Al Ahly vs Inter Miami Club World Cup prediction, odds and betting offer
Lionel Messi's Inter Miami kick off the 2025 Club World Cup campaign in their home ground, Hard Rock Stadium, to Egyptian side Al Ahly who make an impressive 10th appearance in the competition
The inaugural match of the FIFA Club World Cup (CWC) is set to be an engaging encounter between Egypt's Al Ahly and USA's Inter Miami at the Hard Rock Stadium.
Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, qualified through winning the Supporters' Shield in the MLS and was only announced once the club part-owned by David Beckham achieved the feat of securing top spot in the league system. They, however, failed to impress in the MLS Cup (that is the play-offs tournament) with Los Angeles Galaxy securing that title but do not receive a place in this summer's competition.
Meanwhile, Al-Ahly qualified as winners of the 2020/21 CAF Champions League winners having won it two more times after that in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons too. Making their 10th appearance in the competition, they are seasoned veterans who will be keen to make their make in the group stage.
This marks the first time these two teams will cross paths on the football pitch. They find themselves in Group A, where they stand alongside the highly-rated teams of Portugal's Porto and Brazil's Palmeiras. Despite the stiff competition, both Al Ahly and Inter Miami are entering this tournament with a sense of optimism, buoyed by their recent performances.
Al Ahly's winning streak of six games was interrupted by a 5-3 penalty shootout defeat to Pachuca, following a 1-1 draw in regular time. On the other hand, Inter Miami is riding high on back-to-back victories leading up to this tournament, boasting an impressive tally of nine goals.
While it's worth mentioning that the MLS boasts a higher standard than the Egyptian top league, Al Ahly has consistently shown a knack for coming out on top. That said, Inter Miami, armed with the star power of Messi and Luis Suarez, should feel positive about kicking off the tournament with a win on home soil.

Victoria Beckham breaks silence on David's knighthood as she also gets new title
Former Spice Girls singer Victoria Beckham has said she 'could not be prouder' of her husband David Beckham after he was knighted in the King's Birthday Honours. The former England captain, who played for his country 115 times, was honoured for his services to sport and charity. He married the now Lady Beckham, also known as Posh Spice, in 1999 and the pair share four children together, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper. In a post shared on Saturday on Instagram, Lady Beckham said: 'You've always been my knight in shining armour, but now it's official. Sir @davidbeckham!!! 'What an honour, I couldn't be prouder of you. Your dedication to the things that matter most — your country, your work, your passion, and most of all, your family — has never wavered. 'The way you've touched so many lives over the years with kindness and humility speaks volumes about the man you are and continues to inspire us everyday. 'But above all else, I'm so, so proud to call you mine. I love you so much xxxx.' The football star, who was formerly appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2003, responded to the post by expressing his love for his family, mentioning each of his children and adding 'I love you all'. Sir David first made his Premier League debut for United in 1995 and was part of the team that earned a dramatic Champions League final victory in 1999 when they beat Bayern Munich with two late goals. In total he scored 85 goals and collected honours including six Premier League titles and two FA Cups as a footballer, before retiring from the sport in 2013. Alongside his footballing career, the sports star is also a supporter of a number of charity causes including being a founding member of the charity Malaria No More UK's leadership council. Sir David was also named as an ambassador last year for the King's Foundation, an educational charity established by the King in 1990 and has been a Goodwill Ambassador for the humanitarian aid organisation Unicef since 2005. In a statement to the PA News Agency, Sir David said: 'Growing up in east London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour. 'To have played for and captained my country was the greatest privilege of my career and literally a boyhood dream come true. 'Off the pitch I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to represent Britain around the world and work with incredible organisations that are supporting communities in need and inspiring the next generation. 'I'm so lucky to be able to do the work that I do and I'm grateful to be recognised for work that gives me so much fulfilment. 'It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I'm immensely proud and it's such an emotional moment for me to share with my family.' The businessman is also the co-founder of Studio99, the production company behind the hit Netflix series, Beckham, and is a part-owner of MLS side Inter Miami. He is also known for his fashion and was named most stylish man of the year by GQ magazine in 1998, has modelled for the likes of H&M, Armani and Boss, and was appointed ambassadorial president of the British Fashion Council (BFC) in 2018 where he assisted in its search for young British talent from all backgrounds. Sir David is not the only fashion star in the family, with his wife Lady Beckham launching an eponymous fashion label in 2008 followed by a beauty brand in 2019.

Club World Cup 2025 prize money round-by-round breakdown
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is only a few days away, with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City battling to win in the USA. The tournament kicks-off in the USA on Sunday as Al Ahly take on Lionel Messi's Inter Miami but it would be fair to say that players, clubs and fans aren't entirely sold on the revamped and expanded competition. In order to ensure it succeeds, FIFA have broken the bank – literally – with the total prize pot they are offering standing at a staggering $1billion (that's roughly £739million). But how exactly will this be split between all 32 teams competing? We break down the Club World Cup prize money and how it compares to other competitions like the Champions League: Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link we'll send you so we can get football news tailored to you. According to FIFA, of the $1bn prize pot, $475m (£350m) will be distributed to clubs depending on how they perform at the tournament. The eventual champions' reward will depend on their performance in the group stage but the maximum they can win is a cool £86.4m. But they stand to gain more than that as the majority of the prize pot has already been handed out as a participation fee, the amount of which depends on what confederation they come from. Oceania's sole representative Auckland City is getting £2.6m, while clubs from Africa, Asia and North American will get £7m each. The South American sides get £11.2m but the figure varies for European teams depending on 'sporting and commercial criteria', with the lowest ranked getting £9.4m and the highest £28.2m. Group stage win: £1.4million Group stage draw: £739,000 Round of 16: £5.5million Quarter-final: £9.6million Semi-final: £15.5million Final: £22.1million Winners: £29.5million If we assume that Chelsea and Manchester City fall into the latter category, they could leave the USA with over £114million – roughly the equivalent to one Florian Wirtz. Additionally, the winning club will get to wear the special, gold Club World Cup badge on their shirts until the next edition of the competition in 2029 and of course they'll lift the brand new trophy. The total prize pot for the Club World Cup may seem big but it's only about a third of the £2bn on offer in the UEFA Champions League. That said, the winner of the UCL stands to receive less than the CWC victors, with the former earning up to £102.3m, depending on results. More Trending The 2024/25 Champions League winners PSG would have received upwards of £95m after struggling to get through the league phase. In any case, the figures dwarf how much Liverpool received in prize money for winning the Premier League last season (£56.4m) and Crystal Palace's reward for lifting their first FA Cup in May (£3.91m). Additionally, Argentina received £32m for winning the 2022 World Cup. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
