with him and even win a round. I was feeling like a UFC fighter there, and it showed me I do have what it takes to be here.
'It's super impressive. On top of it, I've spoken to Jean Silva. I've spoken to his team, and they're absolutely great people. They deserve everything they're achieving. … He's going to get his belt, and I'm happy for him. But I want my rematch. I want to fight against the best fighters, and he's the best. I want to show that I'm the best. He's going to win the title, and I'm going to take it from him.'

Dana White Adds Fuel to Jon Jones Retirement Rumors 'If He Wants to Retire, There's Nothing I Can Do"
Dana White Adds Fuel to Jon Jones Retirement Rumors 'If He Wants to Retire, There's Nothing I Can Do" originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Dana White's unwavering defense of UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones as the no. 1 pound-for-pound fighter has become a recurring theme in seemingly every post-fight press conference he is in, even when the event has nothing to do with Jones. Despite Jones's lengthy suspensions, legal troubles, and sporadic fight schedule, White consistently talks about his dominance. Advertisement Because of his partiality towards Jones, journalists constantly ask him for any update on Jones. Dana WhiteGettyImages Case in point, White faced a barrage of questions about his future at the UFC 316 post-fight press conference in Newark, New Jersey. The heavyweight champion's reluctance to fight interim titleholder Tom Aspinall has sparked widespread speculation, with Jones even hinting at retirement. He acknowledged the limitations of his influence on Jones, saying, 'Listen, if the guy wants to retire and doesn't want to fight, [there's] nothing you can do.' He continued citing other UFC champions who retired early, admitting, 'I didn't want Khabib [Nurmagomedov] to retire. I thought [Daniel Cormier] should have stuck around longer. It's none of my business. I'll do what I can to make the fight if we can. If he's talking that crazy s***, I didn't realize that.' Advertisement White, however, remained steadfast in his belief that Jones had already agreed to the Aspinall fight, despite the swirling rumors. He asserted, "Unless you hear it come from [my mouth] or we put out a press release, don't believe any of this bullsh—. Unless we come out and say something, it's all bullsh—. But yes, Jon agreed to fight Tom, fact.' While he urged fans to ignore unverified rumors, he also gave his opinion on fans launching a viral petition to strip Jon Jones of the heavyweight title. 'Every human on Earth was DM'ing it to me,' White said. 'It's kind of f—ing silly.' White's patience is clearly being tested by fans and by Jones. Whether Jones steps into the cage against Aspinall or walks away, fans can only wait for an official update. Heavyweight Drama: Jones vs. Ngannou 'Biggest Fight in UFC History'
Heavyweight Drama: Jones vs. Ngannou 'Biggest Fight in UFC History' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. While heavyweight MMA legend Francis Ngannou left the UFC on bad terms, there have been rumblings of his potential return to the organization. Recently, his coach Eric Nicksick even hinted that he might be interested in coming back to fight for Dana White, given the UFC heavyweight division's stagnancy towards the top of the rankings. With Jon Jones hinting at retirement rather than face Tom Aspinall, the heavyweight division has been a mess, and the anticipation for a Ngannou return could revitalize a tired narrative of Jones ducking Aspinall. Advertisement The MMA world is again buzzing over a potential superfight between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou, with UFC veterans Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo declaring it the "biggest fight in UFC history" on a recent episode of the Pound 4 Pound podcast. Feb 15, 2020; Rio Rancho, New Mexico, USA; UFC fighter Jon Jones attends the light heavyweight bout between Jan Blachowicz (blue) and Corey Anderson (red) during UFC Fight Night at Santa Ana Star Arena.© Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports Usman, a former welterweight champion, didn't hold back in his excitement, stating, "I'm telling you right now, the biggest fight in UFC history will be Jon Jones versus Francis Ngannou. I think this is the biggest fight that you can make right now." However, UFC CEO Dana White has shut down the idea, insisting that interim champion Tom Aspinall is next in line for Jones. Advertisement "It's Aspinall's fight," White declared, dismissing Ngannou's return as unlikely. "I don't have Ngannou under contract, and Aspinall is the guy." This stance is the polar opposite of PFL founder Donn Davis, who proposed a "winner takes all" co-promotion in a post on X (formerly Twitter), offering to let the victorious fighter's promotion claim all event profits. Meanwhile, Aspinall remains in limbo, waiting for Jones to commit to their unification bout. With Jones seemingly more interested in Ngannou, the UFC faces a dilemma of forcing Jones to face Aspinall or risk losing the biggest money fight in MMA to a rival promotion. For Jones, it's a chance to cement his legacy against a fellow all-time great. For Ngannou, it's an opportunity to prove he never needed the UFC to dominate. And for fans, it's the dream matchup that's been five years in the making. As Usman put it, this isn't just another fight—it's history. After UFC 316 win, Quillan Salkilld wants to bring pound-for-pound best ‘stache to Perth
After UFC 316 win, Quillan Salkilld wants to bring pound-for-pound best 'stache to Perth Show Caption Hide Caption UFC 316: Quillan Salkilld post-fight interview UFC 316 winner Quillan Salkilld spoke to MMA Junkie and reporters post-fight after his unanimous decision victory over Yanal Ashmouz. NEWARK, N.J. – Quillan Salkilld met the media Saturday after his win over Yanal Ashmouz at UFC 316. Salkilld (9-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) outworked Ashmouz (8-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) for a unanimous decision on the preliminary card at Prudential Center. The Australian lightweight prospect landed eight takedowns and had more than seven minutes of control time in the fight and stuffed all six of Ashmouz's takedown attempts to add a little insult to injury. Salkilld said he thought he'd get things done early, so was surprised he had to go 15 minutes. But now he wants to fight back at home when the UFC returns to Australia in the fall. 'That's 100 percent what I want next,' Salkilld said. 'I've heard rumors its September (in Perth), so that gives me good time. I'm not too banged up after this one, so that gives me a few weeks to heal my little bumps and bruises and get back in there and prep.' But perhaps just as important for building his brand, Salkilld said his mustache is the best in the sport right now – and second all-time only to UFC Hall of Famer Don Frye. Check out Salkilld's post-fight news conference in the video above.
